How many of Althouse commenters keep 6 months of cash at home, which is enough to casually spend $4000 on a trip while not worrying about not having enough cash for those 6 months, and then replenish those funds by taking $50 extra in cash each time you visit the grocery store, so you don't have to go by the bank? Anyone?

Query: If DC jury's are so terrible, why do the Know Nothing defendants allow their cases to reach a jury verdict? Why do they go to trial? Why don't they settle? What kind of advice are they getting from their lawyer? Oh that's right, Mark Steyn didn't have a lawyer.

Former President Donald Trump opened up a large lead over President Joe Biden, according to the national BIG DATA POLL conducted in February. Significantly, support for the 45th President continues to surpass the critical 50% threshold for the second survey in a row when undecided voters are forced to lean toward the candidates.

In a two-way hypothetical matchup, Trump initially leads Biden 46.1% to 39.5%, a widening of the 43.7% to 41.7% margin in the prior survey. Overall, 14.3% remain undecided, essentially unchanged from 14.6%. In December, BIG DATA POLL measured support for President Trump above 50% for the first time ever, including leaners or not.

Biden should do what LBJ did and drop out. He won't, he's a narcissist and only cares about himself, but he should.

I wonder how many Althousers are marveling at how STUPID and BRAINDEAD the scammers are who inundate our email with "Congratulations! You have Won......" fancy and expensive stuff. I must get 8 to 10 each day. By now I should have a houseful of "free stuff."

Then there's the "Get Netflix for a full year for $2.00!. Just give us your c/c info---but don't worry, we won't deduct anything from it!" Honest!

You can always tell these are bogus by looking at the scammer sender's email address, which NEVER mentions a real vendor. More often it's at least fifteen garbage characters long.

Or google the Unsubscribe address. They are all bogus. Yeah, it might be a real street name, but the kind of facility is not accurate.

I've decided to deal with this by assuming the perps are Indians, as so many are, and referring to them in my FUCK YOU replies as goondas, dacoits, thugs, punkawallahs, badmashes, and any other nasty pejorative I know.

My favorite is to call them filthy "dalits", the word for "untouchables", and predicting that in their next lives they will go back to cleaning sewers, tanning hides, and sweeping streets to atone for their criminality in this one.

I invite you to do the same, as many of these scammer are nothing but criminals. Their low caste might make taunts like mine something they will shudder, esp. if they still think of themselves as parcticing Hindus.

For a very entertaining YouTube video on some US-based guys bringing such fraudsters down, destroying their data center systems and bringing in the police, go here:

It's evasive, utterly implausible bullshit like this that will bring Fani "Sweet Cheeks" down. It might help her in a civil trial, but not when she's being tested for fitness to hold public office. And certainly not convincing in a criminal court. "Where did you get all that money, Fanny?"

(I note for the record that in many parts of the English-speaking world, "fanny" is a synonym for vulva or pudenda. Ironic, eh?)

Wth some luck she will eventuallymeet the same fate as Marilyn Mosby, when it's revealed how much public money she kept and spent on herself and her stallion boyfriend.

Here is another goody from the Wasteland:

The CIA cooked the intelligence on who Putin preferred in 2016. In fact their real judgement was that Putin preferred Hillary, which makes sense, remember that he had given Hillary's foundation hundreds of millions, probably to fund payoffs to get his Uranium deal done, and John Podesta, her campaign manager, worked for a subsidiary of Gazprom, and had been awarded 75K shares in that company "for services rendered." Too bad for him that the day after Hillary lost, and so the company was not going to cash in on their closeness with the POTUS, the stock went to zero.

https://twitter.com/shellenberger/status/1758216143867929022

It also makes sense that Putin would prefer the more predictable Biden over Trump, which is exactly why he said he prefers Biden.

Scott Adams has a funny cartoon about this: https://twitter.com/ScottAdamsSays/status/1758258898157584445

"My daughter said that some lady was holding him back, and people started backing up, and he pulled it out and starting shooting and spinning in a circle," Jacob Gooch Sr. said.

Gooch said his daughter was not shot, but his wife was shot in her calf, and his son was shot in his foot. Gooch said he was shot in his ankle and has broken bones in his foot.

So why do the Kansas City police insist that this wasn't a deliberate mass shooting, telling the story that the weapons were fired because of a disagreement between a couple of juveniles? Surely the Gooch family's eyes and ears are more reliable than whatever the two suspects say and, of course, multiple guns were recovered.

