Glenn Greenwald takes a stand for procedural fairness and professional journalism.
Here's the whole segment:
NEW: Glenn Greenwald slams AOC and the press for branding the accused Cornell students "gang rapists" without a trial.

None of the seven has been charged, yet a sitting member of Congress described the allegations as fact.

The alleged victim is suing her own sorority. What for? Apparently for forcing Jane Doe to drink 10 shots before she went out to party. That is pretty damning.
Well said and I agree. On this issue - Glenn is correct.
Why is she protected? Jane Doe? - oh come on.
According to my sources, Jane Doe voted for Trump.
There, that ought to do it.
Do you ever think of renouncing feminism, prof., in favor of traditional Judeo/Christian sexual ethics?
"people motivated by money do lie...."
We've been told repeatedly this is impossible with American women. "Believe them all" we were told. Could it be, that #shetoo can lie? We shan't believe it!
We should believe all women. Her name really is Jane Doe.
CNN played recordings of a phone call last night from one of the accused men to Jane Doe. To protect Jane's identity, they did not play her portion of the call but put some of it on the screen in text form and had the CNN anchor read it.
Then they had two talking heads discuss the portion of the call that was allowed to be aired.
In all fairness, if you publicize the accuser's name her dowry goes astronomical.
"The alleged victim is suing her own sorority. What for?"
Maybe we can read the complaint, but I would guess that it has something to do with why she got uninvited from the party she'd looked forward to, some kind of social exclusion powered by the sorority sisters, carried out by the brothers.
This seems to be the complaint: https://www.courthousenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/doe-cornell-new-york-supreme.pdf
Accepting the Grok summary of the document, the claims against the sorority seem to be:
"Allowing or failing to stop her intoxication and the trip to the bar after the house mother observed her condition.
"Inadequate training and supervision of the house mother and sober monitors.
"Insufficient policies, or failure to implement policies, on underage drinking and sexual abuse.
"Failure to warn of foreseeable risks of binge drinking and assault connected to Greek houses and events.
"The complaint also alleges an express or implied contractual / fiduciary duty arising from her membership and residence, which it says was breached by the same failures...."
So my guess is wrong.
…the timing, the shit show leftie institutions involved…follow the loose connections from the lawyers to the war room bunkering the Democrat strategists…
"Allowing or failing to stop her intoxication"
Peak mommy mommy.
…bread and circuses and you like bread and circuses…
Perhaps the good news here is that all Colleges everywhere - frat and sorority houses especially - must ban all drugs and alcohol. Zero tolerance.
No more fun for U.
"Sheesh. You fuck onelarge group of guys..." - Jane Doe
"I am Stronk and Empowered and Capable of Making My Own Decisions but also I want an infinite number of female nannies and male authority figures to tell me what, or who, I can put into my body.
You know, the feminists are always complaining that in Victorian times, women were treated "like children."
And they're demanding we return to that system -- when they want that system in place, at least.
They may wind up getting their wish, because people have had enough of this shit."
- Disinformation Expert Ace (https://acecomments.mu.nu/?post=421658)
So basically the sorority is being sued for failing to treat her like a 2 year old. Does the girl have no agency? Maybe she should sue her parents for letting her attend college before she was mature enough to leave home.
God, I’m sick of rape hysterias.
Americadomesticus Beckiensus is gonna love hijabs. Complete anonymity with more or less complete access to private parts. She could have a gangbang a day and no more walks-of-shame, just dorm hallway mornings filled with the black-draped apparitions of the ghost of Cousin It quickly shuffling back to their rooms before the religious police show up.
The sorority still seems to be in support of Jane Doe even though they are getting sued: https://www.instagram.com/cornelltridelta/
“Allowing or failing to stop her intoxication“
Well there goes the “my body, my choice” plank of the Feminist core beliefs.
This whole event is getting farcical.
Failing to stop/failure to warn: so, under late-capitalist feminism, women don't have agency after all? Like, they need someone else to tell them the obvious, supervise them 24/7, and take responsibility for their actions? So, feminism is just a subspecies of situational prog ethics?
I heard that she was butt-hurt (because of her past history of bad behavior) - over being de-invited to one of the parties???
