Here's a hilarious take from Bridget Phetasy at The Spectator:
"I was mid-hip thrust when I found out @Shanemgillis
had called me a whore. Technically I found out four hours later, when I reviewed the footage of Saturday Night Live. My tripod was on the bench, my ring light was clamped to the squat rack and my boyfriend Tanner was holding the back-up phone for the side angle. Tanner films all my content. He is not allowed to look at me.
The “joke” was about how women dress at the gym. I know it was about me, because everything is. So I did what any survivor would do. I went to my car and filmed myself crying."

The guy is filling huge venues with men and women who pay to see him, and he's at the top of comedy right now, and he doesn't even do juggling or magic. You are bitching into your phone for free. His bitching is funnier.
The AWFLs weep
The sad part is how many people think she is making valid criticism.
The critics continue to burn down that straw man. He said you dress like a whore - not that you are a whore. I drive past whores on the street every day, and he's absolutely right. I think knowing he's right is what is most angering these women. You don't have to dress like that, or you could make the whores stop, but you can't make him wrong. The fact is that both you and the whores are doing it for the same reason: to look sexy. Isn't that the reason you are even at the gym? It's why men are there too, and I doubt they would deny it.
She’s making content for average-looking, college-degreed white women who men won’t go near
Is supposed to be funny? If it is, its too subtle for me.
That's not funny.
"You're telling me somebody wrote this — in 2026 — for SNL?"
Why is this a shock? SNL has been mostly unfunny for years.
Where is Norm MacDonald when you need him?
@Martin (11:27), +1
Only my 100,000 followers can look at me when I dress like a whore. Don't even think of looking in this direction, you creep.
As a man occasionally called to the bedroom, in these days of equal pay for equal work, I'm getting ripped off. We need to do a protest March. The oppression is almost too much to bear.
Schlesinger is a raging leftist, but even a clock's right twice a day.
…during SNLs Farley/Sandler/Spade years all the jokes were like that. The show should have died. Alas, she persisted…
Back in the day, when I had what it took, I dressed like a whore. Now I have to pay for everything.
2026 continues being a bad year for women. 2027 has big shoes to fill.
…I didn’t find the Gillis joke all that amusing but cancel culture bitter clingers like this woman kind of are…
A lot of men are 7 year olds. Yeah, not to some high-brow taste, but infinitely funnier than the screeching of the likes of janeane garofalo. your mileage may vary.
“…for SNL?” - shocked because SNL is supposed to be the tool what makes Republicans disappear. At least they have Jimmy Kimmel left…oh, wait…

Great. So now on top of all the other assaults on women’s looks, I now have to deal with ‘Are my feet dainty enough’. Will Teh Patriarchy never end!!?!
- Some feminist somewhere.
I have told all of the women around me exactly what yoga pants are.
Putting a sports bra on top of yoga pants or those ridiculous spandex yoga shorts and bouncing around with weights is just trying to get attention.
You are totally free to do it. It provides motivation for the men kinda like free only fans. There is nothing left to the imagination. Everything we need to see is right there in front of us.
My daughters will not be dressing like that and I will tell them exactly what men think of women who do.
80% of men are in the average or below average category. They don't get to participate in the fun part of women being whores and sleeping around.
Average men have to watch the tall good looking guys run through all of the women dressing like and acting like whores and then have AWFL's harangue all men after Chad and Tyrone treat them like trash.
And if you make a joke about that then REEEEEE!!!!!
There are people who have degrees and there are people who have talent
"During his [John Houseman] teaching days at Julliard School of Fine Arts, one of his students was Robin Williams, whom Houseman admired. He later advised the future comedian that he should quit Julliard since he was wasting his talent, and strike out on his own as a comedian which Williams soon did."
This lit-crit stuff will make her a star of her college English and gender studies classes, and earn her a well deserved job as a barista at Starbucks.
And, yes, thank God, the young women do dress like whores at the gym. Which I appreciate. My only objection is that they aren’t interest in me, a 76 year old grandpa. I dress too modestly for them to know what I’m built like a 40 year old stud.
Shane Gillis has a show on Netflix called "Tires." In the current season, there is an episode where Gillis (playing, essentially, himself as a tire salesman/mechanic) is accused of staring at a girl in the gym who is scantily clad in artificial bait-colored gym clothes. Seems like this issue has been on his mind for a while.
"You have the whole dumpster fire of the world, and all you can come up with is a fat joke?"
So fat jokes are not allowed? So you really don't have the whole dumpster fire of the world available to you after all?
"Women have been called whores because of the way they dress since the beginning of time..."
That sentence may not be the sick burn that this woman thinks it is. It may, in fact, imply something completely different (and apparently universal) than she thinks.
And the left still can't meme. Like all the lefties here. No amount of money is going to buy you a sense of humor.
Hey, lady! It could have been whacked in the nads jokes. Every man on the planet will laugh at a whacked in the nads joke. Except you lefty fem bois.
I thought there was a "That's not funny" tag.
The things I don’t worry about because I don’t pay attention to the NYT, SNL, or TicTok.

