... this post is for you.
ADDED: I'm watching. My normal practice is to mute commercials, but we've been keeping the sound on because the commercials are a big deal. Maybe it's because I'm not used to hearing commercials at all, but, man, these commercials are noisy. Thumping music and the kind of exaggerated sound effects that have ruined movies over the past 20 years. Also, the game seems to exemplify the most boring things about football — flags, punting, bleh.

Go pats.
The refs really want the Patriots to win.
Then they can say the Saints would have lost anyway.
The hardest thing about watching the Super Bowl is remembering to take bathroon breaks during the game, not the commercials.
It's an amazingly hard habit to suppress.
The battle of the UGA running backs: Worley vs. Michel.
Only the Patriots second trip to the Super Bowl since 2018. Only their third trip since 2017.
Pats lose Super Bowls when their opponets defensive line smashes their offense, either by force or by coverage sacks. Otherwise fuggehtaboutit.
First time in a long time the Patriots key offense players are all healthy. Usually Gronk or slot1 is missing.
You should watch the puppy bowl instead of these overpaid monkeys.
Go Eagles! No, wait. Go Saints! That's not it either.
Go Pats!!!!!!
Brady will be only player with 6 Super Bowl rings.
Glad it's CBS, Romo is not bad. The ESPN crew would have been horrible.
"Then they can say the Saints would have lost anyway."
I think the Eagles were the strongest team not to have made it.
Love the Ram's 'throwback' unis
I wonder if all of the other overpaid monkeys who didn't make it to the big game are beating up their baby mama's today.
Overpaid monkeys? Can’t resist can you.
What's to resist? It is what it is. Call a spade a spade.
Super Bowl commercials 2019
Kelly Bundy has aged well
Good Lord, can't Edelman fair catch anything?
Am I the only guy who was deeply offended by the "Handmaids Tale" ad?
Ridiculous call on hard hit. You can't do that in football?
So I guess the refs have been instructed to call everything they can (and more) on that Rams defensive back.
"Am I the only guy who was deeply offended by the "Handmaids Tale" ad?"
That stuff's spooky, I don't watch it, doesn't appeal to me, but I'm not sure I found it offensive. (But not a guy.)
I don't!
How are they overpaid peel? You have a problem with Capitalism too?
How was that not pass interference in the end zone?
Going to stream Vera in a few minutes, when the pizza is done.
Because the ball was not catchable.
Wow, Gostkowski blows a chip shot. Not good sign for Pats
Does the Klan not meet on Superbowl Sunday, Peel?
Hmm, Samuel L. has had some work done, I see!
[Seriously, why do you all engage him??]
NFL tour of Atlanta. CEO Roger Goodall escorted by a King. How much did the NFL pay for that? How much for the Thunderbirds flyover?
Great commercial for Bud Light. But I don’t drink light beers.
Not a great game so far. Everyone's tight. Defense is good. Both of them.
Expensify?
"Am I the only guy who was deeply offended by the "Handmaids Tale" ad?"
Especially considering the aborticomaniacs recently normalizing infanticide.
Margaret Atwood is an author only an unthinking and unreflective woman could love.
Not watching the Superbowl but happy Colin Kaepernick (it grieves me I know how to spell his last name) is once again, not employed in football for another of his quickly dwindling peak years.
Pepsi commercial SUCKS.
Liked that Audi commercial!
(Pepsi sucks.)
Thumping music and the kind of exaggerated sound effects that have ruined movies over the past 20 years.
*************
The "Loundess War". Its everywhere...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war
Holy Cow!! Was that a Bud Light, or a Game Of Thrones commercial?
I'm at sea level, and it is snowing in Seattle.
@FIDO, today I read that Kaepernick turned down a contract for $900,000. With a brain that bad, how does he remember to breathe?
I thought that Bud Light corn syrup rip on Coors was sort of bizarre. Bud Light has been using rice, corn and other cheap adjuncts to make its crap beer. I guess they draw the line at corn syrup?
Brady to Edelman is the only offense on either side. Plus Gronk every now and then.
"I'm at sea level, and it is snowing in Seattle."
Unpossible. Snowfalls are a thing of the past.
Hyundai has had the only great commercial so far.
Yes, Hyundai's 'Beet Loaf' was funny
Why no Todd Gurley?
"I thought that Bud Light corn syrup rip on Coors was sort of bizarre. Bud Light has been using rice, corn and other cheap adjuncts to make its crap beer. I guess they draw the line at corn syrup?"