Release her name. Not just temporarily like Michael Tracey did. But for the world to see.

The sorority still seems to be in support of Jane Doe<
A group of callow, third wave feminism-indoctrinated university women? But of course.
Jane was taught that there is no right and wrong when it comes to sex, only consensual and non-consensual. She believed it, but turns out it's not true.
Perhaps she feels: "I consented, the boys consented, so why am I being punished afterward as though I have done something wrong?"
"Why am I a slut? Why am I a bad girl now? Why am I being ostracized and shamed and shunned? It was all consensual."
"But if it was wrong for me, then it was wrong for them too! Right? If I am to be punished and have my reputation destroyed, well then I want them punished too. It's only fair! Why should they keep their reputations? Why the double standard?"
"And why should I not turn the tables on them? Let them cry about unfairness and double standards for a change!"
But the people who taught her and the boys that there is no right and wrong, only consent, walk away scot free and go on to teach the same to a new class of incoming kids.
Cornell removed the fraternity from all things Cornell. Closed it up. The sorority is apparently still in Cornell’s good graces. No mystery as to why.
Greenwald and Tracey have advocated for online anonymity. They have (persuasively argued) that anonymous communication is a powerful check to government power and helps normalize debate around important issues. Anonymity is a well-worn American tradition. The many pamphlets written on the eve of the Revolutionary War were often signed "Anonymous"! (Obviously, liberals argue that anonymity makes users feel uninhibited and allows them to post "hateful content" without fear of consequences.)
So I wonder why the reputations and personal safety of incels and dirtbag liberals spewing their nonsense online under "anon" accounts are so much more important than this 20 year old girl (who probably was gang raped)?
Apparently, one of the guests on that show, Michael Tracey, has revealed the identity of the plaintiff, and much ado was made. As I've posted before, her name is out there, and it's not hard to find. There are photos, and possibly videos of her showing off her body building physique. I wish I was built that well.
If the civil suit is successful, there could be a lot of restructuring of campus life.
Would that be bad? Whether the 7 deserve criminal charges or not, we probably all agree that there are some bad conditions around drinking, drug use, and sex. You might prefer to do nothing about all that and just give adults the freedom to do terrible things to themselves and others. But if you think there should be law against at least some of it, what law would you want.
What would you think of a law that made a crime out of group sex? No need to inquire into consent. All who participate are guilty of a crime. If you were physically forced, you'd have a defense, but all who do the act are guilty and can't defend themselves by saying the other person consented. If you say no to that, say why? No more orgies. We can discuss whether you want to include groups as small as three.
If Sororities and frat houses cannot police themselves - then yeah - the dems who run the show in these blue states can write some laws.
small lol - like that will happen?
What's so important about consent anyways? We don't accept consent as a defense to prosecution for assault or abuse in cases involving BDSM. (BDSM is an umbrella term for a wide range of bizarre sexual practices that involve physical bondage.) Consent is seen as “immaterial” and does not allow bodily harm. I'm okay with that in a group sex context as well.
Maybe the law should be F*cking under the influence. an FUI citation. Don't make the sex illegal, just the engagement of it while intoxicated. (I know impossible to enforce.) But the real thing is, if you choose to voluntarily get intoxicated, you lose all special privileges. The real consequences of bad behavior belong to the person making poor choices. Consequences is how we learn not to make bad choices. Some people HAVE to touch the hot stove. Don't sue the cook. No adult should be able to claim tort because someone did not stop them from doing what they wanted.
As for campus life, yeah, there is an ethic that is allowed to perpetuate, and parents are idiots if they do not teach their kids the danger. We have the right laws. Forced sex. illegal. Drunken sex. Stupid. Underage drinking. illegal. Enforce those. But if you want to minimize the drunken sex, set up school policies to mitigate, and punish groups who violate the policies.
Group sex, while sometimes stupid should not be illegal.
Yes, Jane Doe is a body builder and there is a video on X of Jane Doe lifting more than the male Indian powerlifting champion. From investigative papers filed with Tompkins County Clerk:: "He did not recall who poured that ketamine or how much they consumed. He also indicated that Complainant "got up out of the bed and started doing like a bodybuilder pose" while [REDACTED] were in the alumni room.
