What a fucking dick. I hope Charlie’s widow sues him for copyright violation. But Glenn is such a coward that he lives in Brazil.

At least 30k Iranians have been killed since June. Prices have gone through the roof.

The facts have changed. The people will rise up.

Reanimates?
Choose your words wisely, now.

Are you implying Greennwald has doctored this? (I don't click your links for protection. Don't trust you know what you're serving, as sometimes you don't even bother to read carefully what you're linking us to...)

Did he just rerun, untouched, a clip from when Charlie was alive, or did he really reanimate this?

Be honest in your war coverage, ma'am.

I can't say I disagree: Any war pushed by Lindsey Graham is pathologically insane. But, that's not the war, that's Lindsey Graham.

Greenwald hates Israel.

Externally forced regime change worked in Italy & Germany, but has not worked in Libya, Iraq & Afghanistan. Mixed results in Latin America. I'm kinda with Charlie on this: neuter their nukes, but then let these assholes sort it out among themselves. Or meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Dave,
If the people will rise up (where have we heard that before???), it's pretty fucking stupid for the US to be fighting to make the world safe for Israel... again.

The generational division on this is huge.
At least we can see that you've broken with the Pope, the Church and even your beloved Jesuits in putting your worship of weapons before Christ's teachings... and the Geneva Convention, just war doctrine, etc.

Burn in hell, Begley, and soon....

The people have risen up, and they've been slaughtered. Have you seen these pathetic revolutionaries throwing rocks at the military? Unlike the good ole USA, Iran has no second amendment.

Younger generations of Iranians HATE their authoritarian Islamic supremacist rulers.

Bob: One battle doesn’t define a war. And don’t you think the US and Israel have smuggled weapons into Iran?

The first victories will come in the smaller cities and those will snowball into Tehran.

Glenn has to be beside himself today.
And Tucker.
And Candace.
And Dave Smith.
And so many others.

This will not be quick, nor easy. But at the end, when the Persian people are a free, productive, creative nation, and there is- get this- actual peace among the majority of nations in the Middle East, I look forward to their scrambling to find a new topic of attack to glom onto.

Imagine the disgust by some if the largest purveyor, funder, supplier of materiel to terrorism in the Middle East and the world, is suddenly the center of peace talks with it's neighbors.

What would the Middle East actually look like if Iran were not the poison in the well? If Lebanon could get to be Lebanon again, and not a captured nation of Hezbollah/Iran?

If Gaza was free of Hamas?

I’d like this Kalshi bet: How many days until (Schumer, Jefferies, or Harris) denounces Trump’s attack on Iran.

Leftists love to pee and moan about 'evil Christian Theocracy' - here. The left's imaginary boogieman . (of course we all know the left demand we worship their vile old tired corrupt ideology)
LEFTISTS REMAIN SILENT on the abuse women face in these male dominated Islamic theocratic terror-states.

It's funny how many people hate trial attorneys claiming they're all liars when the rules of professional conduct forbid personal expressions of opinion as to truth or falsity and everyone knows their job is to advocate on behalf of their client.

Their is a huge gulf between the "people will rise up", and the ensuing chaos resulting in a more stable or less hostile environment, especially since Trump has claimed we no longer do nation building. That promise seems to have been flushed since we are meddling in Venezuela, maybe Cuba, and now Iran.

The attack on Iran is an existential threat to the Democrat Party.

Greenwald is a national treasure. A liberal/leftist with principles - almost unheard of. As Greenwald points out, AIPAC and Israel have been demanding we attack Iran for 20 years. They must not have missiles what reach Israel. So we have to bomb Iran and spend $50 billion.

None of this has to do with our USA national interests. Right now, we're just Israel's bitch. Their attack dog. They say attack, and we say "Yes massa".

Dave Begley said...

FF,
The Crown Prince of Iran has offered to step in as interim leader. In the protests this year, the Iranian people have shouted, “Long live the King.”

Having a leader makes a HUGE difference.

Hopefully, it will be today. And that is as it should be. Where does the constitution give the president the right to declare war? If this is not a war, what is it?

Our history of advocating regime change has had a pretty shitty record of success. The last country we actually declared war on was Hungary towards the end of WWII.

