I'm not surprised. Paxton had said he wouldn't drop out if Trump endorsed Cornyn, so then how could Trump endorse Paxton? And what's the good of endorsing Cornyn? Maybe Cornyn also said he wouldn't drop out if Trump endorsed Paxton. Trump is keeping his distance.

"President Trump let a key filing deadline pass on Tuesday without endorsing a candidate in Texas’ Senate race, locking in a high-stakes Republican runoff..."
"... between the incumbent, John Cornyn, and the state’s attorney general, Ken Paxton.
Mr. Trump could still offer an endorsement at any time, but his decision not to before the deadline for candidates to formally drop out of the race means both Mr. Cornyn and Mr. Paxton will be on the next ballot even if one of them withdraws at a later date. It also means both will continue to duke it out in what has already been a highly personal, historically expensive Senate race...."

I will vote JC, but afraid KP wins.
The runoff election is Tuesday, May 26th. Trump is applying whatever leverage he can to get the SAVE act through, but the GOPe is determined to confine it to a regular vote, instead of taking it through cloture, where it could pass with a simple majority. Like the legacy media, you can't hate the uniparty enough when you see how they move.
Good. Best non-endorsement so far this year.
It doesn't bode well that a two term incumbent has to go scorched earth combat just to win his own primary election and needs two tries to do so. Republicans HAVE spoken in that between them, Hunt and Paxton a solid majority voted to replace Cornyn. Cornyn is a loser even if he wins.
Paxton’s the man. Survivor of Dem lawfare in Texas and a genuine conservative and genuine supporter of President Trump. Go team.
Runoff? What shoes are they wearing? It matters.
People don't get it - Trump is a loser when it comes to picking people. He's been lucky that his opposition was so bat-shit crazy and authoritarian. He let the R's in the Senate roll all over him in his 1st term, and he's doing it again in the 2nd term.
Now, instead of going hard against a R Senator who trashed him when he getting persecuted by Biden's DOJ, and sabotaged him in his 1st term, he's staying out. But then look at Levin and Ben Shapiro, Trump loves them. And despises Tucker and MTG. This despite Carlson and MTG being his biggest supporters and Levin/Shapiro rooting for Hillary in 2016.
I’ll vote for KP with no fear that JC will win.
Remember all those clowns he hand-picked for the Senate in his first term. The TV Doctor in Pennsyvannia and Walker in GA? I was scared to death who he was going to pick as VP, after Pence was such a disaster. It ended up OK with Vance. But I think he was on the verge of picking the black Guy from SC, a complete mediocrity.
Maybe voters are more independent than you give them credit for, proffy, and dont need to be told how to think? It's not as if everything is hanging on Trump's endorsement.
Tenure, and living with a non thinking fan boy, has done a real number on your head. Lol.
@DeepStateReformer: Cornyn isn't a two term incumbent, but a four -term one. That is a big reason he is so unpopular. He should have retired. I'm a Texan and could change my mind. I voted for JC the first time, but he is so Washington that I wonder if a flawed KP wouldn't make a better senator.
Is there anyone in TX here who will vote for KP, yet admit his infidelity to his wife bothers them a little?
I wonder how someone can say they are a Conservative if they don't have any discomfort about his marriage infidelity.
As a 21 year old Conservative D in1992, Slick Willie's ascendance was a driver in my moving away from the D's
PJ, did you happen to vote for Tony Gonzales?
RCO muttered: “People don't get it - Trump is a loser when it comes to picking people”
His second term cabinet choices, with a few exceptions, are top shelf. Not perfect, but overall excellent.
Cornyn is denying all of his previously held democrat leaning positions. He’s a worm. His use by date is in the rear view mirror.
If no one is dropping out, why chance betting on the wrong horse?
Leland - FO - I don't live in that hell hole.
Paxton is an imperfect candidate, to be sure. But I can also see that his effectiveness, his willingness to fight, has made him a high-priority target - for Democrats. In Texas, that means they'll sue, and sue again, and sue some more, try anything to lay charges, not because they're meaningful, but because it will tie the victim up, having to respond to them - instead of continuing their mission.
The thing about infidelity, sure it's concerning. I also notice how it's being framed. Of course, Democrats would never cheat on their spouses.
What criticisms are aimed at Cronyn? Which ones are from Democrats? Seems to me they're all coming from Republican voters. Hmm.
PJ,
I don't live in Texas, but if I did I would definitely vote for Paxton in this election. Yes, his infidelity bothers me, and if there were another equally conservative - - genuine conservative mind you - -candidate without that personal flaw,
they would be my choice over Paxton.
But of course there is no such choice on offer, and when choosing a political candidate the political awfulness of died in the wool RINO Cornyn bothers me a lot more than Paxton's personal issues.
I am reminded about Lincoln's quote regarding Grant. I can't spare Paxton, he fights [for me, instead of against me].
Others get it PJ, but thanks for exposing yourself. If any part of Texas is a hell hole to you, then stay the fuck out of our elections.
I live in Texas. The race is between a swamp dwelling, fake Trump supporter, and true conservative who is also a crook. If I were Trump, I would endorse neither, too.
