I'm pretty depressed Jon Stewart got the veterans toxic burn pit boondoggle passed. I get pretty tired of those goldbrickers sandbagging for free stuff. Thank G_d for real hero's like Josh Hawley fighting against injured crybaby vets who are faking cancer to make money from hard working honest people who just want to be free to enjoy engorgement on super sized happy meals.

The sky never ceases to amaze me. Flat bottomed clouds.
Cool thing to share: my oldest met her dad(we’re divorced)for a hike on Cannon Mountain (NH)where The Old Man used to be. They met at 3am and hiked up to meet the sunrise! She shared pictures and so I got to see the sunrise in 2places- NH &WI. We still live in the best country in the world!

The night sky tonight has lingering light. Quite a muggy, overcast day. Warm. Not as hot as yesterday. It’s corn weather. If we listen, we can hear it grow.

i Like the afternoon shot, good leading lines out to the clouds

Fun Fact: Microsoft named their Cloud Computing stuff.. Azure; as in: Clear as an Azure sky.
Think about that.. Go on! Think about THAT!

Zawahiri must have spoken his mind at a school board meeting and that was the last straw.

Liz Cheney throws one last "Dick Cheney"-Hail Mary in the hopes of landing that coveted post-congressional "career" Haliburton Board Seat and MSNBC speaking slot (Sorry Kinzinger, Liz was there firstest with the mostest)

Good Luck Liz!! Gadfly is rooting for you!

Returning to the US from Europe in November of '19, I took an airline apple out of the plane with me, realized what I had done and told the agent. That earned my wife and me some attention--very professional, even amiable--from customs and we found ourselves in a small group of miscreants taken to a different area.

Explained what I had done, they said don't do it again, and off we went. None of the other folks with us looked like trouble either--just jet-lagged, forgetful, too young or too old.

At the other extreme, in 1975 IIRC two friends and I drove up through VA-DC-MD-PA-NJ-NY and Quebec to Quebec City. Stayed with friends, or relatives of one of us, or just slept in or around the car in a park somewhere.

On the way back along the westerly route--Toronto-Detroit and then south, we came to the US in Detroit about 2am. Three hairy, smelly, grungy college students who, in a movie, would have some contraband stashed among all the trash and dirty clothes and coolers and junk food.

They kept us standing around as they went through everything, probing, shaking, opening random closed containers and sniffing. It only took about 2 hours IIRC. We didn't count that in our QC to Memphis driving time of 33 hours nonstop.

They must have thought we were simpletons.

I hear pundits predicting that China won't move on Taiwan for another 2-5 years. I say it will be before the end of August. They've learned lessons from our withdrawal from Afghanistan, and from the Russian adventure into Ukraine. They know they have 2.5 years left of this completely incompetent and compromised Biden/Harris/Pelosi administration. The only variable that China is considering at this point is whether they can complete the mission in 2.5 years or less, and the clock is ticking.

As ridiculous as this sounds, a couple of "mean tweets" to Putin and Xi a year or more ago could literally have changed the course of global civilization. Suck on that, Biden votes.

So, some radio guy I've never heard apparently is being ordered to pay millions of dollars for saying something that others did not like.

I worry a little. You are taking so many (and so very beautiful) pics of the lake, there won’t be anything left of it. Just a grey blur of discarded pixels!

Rebel is right. China knows their opportunity window will be closing soon.

On a related front, does anyone else feel that Nancy it trying awfully hard to look Presidential on this trip? Lots of foreign photo ops, etc.

Bribe Kamala and push Joe out and she is last D standing. President Pelosi for two years?

You should be. The left added 400 million for a slush fund for themselves that won't go to anything to help Veterans, but will help them get richer off of your back. Congratulations on applauding corruption.

Not to worry, Owen.

"Sinema caved. We’re fucked." Since you fantasize about Biden failing when you beat off, I assume you think the legislation will help Americans. You're fucked Dave.

Why fantasize when the abject failure you selected augers in in real time. What I find particularly hilarious is that you went to the polls and said to yourself." Yep. This is the guy this country needs right now!" Without any criticism or introspection you pulled the lever on the country's professional political fuck up and you thought things would improve. You know what that makes you? Other than the obvious? The owner of all that has ensued. Loser.

jim5301: "Since you fantasize about Biden failing....."

Oh, we have to "fantasize about Biden failing" because, I guess, there's no real "failing" on the part of Biden going on!!

I'm sorry to have to report that no, I don't think jim5301 is having us on here. I think he/she/xe is actually quite serious and see's the condition of the nation as rather stellar with no real failures anywhere to be seen.

Failures that have to be "fantasized" into existence!

Too funny. Seriously jimmy, one of your best moronic efforts yet, which is sayin' somethin'.