Jane Doe might have had more testosterone on board than the Cornell 7.
"What would you think of a law that made a crime out of group sex? No need to inquire into consent."
You would still need to inquire into consent because one would be illegal fun, like base jumping off a skyscraper and the other would be gang rape, a violent crime, two completely different things.
USA - where you can CHOOSE to partake in the most risky, obnoxious and obscene dangerous activity imaginable - and it's still someone else's fault.
Maybe we should just outlaw group sex for the same reasons we outlaw polygamous marriage? Before the Saudis and Sudanese took over the UN Human Rights Committee, UN officials would state, categorically, that polygamy violates women’s dignity rights and is an “inadmissible discrimination” against them. Polygamy, especially in the Muslim context, has such vicious emotional and financial consequences for women and their children that it should be prohibited.
Group sex, especially the miserable filth these creeps at Cornell engaged in, can't be normal.
All of this must happen before an election, too.
So Ann wants all of society restructured because adult women are incapable of adult thinking.. How about the experiment of feminism has been a failure and we need to go back to the Victorian ideal for men and women's behavior. We didn't need all the social engineering when women were treated both with chivalry and not put in situations they were not mentally capable of handling...
Her name is out there, for those her care to search.
One would hope, that for her sake, before her lawyer filed the lawsuit publicly, that her warned her sternly that this would likely trigger a media firestorm that would damage her (yes her, despite the money) and the 7 Frat students for the remainder of their lives.
But I doubt it.
It would be interesting to see campus restructuring. On some campuses the college/university owns the Greek housing and rents out space exclusively to the Greek organizations. At others, local housing corporations own the units but the college/university has some oversight if they are a recognized campus organization. National Greek orgs also provide some structure as well.
Drinking law changes had impact years ago. When I was an undergrad, beer (3.2%) was legal for 18-21 in my state. Twenty mile away it was 18 and over for all liquor. So road trips on Thursday or Friday to prep for the weekend dorm drinking. Not sure how much alcohol responsibility training is needed for undergrads under 21 other than don’t break the law.
I would be adamantly opposed to outlawing group sex. It would backfire like the Volstead Act.
The drugs are already illegal.
But if a woman participates in an orgy at a frat house, she's a fool to believe that people won't judge her from a moral perspective and there is a double standard, like it or not.
If a guy went to a sorority party and 7 girls took him upstairs and fucked him, he would be a legend. His perceived value would be increased in the eyes of both men and women. More women would desire him than before.
For a woman, the opposite is true, she would be perceived as devalued.
Democracy, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). LOL.
Vive la [sexual] revolution!
Planned Fuckhood incorporated under the Planned Parenthood umbrella corporation. No burdens of state or mind.
How can we outlaw such things if the Cornell University administration actively promotes such activities? The university’s official health authority, Cornell Health, has publications advocating these things.
No dignity, no agency, a character revealed.
If it was diverse, and consequential, but not sequential, was the NAACP proudly involved in the maxiGreco Democratic parade?
If a guy were taken upstairs and fucked by 7 gay dudes would he be devalued. I expect he would. I think it’s the dominance part that is the key.
"For a woman, the opposite is true, she would be perceived as devalued."
Mostly by women. The part they always leave out. The sisterhood skanks that squeak the loudest would be the first to smiley-glad-hand her before calling her a slut behind her back.
It's all so tiresome.
In the spirit of the reason...
"ELAINE: So you consider this a relationship?
JERRY: Yes, I do.
ELAINE: Oh. Have you been out?
JERRY: Yes, we have.
ELAINE: Where did you go?
JERRY: The store.
ELAINE: Mm! To get what?
JERRY: Stuff.
ELAINE: Cleaning supplies?
JERRY: And gum.
ELAINE: Oh. Well, there's nothin' more sophisticated than diddlin' the maid and then chewin' some gum.
JERRY: She's not a maid. She might be a news woman!
Kramer enters."
She's strong for a woman, but much weaker than the Indian male powerlifter record. She was deadlifting around 140kg, and the Indian record is 380kg. She is probably on trenbolone like a lot of lifters are these days. A common side effect is that it massively increases sexual desire. It's often said to turn gay lifters straight and straight lifters gay. It sounds like it just removes all the filters. Could explain a lot.
