"They cut off the internet. No blogs. No channels.... We don't want it. We don't want it. You won't find us on line."

"We don't sit. We don't sit on your internet. We don't want it. We don't want it. Don't sit. Don't sit there. I declare a whole year of everything turned upside down."

I guess with the bots cutoff from X, why would Putin need Internet?

The upbeat, cautionary tone of that subtitled Russian music video reminds me of...

Chick Habit (from Death Proof)

Hang up the chick habit
Hang it up, Daddy
A girl's not a tonic or a pill
Hang up the chick habit
Hang it up, Daddy
You're just jonesin' for a spill

As an experiment, I've intentionally unplugged from the Internet for as long as 7 days. Like a dog to his vomit, or a drunkard to his drink, I keep coming back. But the truth is that I was much happier, content, and peaceful when I disconnected.

I wouldn't write something like that about the stuff I post, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt when it comes to knowing the quality of your comments.

Here in the good ol' US of A, we debank people, cancel them, and fire them from their jobs but we always let them use the internet. That's why we're free and the Ruskiees aren't.

It's funny kind of a tautology that the more simple minded the person, the more certain they are in their opinions.

The simple humor is the Teacher sings, “Come inside, I will give WiFi to all, enough running outside” and children sing, “We don’t want your Internet, we declare this year ‘all another way around’ (or ‘upside down’, this is the clue, get it?)

Tongue in cheek, meet a face palm.

It's simply not possible for you to make a better comment.

It's perfection.

They are not wrong -- life can be miserable with the Internet. It can be miserable without it too. Choose your own life adventure and write your own ending. Carpe diem.

The old USSR mixed 20th century fashionable industrialism / atheism with a rigid moral vision. Never mind that the Party was massively corrupt. Still, cold places like the USSR, Scandinavia, and Canada routinely drift into rigid or totalitarian "winter survival" control politics.

North Korea is a unique case. I used to think they were temperamentally rigid, but then saw a documentary about the region. North Korea is sandwiched between the pro-west South and a large population of ethnic Koreans living in China. So, North Korea is better described as "Middle Korea." They are trying to survive between a rock and a hard place. China would quickly find reason to invade -- its forces flowed through toward the South during the 1950-1953 Korean War.

China at minimum views North Korea as a buffer state, and likely a target for future Taiwan / Tibet style border expansion.
