Lincoln Project people must not have kids. Nobody peeks through their fingers when watching their kids play sports.

And foreigners are not our parents, and we are not their children. Confident, well-adjusted Americans don't care what foreigners think of our election outcomes. It's a two-way street. We generally don't give two shits about their elections because their elections really don't matter, do they?

But we're getting judged by History! Hope History likes the talent and swimsuit parts of the show and judges me with high scores.

If Steve Schmidt were any good at his job, Joe Biden would never have been Vice President.

I blocked the Lincoln Project on Twitter months ago, and seeing this ad gives me zero regrets on that decision. While Trump is not my favorite President from a demeanor standpoint (or from a spending standpoint), he has been tremendous on foreign policy, judicial nominations, and rolling back overregulation. Plus, he's a lot better than the opposition.

I had a poster back in the 70s, some of kind of nature scene and the text in big letters, Today is the First Day of the Rest of Your Life. I'm still not really sure what I was supposed to get out of that. If it's true, it's very Groundhog Day, yes? the movie not the actual day. I'm starting all over every morning, I never kept past Day One.

Anyway, I can't watch the video because I actually like Martin Sheen as an actor and I don't want to find a reason to dislike him. Now if Charlie Sheen was narrating it, I'd probably watch that. Winning!

Is this the real reason Ann is "abstaining" from this election?

A man who came to President Trump’s giant rally at a local airport Saturday night said he knew someone who planned to vote for Trump but felt too intimidated to say so publicly. I asked who it was. It was his mother, he answered, but she would kill him if she found out that he told anyone.

“There are a lot of people who are too afraid to put up a sign [for Trump],” he said, explaining that his neighborhood, more than an hour away, was mixed between Trump and Biden voters, and black and white voters. During the protests that followed the death of George Floyd, he said, “I pulled the Trump magnet off my Jeep. Everybody took their signs down. People don’t want to be a target.”

You lost me at 'voiced by Martin Sheen'. What is it with Democrats constantly living with either Franklin or Eleanor Roosevelt, John or Robert Kennedy, or Pres. Josiah Bartlett?

Gawd. Makes me want to puke. Walked in on my wife on Sunday catching up on CBS Sunday Morning and it had- Surprise!- another story on Eleanor Roosevelt. With that show it's always about a Democrat deity. I was thinking, how many other First Ladies have we had? (53) Of the 53 First Ladies, did not any of the others have interesting lives? Did they not do anything inspirational, or simply good for others? Did they not have one great story that could be told about them? Or just their simple story, which by itself, is probably a great story considering that most of them did not come from Roosevelt or Kennedy money?

Did you know that Louisa Catherine Adams (married to John Quincy Adams) was born in London and went on to become First Lady of the new country that had broken away from England due mightily to John's father's work?
Or Dolley Madison who made a point to remove the large Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington from the White House just before the British arrived to burn down the White House?
Or Jane Pierce, who's son was killed two years into Franklin Pierce's term. Jane stayed upstairs in their private quarter for most of those last two years, mourning her son's death.
Or Julia Grant, the first First Lady to be recorded on film and a staunch women's rights defender. She was very much liked in Washington for her social events.

Many lives, stories, both great and simple.

But, Nah...Roosevelts, Kennedys, and fictional presidents all the way down.

I don't know if I'm seeing the right video. The one I saw was quite boring and uninspiring. As noted above by Jake, everyday is the first day of the rest of any life.

It's spiros comment @8:59am that inspired me to comment. Isn't it funny that Trump is compared to Hitler, when the reality is Trump has done all he can to withdraw us from battles across the globe and encourage other nations to deal with their own defense. In the comparisons to Hitler, Trump is doing the exact opposite of what would be done to build an imperialistic nation. The odd thing is that Trump's own campaign hardly notes this. If Trump loses tonight; he will be the most peaceful President of the last 4 decades, and maybe many more than that.

I remember a scene from The West Wing when some character bemoans all the money the Feds are wasting on useless studies. One of the characters takes him to a room that is literally full of stacks of studies and asks him to pick one out at random, wanting to prove that they are not useless. So the skeptic pulls out a study and it involves the issue of disposing of garbage and how it is becoming more expensive because landfills are filling up. Once that is revealed the character who took him to the room gives him a triumphant look, the skeptic looks chastised and that is the end of the scene. Any conservative would have asked why that was a Federal issue? If disposal of trash is getting more expensive, wouldn't the price for carrying it off get more expensive? If so, wouldn't that be an incentive to produce less trash? I can see the need for environmental regulations, but removal and disposal of trash is a local issue.

