When Trump gives an order, is it is up to a govt employee to actually release the info? Seems a lot of disloyalty the past week. People afraid of retribution by dems, or true believers.

Trump to declassify

I saw a suggestion that Pelosi freaking out was to prevent Trump for having the power to declassify.

Here's the thing, if there is really something so juicy in the classified documents that would nail the DNC to fabricating Russian collusion to disrupt Trump; then I think Trump would have gotten it out long ago. That said, when people ask what Trump should do on the 19th of January; I'd say write a memo saying he declassified various documents and then pack them in his bags. It won't be against the law, because he has the right to declassify as President. And once he has them outside the White House; he could use them as protection from prosecution. Again, that only works if they truly are the evidence people think they are.

I fear Biden will be a worse president than Trump, and have bet my friends that in 2 years they will long for the good times of the trump years, but it will be a great relief to not have him front and center in the culture anymore.

I was surprised that he and his partner went to Baltimore and then took the train to DC for the Rally. He said it was massive. Folks standing around singing patriotic songs like "God bless America" while they waited for Trump.

The crowd was not angry and did not march in anger towards the capitol.

It didn't get weird until they arrived at the capitol. He said they left when they heard broken glass - window shattering.

I asked him if he thought there were fake maga - he said YES... definitely at the Capitol. He said that the bullhorns, masks, and shields were really out of left field.

They left shortly after they heard the broken glass... and then at some point the police came in with tear gas?

Well, this is just great. I just noticed on Nextdoor this post from this morning from someone a couple of streets over in my neighborhood here in TN, where I am this week:

That's probably the first one seen in this area in well over 100 years, maybe longer. They have been getting closer, mainly up along the TN/KY border and a couple in SW VA. Now one is here. Maybe he is just passing through but there are so many deer in our neighborhood it probably looks to him like a buffet. This is going to get interesting.

One thing they can't stop Trump from doing is pardoning people. Unlike declassification and other last minute actions, pardoning can't be overturned or thwarted. Just remember what Bill Clinton got away with in his final days - Marc Rich, etc.

Trump should pardon every non-violent federal prisoner en masse. Name the various federal crimes, and state that everyone in prison for that crime is now free. Only the dangerous ones stay in. Use the language of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Assange and Snowden are obvious pardons.

Trump should then pardon Bill and Hillary Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, and name some of their alleged and actual crimes. Throw in a few conspiracy theories, like the Clinton death list and the Mena Airport drug deliveries. Pardon Obama for lying about his country of origin, and forging his birth certificate. Trump can throw in an "allegedly" or even a "hypothetically."

Pardon Bush for the Iraqi war dead. Pardon Hillary for the emails and secret server, and the consequences of the Libya invasion. Pardon Obama for espionage and the Russia collusion conspiracy. Pardon Page and Strzok, but don't say for what. Explicitly rule out pardons for Clapper, Brennan, Comey, Mueller, etc., but don't say for what.

Pardon Joe Biden and his entire family for every known item of domestic and foreign corruption, and every non-crime example of poor character (plagiarism, for example). Pardon Jill Biden for impersonating a doctor. Pardon every member of Biden's cabinet for named and unnamed crimes.

Pardon every donor to the Clinton Foundation. Pardon everyone who was involved with Epstein, including Prince Andrew (and Bill again, of course). Choose a random sampling of Hollywood celebrities and pardon them for sex trafficking.

Re-pardon everyone already pardoned by Clinton, Bush Jr., and Obama, just to remind everyone of who they pardoned.

Pardon JFK and RFK posthoumusly for various crimes, like spying on MLK and murdering Marilyn. Pardon the CIA for murdering JFK, and for distributing drugs in the inner cities. Accuracy is not the point.

Pardon whoever ran "Q" without naming them. Pardon Andrew Cuomo for murdering seniors. Pardon every politician who received money from the Chinese, and throw in pardons for LeBron and the NBA. Pardon every American who wears clothes or shoes made in a Chinese sweatshop.

Pardon every Senator and Representative in Congress who used the secret slush fund for sexual harrassment accusations, and itemize each politician and accusation by name.

Etc. You get my point. Have some fun, and push the pillars down.

Who killed the unarmed Ashli Babbitt?

1/14/21, 6:05 PM

The shooting may have been murder. The officer whose name was withheld contrary to DC law appears to have been a black, Brazilian immigrant named David Bailey who reportedly threatened to kill Trump supporters for months on Facebook. Apparently he got his wish if that truly was his boasted desire. Odd that we aren’t hearing about this 24/7 by the media. But then the victim was only a former member of the US Military and not a cherished criminal like George Floyd who appears to have died of a drug overdose.

