You are taunting me with these pix because I don't have an i14 which catches glistering water though I won one on this blog or would have if you and someone else would have agreed to be judges about whatever that offer was quickly enough to catch Mr. Slither Away. Never mind. I wouldn't get out of bed in time for the sunrise anyway. Though I do have pix of copper-colored water - Lake Michigan at dawn. Ah, but I was so much younger then, I'm older than that now.
So, imagine that you are a Magistrate, of whatever stripe, and you are considering the hard facts of your profession. Your job is to decide how the legal system will deal with certain persons who insist upon outraging their fellow citizens. And by "outraging", I don't mean, "causing outrage to by publishing their opinions on Twitter". I mean, raping, robbing, assaulting, maiming, murdering. Etc.
Suppose that when these miscreants are dragged in front of you, escorted by officers, you arrange for them to be locked away from society for a good long while. Decades.
It seems like that might clear the whole thing up, in short order. Lock 'em up. Throw away the key. Problem solved.
“I have made a decision,” [Mike] Pompeo told Fox News host Bret Baier. “I was on your show a number of months back and you asked what I was going to do in 2024. Susan and I now have been thinking about it and prayerfully have come to the conclusion that we’re not going to join the race in 2024.”
“I think Americans are thirsting for people making arguments, not just tweets,” said Pompeo [prayerfully invoking double talk] when asked if he thinks anyone can beat Trump, who currently leads in polling.
Trump's former SecState spent money and endured pain getting a bariatric operation to take off weight, did a country-wide book tour to promote his ghostwritten book, and visited key election states, but got no support for a presidential run. So he ends by blaming God and issuing a "Maybe next time." Hopefully, he sold enough books that will allow him to keep his book advance.
I challenge Ann to a duel. Her Lake Mendota sunrises versus my Gulf Coast Sunsets. Ann's game is very strong, and her camera is superior, but I think I can take her.
Glenn Greenwald is my new hero. He reports: The WaPoo and the NY Times publish top secret leaks all the time. Where do they come from? Why the CIA and the FBI are the sources. No investigation, no uproar on these leaks. Why you ask? They are leaks authorized by these intell agencies. The leaks are propaganda (read: lies) to dupe the public. The recent leaks* by the 21 yo airman were the unvarnished truth. Ouch.
Back in the late 80's, my now deceased father-in-law flatly stated he would never vote for George H. W. Bush for president. Why? He previously led the CIA. A wise man.
* It appears the Ukraine war is not going swimmingly as has been reported.
As a follow on to my earlier comment, from Matt Taibbi: "When civilians or whistleblowers like Edward Snowden, Julian Assange (in jail for an incredible four years now), Reality Winner and now the “Discord Leaker” bring leaked information to the public, the immediate threat is Espionage Act charges and decades of jail time. When a CIA head or a top FBI official does it, it’s just news. In fact, officials talk openly about using “strategic leaks” as a P.R. staple."
"Vindman was pressed about the details and asked who he spoke with regarding the phone call. Vindman said he talked with two individuals who were not in the White House. Vindman was asked to provide the names of the people he had spoken with but was cut off by then-Democratic Chair Adam Schiff.
“We need to protect the whistleblower. Please stop. I want to make sure that there is no effort to out the whistleblower through these proceedings. If the witness has a good faith belief that this may reveal the identity of the whistleblower, that is not the purpose that we’re here for. I want to advise the witness accordingly.”"
God forbid that students are polite!! They should be violent, and hateful!!!
""She notes with frustration that “they were polite” and “they held their voices low and spoke slowly and calmly. They had relaxed, open smiles.”Nam takes offense not just to their civility and politeness but also to the fact that they were allowed to speak at all on campus: “Their smug civility was infuriating; their invitations for debate, inflammatory. I could barely seethe out my opinion about the misogyny of holding such a debate at all…
The discussion never should have been entertained, because simply opening space for this ‘logical, respectful’ debate itself is a threat to human rights that should never be up for debate…"
Some arguments aren’t worth engaging with, and quite frankly are dangerous for even existing.”
Gadfly. Have you ever considered that you'd have a much happier life if you quit comparing your attitude in life against the un-happiness of other people? You seem to get enjoyment in pointing out the flaws of other people.

Great timing on that last shot/photo.
What great photos. Sometimes when I look at nature, I wish I could chuck my computer out the window and just relax and look at the sunrise.
But then, I know I'd be bored, and and go get my computer.