Sheen's greatest regret is that he wasn't born a Kenned, though he did get to play Jack and Bobby, as well as the fictional president Bartlett. Maybe that's the reason - all the work on the accent and mannerisms and still, he wasn't the real thing. I also suspect his Irish mother and her relatives made things hard for his Mexican father.

I dunno, most of the Trump supporters I know are reluctant and dislike him; Hitler's supporters were enthusiasts in a cult of personality. (Trump has some of those, but I think people overestimate.)

Equally, the idea that Trump's some sort of Super Racist Racey-Racist appears to be ... something simply invented from whole cloth by his opponents. He has a myriad of faults, but he just ... doesn't seem to be an actual bigot, let alone a Hitler-style racial monomaniac.

But that's true of ... almost all the things I see my Progressive friends say about him? It's all stuff that would be Very Convenient If True, because it'd make him Super Awful.

But none of it stands up to close inspection as being anything but either invented or grossly exaggerated.

Which is a shame, since they could make real, substantive attacks on his actual actions, but ... prefer making sh!t up? Even when they claim it's about actions, they get everything wrong and make sh!t up.

Profoundly unserious people prating authoritatively do not help the Republic.)

Indeed. I was just surprised they didn't have another in their series, "Andrew Cuomo, the new Lightbringer." They don't even bother to pretend any more. With Eleanor Roosevelt I think of three things: Malcolm Muggeridge saying she was worse than Hitler or Stalin (true, both Hitler and Stalin murdered all these people; but they were discredited, whereas Mrs. Roosevelt went on to be revered, and looked on as a source of wisdom and inspiration--as witness the CBS Sunday Morning piece); and William Buckley's obituary that her life "was an unrelenting war against the syllogism." In fighting that war, she may have been ahead of her time. Now, that war is being carried on by most "liberals" "progressives" and other State-cultists.

Douglas Murray & Bret Weinstein: Portland is a Third World City

It's 14 minutes long.

Douglas Murray compares what he sees in Portland to what he has seen in other cities around the world.

"...the marches marched through residential areas screaming at householders telling them that they were living on stolen land and that black people used to live in this area and that they've been pushed out. Something that wasn't that evident. There were plenty of black homeowners in the area in question...That seemed to be a fairly ordinary evening in this city."

"...the sites in downtown Portland [created by the activists] seemed to me reminiscent of nothing so much as a third-world city. I mean people who haven't been here may be interested to know it is much worse than you expect."

"I have never been to a society where the local authorities allow para-military organizations to demand the killing of a journalist for the crime of reporting and to have such calls everywhere in the center of the city..."

"...the extent to which he has been braver than almost all the other journalists from this state together in bothering to report what so many journalists just think is not worth reporting -- to walk through the city center and to see on the World War II monuments, on the massive walls downtown, calls to kill Andy Ngo in big letters stated as such. It's not free speech. That is incitement to murder and the authorities here don't care about it at all."

"But the authorities here have let so much go that merely encouraging the murder of journalists for the crime of reporting is a comparatively minor issue..."

The contrast between the reality of cities where the left-wing absolutely dominates and the world portrayed in the campaign ad is truly dramatic.

I don't agree by the way that this is what a Hitler ad would look like. That statement shows a lack of awareness of what actually occurred in pre-Nazi Germany.

And I don't think Ann Althouse is to blame for not knowing that. But we have actual Nazi campaign ads. There are a lot of them. I assume the reason she hasn't seen them is because of the efforts of academia to bury the facts of what happened and who was doing what.

I've seen Nazi campaign ads that scream hatred of the Jews. No one could possibly miss it. The people that voted for the Nazis; they knew what they were voting for.

I've seen Nazi campaign ads that exude -- it's like pouring from the pores of the posters -- hatred of capitalists and businesses. No one could miss the message.

Nazi messages scream anger and hate and resentment. It's astonishing that a political party could win with such messages, but they did, even if it was only 40% of the population.

I grew up in New England in the '50's and '60's. We had lots of "life-long Republicans". After Ike (EVERYBODY liked Ike), they often voted for Democrats (except for Kennedy) for President, Senate, US House, but for Republicans for State and Local offices. Why? Because the Democrats at the State level nominated Irish, and Italians, and Jews as candidates, not Yankees. The sad truth is that a significant segment of the "life long Republican" cadre were anti-immigrant (really, anti-grandchildren-of-immigrants) bigots. That's no longer a viable explanation of the folks behind the "Lincoln Project"; I suspect they're just lefties. But when you listen to what they say about Trump, the crude guy from Queens, picture them in a drawing room, sipping tea, pinky finger raised. You won't be far off.