Found in comments over a Turleys blog (from a source close to the investigation)

If the DC police followed their own laws, the rest of us wouldn't be forced to run of unsubstantiated facts.

As I predicted, the silence is caused by all the facts failing to support the narrative.

Catherine Heritage is reporting the FBI confirms a few of those inside the capitol, were using small group tactics. things learned in the military and police. All points to advance planning. Not an incited crowed of crazed Trump supporters (with over a million supporters attending his rallies, strange that crazed ones showed up the 6th)

No doubt but, really, too late. Look, despite the baying of partisans, no US President will ever be prosecuted for anything. Not Trump, not Obama, not Bush, not pedo Clinton, not Nixon. Indeed, Ford’s pardon of Nixon wasn’t to protect him from prosecution, it was to cut off the expectation that he even could be prosecuted.

It’s the most exclusive club in the world and once you join it you become privy to secrets that make you invulnerable to criminal prosecution.

Obama and Trump have more in common with each other than they do with anyone else in America. Biden I’m not so sure about. Given his senility, I imagine it’s already been agreed that sensitive information will bypass him and be held by his handlers.

Czar Nicholas II was truly a pious man. I believe there's a move underfoot to canonize him. Of course, the path to piety is downhill and scented with lilacs when you're an anointed king. I'm sure I'd have a different relationship with God if I were surrounded by people who believed that I was God's representative on earth and that they had a religious duty to honor and obey me. Still, he said his prayers daily and earnestly and truly believed that he was following God's commandments. There's a rumor that he said "forgive them for they know not what"....bang, finis.....I don't believe this, but there was one Romanov who definitely said this before execution....I'm reading the Massie book, "Nicholas and Alexandra". It's far better written than the Radzinsky book, "The Last Tsar", which covers some of the same time period, but Radzinksy gives more of a background of the people who actually engineered and executed the killings.....The thought occurred to me that Yurovsky, the man who first pulled the trigger on Czar Nicholas, was more of a religious man than the Czar. I'm defining religious broadly as someone who believes in a higher power and has faith in the beneficence of that power. He was a professional revolutionary who made many sacrifices for the revolution. After the execution, he had to make his way back from Siberia with pounds of precious jewels. He travelled alone, dressed as a poor discharged soldier. I don't think he palmed any of the jewels. He did his duty and then some. Later on. he was awarded with several high government posts. He died fairly young of a painful ulcerative disease. He was like Kierkegaard's Knight of Faith who doesn't think twice about sacrificing his cherished son on the altar of God. Literally. Yurovsky's daughter was arrested and sent to the Gulag. His faith in the revolution never wavered. Yurovsky wrote a memo for the NKVD files that detailed how he killed the Czar. He wanted the judgment of history to give him credit for this deed....The judgment of history. That's a term you hear a lot of lately. I guess nobody really believes in Judgement Day anymore. We have to settle for the judgment of history. The people who believe most fervently in the judgment of history are the ones most likely to be wrong.

Yurovsky never repented. He was quite proud of what he did. He wrote that memo years after the fact because he was afraid someone else would take credit for the killing. He also donated the pistol he used.....He was a more moral person than the other executioners. Some of them tried to loot the corpses, but he stopped them. It's all very well to kill a sick child and some young women, but looting their bodies is a crime. That property belongs to the revolution. I'm sure he gave an honest account of all the confiscated jewels to the appropriate committee when he got back to Moscow. He was a true believer. So was the Czar. Different faiths, though.

The Chariot race is Very Exciting though, Much better than the movie

I am not a big fan of the Czar, but I am not a big fan of anybody.
Pius X was a great saint but he sinned greatly when he scorned the Jews and others.
MacArthur was a WWI hero but later had sex with an underage teenager.
Hemingway betrayed almost all his friends.
Solzhenitsyn (who was not a WWI soldier, I am moving forward in time)was an evil follower of Stalin until he (Solzhenitsyn) was introduced to Stalin's prison camps. Before that , he lacked empathy for the victims of Communism.

I could go on and on.
Almost none of us, me writing this, or you reading this, have not done things we should be ashamed of.

The murderer of the Czar was nothing more than a murderer, though, and that is an awful thing to be. He did not have religion, he did not have ideals, he was just a sick evil man who liked to kill.

Feel free to disagree, but you would be wrong to do so.