"The university’s official health authority, Cornell Health, has publications advocating these things."
They have a pamphlet with 2 drawings. The first is a hand holding a razor blade about to cut a fat juicy line of ketamine on a penis. This one has a red X next to it and a frown emoji saying, "No!"
The 2nd drawing shows the same scenario but with the hand holding a credit card instead of a razor blade. There's a green check mark and a smiling emoji says, "Yes!"
"What would you think of a law that made a crime out of group sex? No need to inquire into consent. All who participate are guilty of a crime...No more orgies."
I am absolutely in favor of such a law. Liberals have been beavering away at the moral foundations of Western civilization since the Second World War, but the tide really began to roll in the Sixties. Liberals and communists demanded this so-called reform and that legalization, all the while jovially scoffing at conservatives' slippery slope warnings. In the wake of the 1969 Stonewall riots, we got the consenting-adult rulings. Today, our society is roiling over questions about sexual boundaries that previously were the stuff of pornographic science fiction; don't tell me there isn't a connection, that the moral slope wasn't like polished glass smeared with lard.
A no-orgies law would probably require a Constitutional amendment. So be it. It won't be the first time the American People rescued themselves by such a measure. Once enacted, the slippery slope that is currently the cheap laugh line of too many stand-up comedians will be reversed against the liberals and soi-disant revolutionaries. Who will be laughing then, do you suppose?
Reacting to Bob Boyd at 9:22… it was the Chi Phi President that contacted her and disinvited her to the Halloween party. What if it his reasoning had less to do with the sex and more about the underage drinking and drugs? After all, the sex, if mutually consented, wasn’t illegal. Still not considered illegal today (give Tish James some time…). But if she came to the frat house underage for a party and was served alcohol, that’s a crime. Being served Ketamine is a crime.
*****
Cornell removed the fraternity from all things Cornell. Closed it up.
*****
Notice how zero-tolerance collective punishment always applies to the smallest infractions by fraternities and their members, but the colleges never close down their dorms or disband their powerhouse football teams when the same sort of thing happens there.
College administrators in general, and Greek Life/IFC/Panhellenic functionaries in particular, seem to be the kind of people who didn't get into the fraternity they wanted, or far more commonly, the sorority. They are determined to inflict a big helping of their own misery on the rich and thin and beautiful who did get the bid. But instead of doing it the right way like that movie Revenge of the Nerds, they become busybody killjoy college bureaucrats enforcing a neo-Puritan moral code to the harshest degree of inflexibility.
"You would still need to inquire into consent because one would be illegal fun, like base jumping off a skyscraper and the other would be gang rape, a violent crime, two completely different things."
No. Rape would still be a crime. I'm proposing an additional crime that wouldn't be defined in terms of consent. You may reject my (modest) proposal because you don't like limiting the fun that may be had by some people, but my idea is premised on the belief that the harm and the difficulty prosecuting in cases of real harm justify denying some people something that would, for them, be genuinely fun.
"What would you think of a law that made a crime out of group sex? No need to inquire into consent. All who participate are guilty of a crime."
I think it would be a bad idea. Protecting adults from themselves because what they want to do is dangerous or icky or they may deem it regrettable or harmful in retrospect is a very slippery slope. I'd be very slow to accept voluntary intoxication as a reason to change the result (your hypo doesn't suggest that it should), and especially in a situation where all the players were intoxicated.
Try this:
What would you think of a law that made a crime out of abortion? No need to inquire into consent. All who participate are guilty of a crime.
Or this:
What would you think of a law that made a crime out of drinking alcohol/smoking tobacco/using weed/killing yourself/riding a motorcycle without a helmet/gay sex/etc.? No need to inquire into consent. All who participate are guilty of a crime.
As it happens, there are such laws at least for some of that. And there are possible justifications for some such laws -- dangerous behavior can impose medical and other costs on society, can endanger others, etc. And in some of those examples, that may be justification enough. But not for most of them. Orgies, which have been going on for millennia, hold no appeal for me, but (to borrow a line from the late pope) it's not my place to judge those who differ.