So Leland thinks Fani was lying but the only lies proven in yesterday's hearing came from the opposing lawyers and their poor witnesses. If Leland's Dad taught him to spend cash, he might well have that habit as well. Do you pay casual help in cash, Leland?

And what does any of this have to do with the 19 lawbreakers looking to magically find 11,780 votes while breaking into voting machines and forging documents?

The case was brought in 2012. Late into 2020, Mann was still claiming $9 million in damages. Even during the trial, his lawyers mentioned the $9 million in testimony only to get corrected that it was just nearly only 1% of that. Both defendants were found liable and forced to pay $1 in damages.

Regardless of the liability and damages; Mann is a public figure and people should be free to point out when such people are getting preferred treatment by government inquiries. A jury made up of jurors who derive most if not all of their income from government disagree with such freedom.

Let us know if you have any other questions that confound you.

When I look at Israel in the days since October 7 2023, I am always reminded of the message Golda Meir sent President Nixon when things were going badly wrong during a previous war. The message simply said: "Save Israel." I feel as if a similar simple message that reached everyone in Israel and changed permanently the entire nation as one, at once. One October 6 many Army reservists were saying they wouldn't come if called up,; on October 8 reservists went to their regiments without being called up and their wives and children supported this. Grandparents and relatives moved to support the reservists' families; volunteers worked to fill the disrupted places in the economy. Everything changed and politics and culture as they were became cut flowers soon to die off and be replaced by new species fitted to the new environment.
But what is that new environment? An outsider hardly dares to comment on Israel's pain while those living he change have scarcely begun to express it. But understanding the impact of what I might call the "Save Israel" message is now important to Americans and others. Biden's policy toward Israel has been captured by the anti-semitic left cabal which is a part of the White House policy team. Probably he doesn't know it's happened. But we must realize it.
The old lefty slogans and policies are entirely unacceptable to a united Israeli nation and the White House lefty cabal is presenting Israel with demands based on those old terms. They won't be accepted. Then what?
Save Israel. Understand. Terror organizations are not even truce partners, let alone peace partners. Attempting to found a Palestinian state on any presently existing effective power in Gaza or the West Bank is useless. There could be a Palestinian state in the future; that doesn't mean there can be one now. This is one thing the Israelis know. Save Israel. Know it, too.

According to Matt Taibbi, the CIA was very aware that Vlad Putin preferred Hillary Clinton over Trump in the 2016 election, but lied to support the Russia! Russia! Russia! hoax. The lefty narrative that he “hated” and perhaps even “feared” Hillary never made any sense. He had, after all, successfully bribed her and probably had the receipts so if nothing else could blackmail her. People who bought into the narrative that Putin hated Hillary were somewhere between liars and idiots, and quite likely a mix of both.

It’s good that there are still investigative journalists out there. Taibbi may be the last of the breed,

what are they teaching in Highschool English classes in Seattle?.. Well, What would you think?
Seattle English students told it’s ‘white supremacy’ to love reading, writing
World Literature and Composition students at Lincoln High School were given a handout with definitions of the “9 characteristics of white supremacy,”
“Worship of the Written Word” is white supremacy..
The worksheet also labels “objectivity,” “individualism,” and “perfectionism” as white supremacy..

If students deny their own racism —
or that any of the nine characteristics are legitimately racist — that is also white supremacy..

Oh! and needless to say, one of the nine is Number 8: "Binary Either/Or"
That's Right! Non racists are NON BINARY.. Isn't That Special!

Abusing executive power. Skipping past Congress. Ignoring the Constitution. Trampling on individual liberties. Targeting political opponents. This is how Biden delivers on his inaugural address promise to “restore the soul and to secure the future of America”?!

The one I’m thinking of was Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, leaders of the Weathermen terrorist organization. The FBI refused to expose “sources and methods” (believed to include warrantless wiretapping) so the two of them basically walked free. Ayers’ father was CEO of Commonwealth Edison, the Chicago electric power utility, and he was both wealthy and well-connected to the Chicago Democrat machine. Not that that would have had anything to do with his son and daughter-in-law being terrorists who got off with a minor wrist slap for Dohrn. Of course not.

Has something changed in the get trump era where we can convict people based on secret evidence? I hope not.