I liked the commercial, but yeah.
It's been a long time now, but remember when Bud was "beechwood aged". Miller blew the whistle on that; they were throwing a few slats of lumber into the vats. (Of course, a long, long time ago, the vats were beechwood.)
into
Northam about to resign.
Mind you, I would turn down that much money, if it meant being tackled by Ndamukong Suh.
The Pringles / fake Alexa commercial was a huge hit with the 7 & 9 years old crowd here.
I liked the pringles ad, and the nuts ad too!
Planters has ripped off the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile.
Charlie Sheen? Apparently he's been rehabilitated.
Terrible game. Terrible commercials.
"Terrible game."
They're tight, and it's a defensive game.
The Bd / GoT thing was weird.
I watched Gladys' beautiful rendition of our National Anthem & returned to watching the uncut "Blues Bros. on Amazon Prime.
I like defense.
Yes, Gladys did a nice job.
The Bd / GoT thing was weird.
And inappropriate for a show kids watch.
Who knew SJP had boobies?
Jeff Bridges has bills to pay as well, I guess
I'll vote the Hundai elevator commercial as best in the first half.
Oops, the dude abides. Snuck in at the 2 minute warning. lol
So we like football again? I thought conservatives were boycotting the overpaid ingrates on and off the field.
"I'll vote the Hundai elevator commercial as best in the first half."
I liked it too. Maybe Althouse will do a poll.
Romo's words are good but he has sort of a junior sidekick whine to his voice.
He needs to sound more like Madden he needs to sound more like he is absolutely sure of what he is saying. Not like he is trying to convince us of something. Leave that to the advertisers, dude
Given how poorly the Rams' offense has played, they're lucky to be down only 3-0. Gotta wonder whether the disparity in time-of-possession (almost 2:1, Patriots) will result in the Rams' defense tiring in the second half and allowing the Patriots to break things open?
Rams defeated the Chiefs 54 - 51 earlier in year. Neither that offense nor defense showed up today.
Gladys Knight: Long may she wave.
nice overhead shot of Atlanta area. All those wind/ solar powered lights very impressive
They are paid millions to play a game. All professional players are overpaid.
Especially the criminals in the National Felons League.
All of those wildly enthusiastic arm-wavers around the stage have to be being paid for that, right? The Maroon 5 was listenable, but I had to mute the rapper.
Fun trivia about Gladys Knight - Ronald Reagan made a joke about the Pips ( a great singing group and not the sort of people who should be made fun of in a disrespectful way for their names) back when he was President. It was not a funny joke - it is kind of silly to make fun of the moniker of a band or a singing group - but it was not a mean joke either, just the sort of joke people who like other people, and who like to riff on funny words or funny expressions, would make, in the assumption that we are all human beings, and language is something we can laugh about.
According to the then respected mainstream media, Gladys and the Pips understood that the joke was not meant in a mocking way, and did not get angry.
Fast forward ---
In case you do not want to look up the joke, I think it went something like this -
Reagan: "I love Georgia. I won the electoral vote in Georgia, and loved campaigning there. I would have won by 3 more votes if the Pips had not been on tour out of state on election day. Well, maybe by 3 more votes ...."
A FUR COAT? Oh, the SJWs at PETA will throw a fit!
Why are there multiple rappers when every piece sounds the same?
Have we had a shirtless Super Bowl concert performance before? And was it necessary this time?
So far only the Stella Artois ad seems smart.
Janet Jackson was shirtless...
The virtue commercials all blend together. I suppose they don’t care I can’t recall the products either...
No, rehajm, Janet just had a nipple-slip. Adam Levine was almost ready to go Full Monty!
How many flags have burned for Saint Kaepernick?
The theme in commercials tonight is call-outs to other curent social references.
Big Boi and SJP will both be pissing off PETA.
I'm not watching. Lotsa preachy Gillete-type ads, reminding all of the deplorables how deplorabe we all are?
Super Bowl VII was lowest scoring ever. Miami 14 Washington 7
This game reminds me why I don't care much for pro football.
Flea was shirtless.
So we like football again? I thought conservatives were boycotting the overpaid ingrates on and off the field.
**
This conservative still is. I believe most of the others are not so much for the Superbowl as they are FOR social gatherings and to enjoy or sneer at the ads: a long American tradition.
Edgy humor of past Super Bowls ads is gone, a no-go zone.
