Having seen the vitriol get progressively worse over the last couple of decades, this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
I don't like Fetterman or the fact he's a major linchpin for the Democrats, but yes. The modern Democrats are totally insane, and their various fixations threaten to destroy them at the exact moment their multiethnic coalition threatens to break apart under immense geopolitical strains. I wouldn't be surlrised to see Fetterman switch registration in a future election.

Even the military subreddit is filled with hate. It seems harsh for a military forum, but for reddit it's a bit tame. I didn't see any comments mentioning their safety, just speculation that Project 2025 is real and this is part of it. (It didn't make any sense to me.)
This is what comes from the "college-educated" Party. Amazingly enough, in my community, they also proudly proclaim themselves in yard signs as the Party of "Love, Not Hate." As others here have said, this is no surprise to anyone in a Blue State or city. And it's only getting worse.
Fetterman has succumbed to battered wife syndrome. His party members beat him unmercifully, but he hangs in there with them. Sad.
