The vice president explains it all. It's as clear as a bell. Well, not exactly a bell.

I love the statement from Eagles' guitarist, Joe Walsh, “When AI knows how to destroy a hotel room, I’ll pay attention to it.”

I've substituted skill at computation for skill at physics and math since the 60s.

AI would have made my job easier, but it wouldn't have "done" it, but maybe what it could have done is let me do the jobs of several people with the extra time, and I guess that's the exact same thing as AI "doing people's jobs."

I had a chat with AI. As of September 2021, 42 was not the answer. However, new information since then may have changed our understanding of the universe so much that it is theoretically conceivable that 42 in the answer right now. Doug Adams 1, ChatGPT 0, amirite?

User
Is 42 the answer?

ChatGPT
In the context of Douglas Adams' science fiction series "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," the number 42 is humorously presented as the "Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything." However, in reality, 42 is just a fictional and whimsical answer with no inherent meaning or significance. It was chosen by Adams as a joke and has since become a popular cultural reference. So, if you're asking about the answer to a specific question, 42 is unlikely to be a meaningful or accurate response.

User
Are you sure
ChatGPT
Yes, I can assure you that in the context of the real world and scientific understanding, the number 42 does not hold any special or inherent significance as the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. It is purely a fictional concept created by Douglas Adams for comedic purposes in his book series. In reality, the answer to such a profound question is not known, and it continues to be a subject of philosophical, scientific, and religious inquiry.

User
But have you considered everything?
ChatGPT
As an AI language model, I have been trained on a vast amount of information up until September 2021. While I strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information, it's important to note that new discoveries and developments can occur beyond my training cutoff. If there is a specific topic or aspect you would like to discuss or explore further, please let me know, and I'll do my best to assist you.

User
So there might be a new discovery and then 42 would be the answer
ChatGPT
It's always possible that new discoveries or insights could emerge in the future that could change our understanding of the universe. Science is an ongoing process of exploration and discovery, and our knowledge continually evolves. Therefore, it is theoretically conceivable that some future revelation could somehow connect the number 42 to the ultimate answer about life, the universe, and everything. However, as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, there is no scientific or empirical basis to suggest that 42 has any profound or inherent meaning beyond its fictional association in "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."