These "gang rapes" are occurring in BLUE STATE HELL/ Democrat run states.
Why don't they get the blame?
Regarding the Althouse no-orgies hypothetical: A radical tightening of sexual boundaries enforced by criminal statutes against group sex would have an additional salutary effect beyond on-campus Greek institutions. It will reduce if not reverse our national migrant problem. One of the more powerful attractions Western societies have for Muslims, besides our easily-defrauded welfare state, is the perceived availability of our women. They think Western women are literally whores willing and eager to couple with any stranger with an urge. That perception is strongly reinforced by our consenting-adults legal principles (assuming principles is the right word) because it filters down through the media to create an image of a society without moral boundaries. This situation hasn't affected us to nearly the same degree as it has damaged Western Europe, but it's heading that way at breakneck speed.
"Orgies, which have been going on for millennia, hold no appeal for me, but (to borrow a line from the late pope) it's not my place to judge those who differ."
Such wisdom. I must have been tripping on something fungal when I clicked the PUBLISH button at 10:56 am. Like orgies, robberies have been going on for millennia, and most of the the really big robberies do no real harm, that's what FDIC is for. Nor has Pope Francis uttered a single sentence in Latin or English against robbery since his coronation. If the pope is good with it, who am I to complain?
The Roes, Hoes, and Dozy Does have shattered the plate glass ceiling. You've come a long way, baby. Abort. LOL
"...it's not my place to judge those who differ."
Seems very enlightened, doesn't it? But it does promote a significant degree of moral relativism that can only erode the Roman Catholic Church's claim on apostolic authority proclaimed by Scripture. If Richard Dolan's citation is accurate and contextually sound, it makes one wonder what the whole pope thing is about.
Pretty good on court docs and witness statements, plus "Loosey's" picture (if that is in fact her). Damn those are some collar bones! Trenbolone...and maybe something else.
Submitted for further pondering: Patty Hearst was violently kidnapped, held, terrified and alone in a dark closet, for a protracted period of time, and was sporadically taken out of the closet to be raped. Bill Harris, the man who kidnapped her, served four years in prison for the crime. When he got out, he went on with his life. According to the NYT obit, it was a reasonably pleasant life and, so far as I know, suffered no great loss of reputation for committing this crime. If he suffered any great regret for it, it is not mentioned in the NYT obit.......It is instructive to ponder the way the left reported on Hearst's kidnappers with the way they're treating these Cornell students.
"You may reject my (modest) proposal because you don't like limiting the fun that may be had by some people"
I do think it's a bad idea, but not because I don't want to limit anyone's fun. Overall, I think you would do more harm than you would prevent by criminalizing consensual group sex, like with Prohibition.
What are the harms you have in mind? I'm thinking physical, emotional, psychological, reputational harms, but also moral harms, which are harder to quantify, but very real.
Not sure how practical it would be, but maybe the schools should ban these types of activities and invoke consequences rather than the police and the courts getting involved. After all, the schools have a responsibility to protect their young and stupid charges from harm, even from harming themselves, which they are doing. They should at least be teaching them not to do it because it's harmful to themselves and others. Instead they seem to encourage it in an almost predatory way until something happens that attracts a lot of outside attention.
Parents also need to take a greater role in preventing these kids from harming themselves and others.
With your experience you'd be a much better judge of how practical expecting the schools to police these things would be. They used to do it. Can we go back?
"Why don't [the blue states] get the blame?"
Speaking on behalf of the not-yet-blue state of North Carolina. The Duke travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham ended with the prosecutor, Mike Nifong, being disbarred, jailed, and financially ruined. Unfortunately, the 88 Duke University faculty members who created a lynch mob mentality against those lacrosse jocks are living comfortably on their Duke pensions.
Win, lose of draw all the participants in this Cornell case are losers. What they're contesting is who will be the biggest loser. Most likely it will be alleged perps, but there's no way the girl involved comes out with her reputation and anonymity intact. Well, maybe she'll win a few million from the school. That's a great consolation.........Some case are so flecked with fluff and rot that it's difficult to get a true reading on the scales of justice. I disapprove of everybody involved in this.
Leland said, "What if it his reasoning had less to do with the sex and more about the underage drinking and drugs?"