Seems like everyone knows by now that taking a knee is less an individual protest and more of a genuflection to the social justice bullies.
This is the NFL, right? I just saw my first penalty, but then I'm not watching closely.
The LA punter is their MVP so far.
To me, the most amazing thing about this game is that Brady is 41. 41 years old.
Goff better get rid of the butterflies. The Rams offensive line might want to show up also.
Is there a singer who's name is a tongue trill?
"Focus on social justice"
It's football people!
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Fucking Wade Phillips.
A 41 year old American male has the life expectancy of 2 healthy chihuahuas.
So Brady has 20 years to go to adopt a puppy chihuahua and expect to outlive it.
That being said, I have watched a few NFL games live, and being a QB looks like a much more easy job live than it does on TV.
Of course it is Not an easy job if you do not like being tackled to the ground several times every fifteen minutes
but it is sort of an easy job if you are trained and in good shape and do not mind playing a tough game
Ok - I admit I chuckled out loud at the T-Mobile commercial where the Lyft driver announces ‘I’m here for you’
Brady cannot throw deep at all.
Atlanta had a super artery major Interstate blown up by vagrants recently, ergo there is no Super, nor Bowl, nor no combination.
LA needs a trick play. This could end 3 to 0, but no one will know until tomorrow morning.
Bill Republic of Texas opined: "So we like football again? I thought conservatives were boycotting the overpaid ingrates on and off the field."
Do you follow the NFL? The players were doing the kneel down during the National Anthem. Some guy named Trump made it an issue. Guess what happened? The kneel down received less and less publicity because fewer players were doing it. So I am watching the NFL again. And maybe a few other are also.

What a boob you are Koey.
Did you look to see if his nips were aroused?
Am I the only guy who was deeply offended by the "Handmaids Tale" ad?
It’s BS because there’s creepy robot child ads.
I’m watching the ads. That football stuff is fast forward filler.
America and Americans are incapable of satisfying Bwyahaway ergo satistfaction itslef is susecp[t.
RE: The kneel down. There was some player, I think from the Dolphins, who was complaining the press was ignoring his protest.
I’m not watching, but The Clydesdales are finally back in a Super Bowl Ad. I have watched this ad several times the past few days – along with 17MM others.
Thanks Anheuser-Busch. (Hope I linked properly)
2019 Budweiser Clydesdale Ad
Yeah football is great with me. They compromised, the players are allowed to wear shoes with messages. It's a good compromise.
After III quarters of Super Bowl LIII, it's III-III.
Dec 28, 2018 "(Miami Dolphin Robert) Quinn lashed out at reporters Thursday over the lack of coverage he’s received over his fist-raised protest during the national anthem, something he's done since joining the Dolphins in the offseason, according to the Miami Herald."
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/miami-dolphins-robert-quinn-complains-about-lack-of-coverage-for-his-protest-during-national-anthem
I can see 2-3 overtimes.
Commercials suck. Half time show sucked. Game itself sucks.
The comments here are the best part about the super bowl. Ads are so woke I be like nails on a chalkboard.
SUPRA! I WANT!
Jackson they de aged for captain marvel, which occurs around the time of pulp fiction but cleanshaven
One of my favorite commercials is the 2012 Budweiser Canadian Super Bowl ad.
https://www.ispot.tv/events/2012-super-bowl-commercials/budweiser-canada-flash-fans
That and the Darth Vader car commercial, though I couldn’t tell you the type of car so it wasn’t very effective. Budweiser wins.
Andy Warhol was a stupid man. He was eating a plain burger and dipping it in catsup.
CBS seems to be advertising themselves a lot. Did they overcharge for ads?
Budweiser uses wind power from windmills that don't spin. Those clever bastards.
Wondering what percent of viewers know who Andy Warhal is. He died in 1987!
God, windmills are eyesores.
The earlier commercial of the handicapped kids included a little girl who was our neighbor in Los Angeles. An adorable kid that came to our house almost everyday to play with our dogs. He father is a producer of commercials. We noticed her right away. She is the epitome of overcoming handicap - irrepressible and fearless. When you are around her, you completely forget the formidable challenges she has. Her parents are the opposite of helicopter parents, and it has done her wonders. She is exceptional becuase of the freedom she is given, as we all can be with freedom.
So many light beer commercials. Does anyone really drink that stuff? Life's too short to drink cheap (watery) beer.
An ad for girls football? Fits the game.
A great interception followed by a great run.
Kia.