It wasn't funny.
But it was funnier than 99% of the jokes about Trump or conservatives on SNL.
The whole monologue is pretty funny. He is a funny guy, which makes him stand out because no one on the left is funny. The women in gym clothes bit is funny because it's true. If you have been in a gym recently, you will know what I mean. Scantily clad women taking videos of themselves and guys looking and then being kind of embarrassed for staring.
The same women so upset about this joke, are the same women who are attacking Sydney Sweeney for making money for her ads for the Sports betting company she owns an equity stake in...."At this point, what difference does it make???"
The Holy Grail for the ho-dressing content sellers is catching guys looking at you on video and then bitching about it. It's like a vegan activist filming their own deer-hunting trip.
I would support the ho-dressing if I could stare with impunity. Can we make that deal?
His females' gym attire observation would have been funnier if he had simply compared Camel Toe with Moose Knuckle among the yoga pants crowd.
I think she does an admirable job demonstrating that she is an authority on things that are not funny. I'm still not convinced that she knows what is funny, though. (I'm not saying the monologue on SNL was funny. I haven't watched it and don't plan to.)
looking at her tik-toks she's a "Low-Key" comedian. But her criticism of Gillis seems serious and not a meta-joke or satire.
It seems the guy caused a firestorm by not being PC. And that's a big no-no. As for his SNL monologue being not-funny, that's just par for the course. 90 percent of SNL for the last 20 years has been not-funny.
This young woman explains going to the gym in Japan:

It's all about "feeling hot."
Shirley she's not serious. It's a parody, no? I thought it was pretty funny.
It provides motivation for the men kinda like free only fans. There is nothing left to the imagination. Everything we need to see is right there in front of us.
Yep.
Vocal fry City.

I would hypothesize (since our TikToker is all cerebral) submit that a joke cannot be successfully deconstructed, because a great deal (if not all) of a joke's makeup is based on turning sense and sensibilities on it's head. I see her whistling past the TikTok graveyard.
"Whistling past the graveyard is an idiom that means to act or talk as if you are relaxed, cheerful, and unafraid when you are actually experiencing fear, nervousness, or anxiety."
Do these women, who are SOOO upset about Shane Gillis realise they're just going to make him more popular? He recently sold out a footbal stadium. He has a TV series that got renewed.
Yes, i find him funny. He's willing to talk about things that are verboten elswhere. Getting fired from SNL was the best thing that could have happened to him.

That's Sandra Fluke, BTW.
Women dress for the gym in hopes that some day a guy will drive up to the building in a Mercedes S-class, and walk in wearing a Rolex. They want to be ready!
Shane's joke was funny, just not that funny. Otherwise, he has made a fool and a real joke out of all the same idiots who have been around since Larry Summers made the Harvard ladies swoon in horror for suggesting they might not be as interested in or good at quantum physics or math as men. Gillis is far more outrageous on Tires than he was on SNL. Perhaps his joke as a bit flat because he had trouble dumbing it down for the faint of heart, who I guess are the show's inquisitors. He's a very nice and normal guy.
Something about "target", "over", "flak", you know?
Bring back leotards, tights and leg warmers!
She looks exactly like the kind of woman who would find such humor "NOT FUNNY". Maybe she's in on the joke and it's all meta and an extremely subtle form of irony that makes fun of outraged SNL watchers because they're mostly dumb fucks.......Shane Gillis is something new, and he's genuinely funny. On "Tires", the jokes are sometimes aimed at unconventional targets.......At the gym I go to, there are some women with Stupefying Jones type bodies, and they're functionally nude. I can see why they wear such outfits. Those bods just don't happen. You can witness the effort that goes into it. Or rather you can't. Protocol demands that you look away when they strike some strop club pose as part of their work out. There's definitely something funny about this--both the skin tight clothes and the elaborate pretense that it's not sexual.
Joan Rivers used to play a game called "Starlet or Street Walker" with photos of provocatively clad women.
SNL does have some funny bits even now. This probably wasn't one of them. If somebody out there still watches maybe they could calculate the funny parts to duds ratio.
When this woman tells people she posts comedy bits to Tik-Tok, I wonder if she feels impostor syndrome?