RCOCEAN:

The 30k Iranians who were killed by the IRGC were not paid agents of Israel. That I can tell you.

Oh yeah, his father was so popular! He also took power in a coup engineered by the U.S.

Cuba is another prime example of communist theft and communism itself - total destruction of real lives. The lives of simple people. & Again US leftists DO NOT CARE.

As oldcountrylawyer rightly pointed out, Iran has been at war with us since 1979. “The Constitution is not a suicide pact.”

Iran is a very young country. My DIL has no memory of him. She only knows the brutality and economic destruction of the Supreme Leader and the IRGC.

Seems like Trump's primary goal is to destroy Iran's ability to threaten their neighbors and to be an international player militarily regardless of who winds up charge.
In the process an opportunity will be created for the people to be rid of the mullahs and to create a new government, but the implication of Trump's announcement earlier is that it will be up to them. Whether they can come together to do that or not, who knows?
It doesn't sound like we are going to invade and nation-build. Maybe we are involved covertly to support one faction or another. Probably we are.
If it devolves into a civil war, I guess the UN or the international community can send in peace keepers or something.
The current regime has been becoming more and more desperate and therefore dangerous. I guess the calculus is that it's better to have a localized chaotic mess than an international one so let's remove their ability to lash out militarily.
The model for Trump's Iran policy is clearly drawn from the classic children's Christmas show Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Herbie the Elf pulled the teeth of the Abominable Snow Monster of the North who, after the brutal, but necessary procedure, became a peaceful and productive member of the Christmas Town Special Economic Zone.

Or the Wizard of Oz, in which the flying monkey guards look at the melted witch and say "she's dead...all hail Dorothy."

And this fact makes installing his son as Shah more or less desirable? What it looks like is that Trump is not going to war for Israel, but Russia. Because if anyone is going to benefit from Trump's willingness to topple regimes and not follow up with some kind of nation building, it will be Russia. Both Gaza and Venezuela demonstrate that when it comes to "well we broke it, what do we do now", Trump doesn't have a clue.

Charlie may have been right, but think of a world without Iran-funded terrorists. Also, unintended consequences are not necessarily unforeseen consequences. How clever of the Democrats to defund DHS while this was in the offing.

Charlie Kirk is as dead as Ayatollah Khameni. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da life goes on.

Lloyd W. Robertson said...

I've got Lindsay Graham right here to rebut Charlie, and show that you are weak as well as full of shit for pulling a stunt like this. Oh yeah? I've got Ann Coulter, and Charles Lindbergh. Maybe Eisenhower. I've got George Washington, for Christ's sake! Oh yeat? I've got Bush Jr. and Truman. Very elderly people being wheeled in and out, the sickest on gurneys, corpses being forced into a sitting position in their caskets. This evening: a debate on war and peace, and some specific foreign policy issues.

There's a whiff of 2003 and all the talk about how everything would be swell once Saddam was gone. Maybe there's a trace of 1979 in the air as well and all Iranian students thinking that overthrowing the shah would give them a secular and liberal republic. Things don't always work out for the best.

These people, including Kirk, don't know any more about this than me, and that's pretty worthless. For now I trust our current leadership and military to do what's needed and avoid what's not. They know 99.9% more than I do. Is that enough to get it right? We will see, but everybody should avoid pretending they know things they can't possibly know. No situation is directly analogous to another one from the past.

Maddow: Trump started this war to win the midterms and boost his own “disastrous” poll numbers.

Just like VZ is still ruled by shitheads, but now they’re scared shitheads, Trump will settle for Iran ruled by IRGC colonels, lower ranking mullahs, and/or a council of revolutionary secular comandantes, as long as they are scared. That’s what he wanted to do in AFG. That’s why he said this is the Iranian people only chance to overthrow the regime. Because he ain’t gonna help them. CC, JSM

Bob Boyd said...

I think he will help them to one degree or another, but he ain't gonna do it for them.
I think he will help whatever faction he would like to see in power that he thinks could hold power once they get it, but he can't afford for that party to be seen as having been installed by America.
I'm guessing the help he gives them will be largely covert. No small part of it will consist of using propaganda tools to promote his preferred choice. The Iranian people have to believe it was their preference too...which it will be.
It's a risky business no matter what. A lot could go wrong.
