Reiner's son Nick has been arrested for the murders. Assuming Nick Reiner is indeed the murderer, he was certainly angry at his father, but it's absurd to think that the son's anger toward the father is about the father's recent political expression.
Virtually everyone else has responded to the news of the murder with praise for Reiner's work as an actor and director and has chosen to leave politics for another day. Trump went to the complete opposite extreme, speaking not just about his political opposition to the man but blaming Reiner for his own death and making it all about Trump and larding his statement with self-praise — surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness! — to the point where many readers will wonder whether this is satire.
I mean, is it possible that Trump believes he is doing satire in honor of a great satirist?
I was just listening to Reiner on Bill Maher's podcast, and he was saying that when "This Is Spinal Tap" came out 41 years ago, many people did not get it. They thought it was a real documentary. Reiner says: "Some rockers — some rock and roll people — took it seriously and they got mad.... Like Steven Tyler was upset... and then that Axl Rose from Guns 'n' Roses... and, and you know, God bless him.... Ozzy Osbourne didn't love it...."But even if Trump believes it's funny, and even if Reiner had the same sense of humor, Trump, the President of the United States, should not be emitting insane trash like that.

What comes after Trump is going to make you wish you had Trump back.
The important issue here is politics. Trump’s base is solid, but it doesn’t get him or Republicans elected. Many other people hold their noses and vote for him because Democrats are incompetent scumbags. It is not good politics for Trump to give them cause for second thoughts by indulging his petty side.
