"And I try to encourage all my friends who are not Trump supporters, I tell them, don't complain. It is a majority, it's not lottery..."
"... that brought Trump to the presidency. He won the popular vote by a very significant margin. Both houses, Senate and Congress, and the Supreme Court is to some degree shaped by him. So it's significant. It doesn't come because he's a lucky man. No, there's a clear world view, a clear cultural war that he wants to wage. And it's evident. He really says what he means. It's not that there's anything hidden. And I say to everyone, if you do not agree, take America — the heartland of America — take it seriously. That's where the heart beats.... And many of my friends who are working in Los Angeles, I say, don't you come from Kansas? Yes, I come from Kansas. And I say, when were you in Kansas last time? Ah, that was 20 years ago. No, you should be every year. When did you meet your high school buddies? Oh, no contact with them at all. You have to get in touch with them, ask them how they are doing, ask them about their visions, ask them about their grievances, keep them engaged. They are your buddies, your high school friends. Do something. Don't complain. I don't like the complaints...."Says the wise film director, Werner Herzog, on the Freakonomics podcast.

A daily dose of wisdom is an excellent thing. Thank you. In leftyspeak he's urging y'all on the port side of the political vessel to "touch grass." K?
NFW that happens with any of Herzog’s targets. It’s a war and they’re losing buy there’s another election to fight for. Understanding got nothing to do with it. Besides, that’d be icky…Herzog is a good alien to try to explain this to them, though…
The democratic/dictatorial duality.
If you're on Instagram you should go check out his first post, from only a few months ago. It's hilarious.
Herzog has a twisted Hollywood view of the undereducated people in the heartland himself…
The heartland voted No. New. Wars.
No more affirmative action discrimination.
No special treatment for women, gays, trannies and those they keep...
Madison and the Milwaukee suburbs are not the heartland. Even the frozen chosen up here don't support Israel over America.
Trump said all the right things to get elected, but they've got him... You'll see who is in the minority in the heartland If he sends US troops, not the IDF, in to secure Iran's uranium. You and the hoosier boy, and Nebraska's finest Catholic in name only, do not represent...
The Kansas high school classmates who stayed behind dont want nor need those who outgrew them ... "checking in". Hth.
Go road trip the region already. You can afford the gas...
Wise advice.
Boy howdyl Rehajm is talking about "undereducated people in the heartland". You know they walk, they talk, they vote, they are U.S. Citizens, and yet it's possible to look down them because they are "undereducated". My brother and sister and I managed to accumulate several Bachelors degrees in various subjects, two Master's degrees, a J.D. a Phi Beta Kappa Key and Order of the Coif. So we are--or were--fully edumacated. (My sister and brother have both passed).
And with all of that, each of us was able to observe many highly credentialed, overeducated and otherwise intelligent--fools. Degrees and education do not necessarily create wisdom. But even the fool is entitled to and gets one vote.
Easy for him not to like the "complaints," but of course for lefties, "complaints" are the essence of TDS progressivism. They despise Trump, the uncouth yahoos, and the very history of raaccist Amerikkka. They aim to destroy and win, not to understand.
The party that rules our miserably failing schools with an iron fist, even in states where the other party controls government, is not in a position to criticize the educational achievements of anyone anywhere.
Rehajm is talking about "undereducated people in the heartland"
Boy Howdy! Herzog is talking about undereducated people in the heartland. Rehajm is talking about Herzog. Listen to the podcast…
The corrupt democrats cheat to win.
Trump won and the same leftist liars , who behave like lying soviets, lie about it and think Russia helped him.
"And many of my friends who are working in Los Angeles, I say, don't you come from Kansas? Yes, I come from Kansas. And I say, when were you in Kansas last time?"
He's preaching to the 'What's the matter with Kansas' crowd. Lotsa luck with that
The interviewer started off asking Werner whether or not he was craziest same man in the world or the sanest Crazy man
Werner replied he was all sane.
The interviewer isn't the best, but Herzog is fantastic at taking the question and carefully making it into something worthwhile.
The interviewer seems only to know the movie "Fitzcarraldo," and you can tell Herzog thinks that's not the movie to talk about. You should be talking about "Aguirre: The Wrath of God."
My friend Ed Roland played Okello the black slave in Aguirre: The Wrath Of God. He had been wandering around south America and ran into the film crew. Hertzog, liked him and wrote him into the script with a pretty major role.
Last time I talked to Ed, I had been out of the country and hadn't seen him in 10 years. He said to me "I DID get taken up in the ship, but I'm NOT saying I was probed" With those words, he got back on his recumbent bicycle and rode off.
I am not making this up... He was a frutarian who aspired to be a breatharian. Haven't seen him recently, maybe he made it.
“And I say, when were you in Kansas last time? Ah, that was 20 years ago. No, you should be every year.”
That may not work out the way Werner thinks. They may return from Kansas having seen the light. The orange light.
Herzog is great as a gangster in Mandalorian. CC, JSM
Trump can stay irrational longer than Americans can stay solvent.
“Republicans are meanwhile growing increasingly worried that high oil prices at the pump have surged to $3.84 a gallon from $2.92 a month ago, while diesel has exceeded $5 — exerting a heavy toll on US consumers and businesses— will dent their chances in the midterm elections.“ ~ FT
These Republicans are a bit slow if only now they are getting worried. I mean pick your poison, there are upwards of ten topics that aren’t going well for Trump.
Even his safe place on Immigration is hurting him in the polls.
Iran will want to hurt Trump as much as they can. What have they to lose now? They will block the straight for a while yet inflicting maximum damage on Trump for the midterms.
The interviewer isn't the best
Yes. Economist…
Werner Herzog eats his shoe.
Werner Herzog and Conan O'Brien Are You My Friend?
Oops, wrong link. That's the second time Werner was on the podcast. Here's the first one. Are you my friend?
Oh yeah as with the zek in reacher he nearly stole it from cruise
The Talk: Werner Herzog and Mike Tyson
Werner Herzog on Buster Keaton
The Talk is a series of shorts which are not interviews, the director just edits clips so that it seems like an interview.
Although Herzog did actually interview Tyson, apparently, and I can't find it.

Herzog is one of those guys that I don't actively follow, but, when he comes across my prow, I MUST listen.
Sounds like a version of civility bullshit. Keep complaining until your blue in the face for every constitutional violation, lie, and act of corruption.