Ponder Rasputin. He really did believe in God and his ministrations to the Czar's family helped to reinforce their faith. When they died they were wearing his icon around their necks. Czaress Alexandra considered him a holy martyr....Rasputin sinned mightily but he always repented publicly for his sins.. It was part of his act. He did, however, sin less than he bragged about. According to Radzinsky, the secret police kept close tabs on him. He slept with women of the demimonde and not with the high born aristocrats whom he sometimes socialized and who he let on were his lovers....His ministrations to the young Alexei brought comfort in the family circle but his debauched behavior elsewhere brought the family into disrepute. Rasputin was a significant contributory factor in the fall of the Romanovs....I put it to you: Can someone like Rasputin lead you to salvation? God's got his work cut out for Him on Judgement Day. If I were God, I'd give Alexandra a pass but come down hard on Rasputin, but, of course, I'm not God.

I have friends whose child suffers from Aspergers.

The poor creature (born in 1911 but still in elementary school) struggles with empathy, but his parents love him.

TO LOVE ANOTHER CREATURE IS TO UNDERSTAND THE REASON GOD CREATED THAT CREATURE.

Rasputin was not a good man, but God knows our hearts.
We should not be offended in the presence of failed human beings, we should be inspired to pray for them, and to thank God for any blessings we have in our own lives.

Rasputin, had he spent a couple hours talking to a good man, would have repented.

THE SHORTAGE OF GOOD PEOPLE IS THE PROBLEM much more than the EXISTENCE OF PEOPLE LIKE RASPUTIN. I mean, there are two ways of looking at it, but seriously -----

who do you think you would be if you had parents like the people who were Rasputin's parents???? Trust me, you would probably not be the kind loveable fun-loving person you consider yourself to be. SO TELL ME THIS, WHY DID YOU, BEFORE YOU WERE BORN, TELL GOD YOU WERE UNWILLING TO BE BORN IF YOU HAD TO BE BORN IN A WORLD WHERE RASPUTIN'S PARENTS WERE YOUR PARENTS????

Is that enough to explain?

The feeling of righteousness and acting not for the self alone trumps other ethical considerations. The various holy wars were fought by righteous men who underwent considerable hardship and self sacrifice in order to kill their enemies and their children. God's will has been updated in recent times to the will of the people, but the principle of right plus might leads to many unholy holy massacres.....The terror bombing of Japanese and German cities did not shorten the war.( Well, with the exception of the A-bomb. That ended the war.) But all those other bomb runs killed thousands and accomplished nothing. For the most part, those men who participated in the bomb runs, unlike Arnold's father, didn't drink a lot and beat their children. They were proud of their service......Beware the righteous. It's been just over 10 years since Sowell published Intellectuals and Society, and he's been proving its thesis ever since. Sowell is undoubtedly a major public intellectual, and he has provided a large corpus of critiques of the left-wing position on race. But his phoned-in defenses for standard right-wing positions are so tired and tedious.

When does Sowell suppose this "age of indoctrination" began? Has there been a civilization in world history that did not rely upon indoctrination?

I am not a fan of the "blame religion for the ills of the world" routine that a lot of atheists engage in, but I definitely think there is truth to this statement. Human beings have a tremendous capacity to convince themselves that whatever they're doing is ultimately for the good of humanity.

I think in-group/out-group categorizations are part of the human condition, and humans certainly seem to operate on a dual code of morality based on these categorizations. Killing a member of your in-group is considered a grievous transgression and often carries severe penalty. However, killing members of your out-group is not only permitted but encouraged and celebrated. In fact, someone who is particularly adept at it can earn a position of extremely high status within his group.

See, for example, how McCain's "bomb bomb bomb Iran," Obama's drone strike jokes, and Ted Cruz's "carpet bomb Syria" recommendation were all huge applause lines. For many people, atrocities fall into one of three categories: The ones committed by ourselves or countries we support are good ones. The ones committed by our official enemies are bad ones. The ones committed by neither side are insouciant ones.

J. Farmer said...

J. Farmer, William -- echoes of C.S. Lewis: Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.

Fully forty years later and we're seeing it in action quite clearly.

Keynesianism was the standard in his youth, austrian economics jusr werent on the plate.

John Maynard Keynes invented his theory in the depression-infested "Dirty Thirties." FDR jumped all over it and turned a depression into the Great Depression. Now we routinely turn every economic downturn into printing more money to give away and those who have some wealth pay the piper through inflation-diminished savings balances and earned interest returns. Trump's dumb venture into tariffs creating an international war on imports is another example of government clobbering our economy with high prices.

The Austrian School, which relies on free markets and capitalism to raise the drawbridge was beat down by socialist's at the beginning of the 20th Century and did not get revived until Friedrich Hayek's writings in 1974.

And finally, this is the first "riot" I've ever seen where the persons doing the "rioting" stayed within velvet ropes while peacefully walking through a museum-style display hall, again, documented on video, and where police officers are seen directing traffic peacefully from one place to another.