That was probably the case, but who knows? What did she think the reason was and why did she think that?
Was she the only underage drinker? Was she the only one doing ketamine? Probably not. What was top of her mind post party? The drinking and drugs? Or was it all those peckers pointed at her?
"You may reject my (modest) proposal because you don't like limiting the fun that may be had by some people"
Is Althouse trying on Swiftian shoes? Maybe, but I remind everyone that laws and moral structures ALWAYS limit someone's fun.
Perhaps we overvalue fun. Perhaps we should all voluntarily limit our fun before the imposition of enforced limits become a matter of survival.
Advocating the legislating of limitations on consensual adult sexual activity is a fool's errand. Ineffective of course. And such advocacy, itself a moral failing. Don't we know better after a few millennia of experience with such folly?
The Dems, who were most adamant about allowing/encouraging this kind of behavior are now the most puritanical.
If there's one thing they like better than an orgy, it's a witch hunt.
When I was younger, I had two, maybe three, opportunities to indulge in group sex. I refrained and frequently kick myself for doing so. I suppose if I had indulged, I would have a whole different set of regrets. That's the thing about sex and youth: whatever you do, it's probably the wrong thing. Life should be more like a vidieo game, where you get to go around a few times and explore all the options.
So, we can't have a gay old time. Too many tools.
Or, they could just enforce existing laws on campus. Crack down on underage drinking and illegal drug use.
Wouldn't that be fun.
"Or, they could just enforce existing laws on campus. Crack down on underage drinking and illegal drug use."
That would probably solve the majority of the problems.
Never. They're already having trouble with requirement. They have increasingly worthless baccalaureate degrees to sell!
"Perhaps we overvalue fun. Perhaps we should all voluntarily limit our fun before the imposition of enforced limits become a matter of survival."
Bogomilsism 2.0
Feminism keeps clanking on two extremes: rape hysteria and advocacy of disgusting perversion. When feminists aren’t advocating every type of strange and disgusting perversion, they’re going nuts over rape. The preferred orgy is some variation on creepy gay shit. The colleges stage freshman indoctrinations on how to get into gay and perverse sex, and then go ballistic over a gang banging. Feminism is an idiot ideology that, like communism, refuses to acknowledge human nature and insists that we should be ruled by Big Think ideals. Remember when factions of the gay community in SF bitterly fought to shut down the gang bang bathhouses?

More likely the lawyers talked her into suing. Prob heard about the embarrassing incident second hand and saw dollar signs.
Happens all the time.
The best news about the Cornell 7 case is that it's pretty much stopped that Lindsay Clancy "me too" murder spree in its tracks.
Now, instead of killing their young, mothers are teaching them to not rape anybody.
So that's a big improvement on the crazy lady side of the aisle.
Never forget the old axiom, that no matter how beautiful she is or how attracted you are to her, somewhere there's some guy that's been raped by her pulverizing she-hulk biceps while she was high as a kite on ketamine.

Yep. I read the piece of shit letter the national president put out to all Tri Delt members (current and former).
They're not just in support of her, but the men have already been tried and convicted by those who can't understand normal thinking.
LOL. The truth is going to be set free whether the media wants or not.
She wasn't drunk according to many parties involved.
One of the men is suing her for rape.
There are texts where she admits she was more than an enthusiastic participant and tells him to stop whining about what happened.
It also appears to me her testosterone levels may have been higher than normal to say the least.

No more of your only men go to jail and pay for everything crap.
If you actually want to be equal to men, which you obviously don't, this would be easy.
A threesome is NOT an orgy. Ask me how I know. What she indulged in was more of a gangbang than an orgy. BTW, I loved the comment about "one large group of men". "I was quite the bodybuilder. Spent years training, but do they call me Jane Doe, the powerlifter girl? But you spend ONE night...."

I did a mild amount of detective work and found the Complainant's Instagram page. She appears to have moved on from this mess with a real boyfriend and a new life in NYC. She really is quite beautiful. This lawsuit she filed has stirred the pot, but any perusal of her public Instagram postings shows a smart, stylish, wholesome young woman.
What are the chances that her attorney vetted her public Instagram posts to make sure they presented that image? 100%.