"So many light beer commercials. Does anyone really drink that stuff?"
Nobody I know.
Budweiser is now brewed with wind power.
Another reason not to drink that foreign-owned beer.
Liz Cheney would make a good ad with her tweet:
"This week Dems tried to remove God from witness oaths, advocated killing babies after they’re born, voted to give sexual predators a taxpayer funded pay raise, & attempted to give fed govt massive power over all Americans’ free speech. And that was all before Friday."
Wonder why the WaPo felt the need to buy a Super Bowl ad?
Worst commercial: WAPO.
Everything great about America sponsored by everything that’s wrong with it.
Romo should start selling insurance, get him off TV....
WaPo - House organ for the New Fascist Democratics.
They still claim Kashoggi was a reporter.
Post’s commercial made me want to puke.
Congrats, Patriots. Tom Brady, please retire. Jets fan talking.
Which beers are brewed with the heat from burning tires?
The Trump curse strikes again.
Rams gonna turn down invite?
You lose !
Drinking beer releases CO2.
Is there even beer in Venezuela?
Asking for an amigo.
Windmills? What windmills?
I only saw horses. Clydesdale horses.
That's it, the old men win again. Yea! Wish bama could have been so lucky, darnit. Wasn't pretty, but whatever.
Horses release greenhouse gasses.
They were in the background,
I only saw horses. Clydesdale horses.
The end of your commercial is all virtue signalling. Windmills/clean energy/climate change/green weenies.
Been a long time since I watched a game. I miss John Madden. The commercials sucked, especially WaPo, that was nauseating. Windmills, are you kidding me?? I miss the commercials from years ago. funny and edgy at times. The game itself seemed pretty tame. No real excitement. Just not the same, at least to my old eyes.
I love that the Rams said they wouldn't go to the Whitehouse if they won. LOL. fools. That Trump curse is real you idiots.
Brady in the 4th quarter. As close to a lock as you can get. But I would pick Edelman for MVP.
The Belmont and the Preakness are next. Another triple crown?
not following closely.
They should follow rollerball rules that was set in 2018, but we are much stranger now.
Our TV sound kept going out during the halftime show rapper number. I blame Trump.
As a Steeler fan, my hat's off to Belichick and Brady. Best NFL coach and QB ever.
In the meantime, we are stuck with Mike Tomlin. Squandered enormous talent and now it's gone.
Crank up another national Hate-the-Patriots Tour.
Pats win, 13-3, covering my point spread. Yah!
“God, windmills are eyesores.“
Budweiser—now made with eyesores.
Super Bowl commercials in the era of that’s not funny aren’t as fun.
The WaPo ad highlighted the importance of a functioning press. When you consider the performance of the press we have - it's infuriating.
On to the next biggest entertainment event, Trump's State of the Union extravaganza.
As Flounder said: "This is going to be great".
What Brady digit is this ring for?
Democracy dies in blackface.
Interesting that for "When America is attacked..." the WaPo chose a picture of the OKC bombing rather than one from 9/11.
But then, the WaPo's enemies are domestic rather than foreign, aren't they?
What Brady digit is this ring for?
Gisele Bündchen's left nipple.
Blogger Clyde said..."Interesting that for "When America is attacked..." the WaPo chose a picture of the OKC bombing rather than one from 9/11."
Yeah, I noticed that.
Boston, a liberal coastie city, won another championship. Best sports city in the country. Suck it flyover deplorable. We rule.
Our TV sound kept going out during the halftime show rapper number.
Ours did once before I hit mute. Not your TV.
Haven't had one of my teams win a championship since October, so this was welcome.
"Boston, a liberal coastie city,..."
What the fuck is Los Angles?
Delingpole calls wind turbines "eco-crucifixes"
I guess all those voodoo dolls that angry St Louis fans were puncturing throughout the game really did pay off.
Can you imagine being so blasé about winning Superbowls that you don't bother having celebratory sex with Giselle. I saw Brady suppress a yawn in the post game interview......,.Close game but boring. Commercials weren't much fun. Is there anyone on earth who considers beer made with corn syrup a deal breaker........Well, Giselle is happy, That's all I really care about.
I wish that the only problem with windmills was their ugliness. After all, most power plants are pretty ugly, too. But they kill birds, especially including protected and even endangered species. (The federal gov’t gives windmills a waiver from the endangered species act.) Moreover they produce power in an irregular and not especially predictable fashion.

