ADDED: I left this in draft overnight. Sorry! It does say "Published on 3/20/25 6:41 PM" in the sidebar, but somehow it ended up in draft. The accuracy of the post title depends on the date being March 20th.

Lake Mendota — 3:26 p.m.

It was still too cold (and windy) to go out for the sunrise, but it had warmed up nicely by mid-afternoon. Just look at that. Toasty! Mid-20s — the same supposedly bone-chilling cold that drove the inauguration ceremony indoors.

"Over a several-hour period, a localized zone of occasionally heavy snow dropped a couple inches on places not far from Eau Claire — and the primary culprit was exhaust from a nearby glass factory."

 WaPo reports.

That's a free-access link, because maybe you are interested in the science and maybe you are interested in Wisconsin but mostly because it's the last day of the month and the November allotment of gift links is about to expire.

The comments over there are all Human activity affects weather???!!!! Who'd've thunk it??!!!!!

I didn't vote in yesterday's primary.

I was the classic nonvoter: I didn't vote because the weather was bad. It wasn't even that bad. Early on, it was raining, but then it changed to snow, and it was even big fluffy flakes, the kind I tend to exclaim about with delight. And yet, it was windy, and it was getting a bit late.

But who was I supposed to vote for? It's Wisconsin, where I could have voted in either party's primary. The most compelling candidate was in the Democratic Party primary: "uninstructed delegation."  This morning I see, in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: "Wisconsin 'uninstructed delegation' voters more than double Biden's 2020 margin." I had a little trouble understanding what that meant.

Voters who chose "uninstructed delegation" in Wisconsin's presidential primary Tuesday more than doubled the 20,000 votes President Joe Biden won the state by in 2020, sending a warning sign for his reelection chances in the battleground state.

Now, there was some constitutional amending going on, and I missed out on that.

Men in shorts and snow.

Via "'Absolute disgrace': LAFC coach criticizes MLS for playing in blizzard/Real Salt Lake beat LAFC 3-0 in blizzard-like conditions/Referee forced to carve lines into snow on free-kicks" (The Guardian)(And they had to use an orange ball).

"It was impossible conditions. I feel terrible for the players that we put them through this. It was an absolute joke we had to play today. It was one of the worst professional sporting events I’ve ever seen in my life. The game could have and should have been called. In my opinion, it was an absolute disgrace we had to play today."

Said the manager of the team that lost.
