The best part of this is how much James Austin Johnson looks like old Bob Dylan.
It's interesting that a woman plays Chalamet. That might have some verisimilitude, except that it made Chalamet much shorter than Dylan. In real life, Bob is 5'7" and Timothée is 5'10".
ADDED: Uproxx has an interview with James Austin Johnson about his Dylan imitation and links to this 2022 appearance on the Tonight Show where he sang "Jingle Bells" in Dylan voices from difference eras of Dylan:

Pathetically unfunny.
I made it a minute. I'll put this into the category of 'if I've nothing good to say, say nothing.'
I like that global warming is becoming a punch line. The Earth is healing.
I’m attending Jay Ungar and Molly Mason’s New Year’s Eve dinner and dance. Talk about walking into the heart of Dylan worship! Jay and Molly did the music on Ken Burn’s white guilt opus magnum, “The Civil War.” Their folkie ranch is, of course, subsumed in TDS. I’ll be careful not to mention Trump.
At his age, I'll bet Dylan has lost an inch of height at least.
He's a good actor, but seeing that Althouse needs to type an accent in order to write about him makes me roll my eyes.
It’s only snl
And they’re all tokin’
Hollyweird is broken
I expected to hate it, but thought it was pretty funny. Wonka was probably the very worst movie I have ever sat through all the way. I had to stay or be very rude... It was a foul travesty.
Sketch comedy is hands down the most difficult form of entertainment to do well. Look at the old classic Saturday night lives more than half their sketches were duds. Same thing with key and Peele. Dave Chappelle was the best and about a third of his sketches were not very funny. Harry and Paul are almost as good as Chappelle.
Shouting Thomas, you would appreciate this. My in-laws ran a classic wooden boat repair business on the Alameda estuary in Oakland. About once a month they held house concerts and their boathouse. In the early 90s they managed to meet a destitute homeless rambling Jack Elliott who was living with his much younger soon to be dead alcoholic girlfriend in a sketchy motorhome. They had Jack come in place several house concerts for an audience of approximately 100 people paying 50 bucks a piece and they gave the whole gate to Jack. I got a chance to talk to him he claims that he used to babysit our little Guthrie and that he was instrumental in kickstarting Bob Dylan's career but never got at. Jack's rendition of the classic hit by the Kingston trio "South Coast" was sublime. I don't care for Americana music but that was incredible.
The guy on the right looks a lot like Trey Gowdy!! haha!!
Bono looks like Ringo.
Yes i'm rooting for Pam Anderson too. The lady certainly lead an interesting life. Per Wikipedia: Anderson suffered sexual abuse as a child, a fact she revealed publicly in 2014. She said she was molested by a female babysitter from ages 6 to 10, raped by a 25-year-old man when she was age 12, and gang-raped by her boyfriend and six of his friends when she was 14.
At first I thought Pam Anderson had starred in WKRP in Cinnannati, but that was Loni Anderson. LOL.
SNL - do the producers use AI to write the "Jokes"? The Guy doing a 35 y/o Dylan was good.
when does the funny part come?
Trump has lost almost 2 inches. I think he’s still 6 foot. Clinton looks under 6 foot nowadays. Dylan looks about 5’6 in his 80s.. Clint Eastwood might not even be 5’1 now. And he was almost 6’4 when younger. The taller you are the more you shrink. The older you get the more you shrink
5’11 for Clint (not 5’1)
"..it made Chalamet much shorter than Dylan."
That hit me as odd, too. I wonder why they didn't consider getting some platform shoes for the performer so it wouldn't so odd? (Unless they were intentionally trying to make the character child-like.)
Chloe Fineman, who is 5'3", has been doing that overactive-puppy impression of Timothée Chalamet for years. As an "SNL" viewer, I recognized it right away (even though I'm not sure I've ever seen the actual Chalamet in a movie).
That could only have been saved if Joe Biden came on in a Marge Simpson wig.
James Austin Johnson has a role in the movie.
The "added" Dylan impressions were very good.
That SNL thing made me feel really old and out of it. Were those jokes?
Absolutely horrible snl