Yeah, so what. weren't all of the SB ads full of virtue-signallying crap?
I'm thinkin' we'll see puppies next year. Cute little puppies with the Clydesdales.
"...most power plants are pretty ugly, too."
But the footprint of a power plant is minuscule compared to a wind farm of the same power output (assuming there even was such a thing).
Turned in for the last 30 minutes and didn't miss anything!
Hope Tom Brady retires.
Never watch the commercials. Zip right past them, or have someone zip them.
Haven't seen a half time show in 20 years.
Now I'm down to just watching the 4th quarter.
Good news from the Bible:
We can make our plans but the Lord determines our steps.
I have my faults but I am humble and that verse really cheers me up.
Boston may have the Super Bowl winners, but Wisconsin and Minnesota own curling.
Curling has everything that matters: Ice, rocks that curl and kiss, ends, the button, the hammer, brooms, guard stones, plus post-match beer and pizza. What's not to like, eh?
WaPo ad featuring intel agent Khashoggi, who dished out propaganda via his WaPo column: WTF?
Progs truly are shameless.
"Boston, a liberal coastie city...."
Hmm, I wonder if Brady, Belichick and Kraft et al will visit the non-liberal White House.
I hope the President does not invite them.
Let them take a knee.
@Original Mike, point taken.
The National Felons League has forfeited the goodwill of the nation.
President Trump should stand with the police and not cop killers and their enablers.
Traveling out west, the sight of those mammoth wind farms made me ill. To me, that qualifies as a high crime.
They hope Qatar will take it off Bezos hands for a song.
I see that Edelman is in fact the MVP. He and Gronkowski came up big.
Digital distancing - reading the comments on the Superbowl commercials others are watching. It didn't sound like much fun, an audience with narrowed, checking-for-propaganda eyes watching commercials awash with attempts to placate various groups ("Clydesdales and windmills, deplorables and millennials, they'll love it, Tiffany, said Amanda." A snarl came from the corners. "Sellout", said Mike massaging his old wound. "Yeah," said Jasper, turning his PIG shoes to the light the better to admire the thought. "Vote jvbewvebv in 2020" came from the last corner as the 2020 Superbowl continued to meander through everyone's lives, being pushed on like a bum in a sneaky liberal way to other states, other places. Where will this stinking heap of dirty rags find sanctuary?).
Titus said...

Really, Titus, do try to keep up dear. The Pats aren't cool.
The Daily Beast called the Pats "the preferred team of white supremacists" and the SJWs were all rooting for the Rams because Kraft is friends with Trump. The little Brit twit who played Harry Potter tweeted out that he didn't want the Pats to win because Brady once displayed a MAGA hat in his locker.
https://twitter.com/thedailybeast/status/1091886551699738624
So we flyover deplorables are quite happy the Pats won and all the lib journalists and Hollywood types have a sad.
That was one boring SB.
Having spent the season watching the Patriots, I have to hand it to the Rams defense. There were so many plays that normally got a whole lot more yards. I think the Rams tackling kept them in the game. Catching the receiver the minute he catches the ball.
Belichick nearly blew a gasket when the ref went over and let the Rams’ coach know he was stupid to accept that penalty. That mistake would have given the Patriots an extra down and pretty much ended the game. If the Pats had lost after that, you could have argued that that was as big a fuckup by the Ref as two weeks ago. I am not 100% sure that is what happened, but it sure seemed like it.
My goodness that was boring. I don't think I have watched a full NFL game in a couple of years - the NFL had taken most of the fun out of watching - and that was not an enticement to come back.
The WWE NXT halftime special on YouTube was quite good, so there was that.
I liked when Brady called out “Reagan” as an audible for a run to the right.
The Rams boofed..
I thought it was fascinating. Extremely interesting to see two offensive powerhouses get shut down by great defense.
"I thought it was fascinating. Extremely interesting to see two offensive powerhouses get shut down by great defense."
Me too. I've never been much for defenseless, up-and-down the field shoot outs. That's what I find boring (unless it's the Packers doing the scoring).
Boston, a liberal coastie city, won another championship. Best sports city in the country.
That's because they pay big bucks to import barbarian talent. Reminds me of the late Roman Empire relying on barbarian soldiers.
He and Gronkowski came up big.
They got enough first downs to soak up the time.
Like MLB, they need to speed up the action and shorten the length of games or they'll lose more audience. Less time between plays means the linemen will be smaller and there'll be more big plays.
Were there any official reviews?
