"Jurors have said they are unable to reach a unanimous verdict in the trial of Lindsay Clancy..."

"... a mother who was accused of murdering her three children while suffering from undiagnosed postpartum psychosis. After about 18 hours of deliberations, the 12 jurors — nine women and three men — informed the judge on Tuesday morning that they are deadlocked. Judge William Sullivan ordered the panel to continue deliberating...."

From "Lindsay Clancy jury unable to reach unanimous verdict/Jurors were ordered to continue deliberating on Tuesday morning after informing the judge they could not reach a consensus on murder charges" (London Times).

"Clancy’s defence attorney, Kevin Reddington, told jurors she sought care 19 times between September 2022 and January 2023 for her depression, anxiety and insomnia. In that time, he said she was prescribed 12 drugs — antidepressants, sleep aids and an antipsychotic — by five healthcare providers. 'My God, what does she have to do? She was reaching out for help, and she was not getting it,' Reddington said....Clancy cried at the defence table throughout the state’s closing argument. Her attorney, Reddington, told the jury: 'This young lady did nothing wrong in her life. She was a nurse. A daughter. A wife. And a darn good mother.'"

Insanity should not be an excuse. Ever. If you murder your own children, you are insane.

slightly ot:
In CO - An otherwise good Republican (Barb Kirkmeyer)
had her staff read the legislation /now law, that allows criminals and their defense council to proclaim:
"Unfit to stand trial" - and they are automatically released. Total insanity. Democrats wrote the law - and GOP staffers read it and suggested the GOP vote for it. Stupid GOP did so.
Now criminals walk free and commit more crime. As is occurring.

We need a law to protect citizens from staffers. Also a law that forces the actual elected official to read the legislation.

The voices in the jurors' heads should be screaming "Guilty, guilty, guilty!"

That's obscene.

The three men hung the jury.

Such a great mother she waited until one of her children was five before she murdered them.

wendybar said...

Now we know why the biased women in the jury wore their pink shirts in honor of their new heroine!!!!

Reddington, told the jury: 'This young lady did nothing wrong in her life.

Define "WRONG."

That's a George Costanza line. Remember the episode where he got fired for banging the office cleaning lady on a desk?

Costanza's responded, pretending to be perplexed, "WAS THAT WRONG???"

Clancy's lawyer..."Yes she strangled her there children. But ask yourself, WAS THAT WRONG???"

Send the comet. We're fucked.

The judge has sent the jury back to try again.

Let's hope the three men hold out.

“And a darn good mother.”

@Althouse, Lefties apparently have a different definition of what it takes to be a “darned good mother” than we normal people have.

Is evil the Althouse blog theme of the day?

Jack Kevorkian (Dr. Death) arrived too early on the scene.

Luigi Mangione should really reconsider his plea- I now believe he had a great chance of never being convicted.

She was good enough, smart enough, and doggonnit people liked her.

Define "darn good".

Clearly NOT a good mother. There was some talk about her story changing though. Experts said that her motives fit the pattern of so-called "altruistic murder-suicide." She didn't, so the story goes, want the children to suffer after she killed herself. Anyway, as the case went on, Clancy claimed that a male voice in her head told her to kill the children. Psychosis may have been easier to sell to a jury and more likely to win her leniency.

Gusty Winds said...

Lest we forget... the children's names were Cora (age 5), Dawson (age 3), and Callan (8 months). The father's name (and the fourth victim) is Patrick.

Yancey Ward said...

Does anyone believe that, had Clancy been a single young father who did the same things, he wouldn't have been convicted inside of the first hour of deliberations by the exact same jury?

1. GoFundMe for Patrick Clancy raised $1,075,411.
2. GoFundMe for Lindsay Clancy’s parents raised $1,106,948.
3. Patrick Clancy’s wrongful-death / malpractice suit against Lindsay Clancy’s health care providers seeks over $1,000,000 in damages.
4. Lindsay Clancy’s malpractice suit against her medical providers seeks over $1,000,000 for: past and future medical expense, past and future lost wages, pain and suffering, emotional distress, including “the knowledge that she killed her children”, loss of enjoyment of life, permanent disability (paralysis from the jump), loss of consortium with her husband and children

On August 10, 2026, Massachusetts governor Maura Healey signed the "Prioritizing Patient Access to Care Act" which removed any gestational age limitations on abortions. Behind her were a smiling, enthusiastic crew of liberal white women.

Now in Massachusetts, a jury is hung over a clear case of murder and infanticide.

And liberals tried to tell us all these years that the "slippery slope" argument was bullshit.

Send the comet.

I read her doctors didn't know about each other. Was that in the testimony?
Anyone want to bet the jury is split by sex? The manslaughter option seems guaranteed to cause trouble. It's a nonsensical compromise choice.

Hard for me to accept that this is not fiction.

Well, except for that one slip up. But we all make mistakes, amirite?

Someone on X asked Grok "how would you rule [in the Lindsay Clancy trial] The Grok / AI answer below:

Grok: "Based on the evidence of goal-directed planning (searching drive times, sending her husband on specific errands to create isolation), her coherent daily activities that day, and sequential methodical acts, the Commonwealth met its burden. She retained substantial capacity to appreciate wrongfulness and conform her conduct to the law. I would find her guilty of first-degree murder."

AI has surpassed the intelligence and moral compass of liberal white women. I realize that's a low bar.

She needed a lawyer with chutzpa and, man, did she ever find one!

Everyone's assuming that most or all of the women are holding out for not guilty. While I have no doubt the holdouts are women, I have faith that it's less than half of them.

I guess the "A Good Mother" label has some really low standards.
