The important thing is that I will never be a serf.
I will never become a slave to my government.

Ben Shapiro is an idiot with a grift.

When I was out hiking yesterday, I got so angry thinking about this election, that I started running hard while sort of stomping on the ground. And then I rolled my foot and sprained my ankle!

I was thinking about this later, but it doesn't matter who wins, a lot of people are going to be hurt.

Now that doesn't mean I think the consequences are symmetric. One side stands to lose far more than the other. But even so. Perhaps compassion would be appropriate, and especially compassion towards ourselves if we lose.

Ben does not think Trump will win, even thought he is supporting his re-election.

Goodbye to you, my trusted friend.
We've known each other since we were nine or ten.
Together we've climbed hills and trees.
Learned of love and ABC's,
skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.

Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die,
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Pretty girls are everywhere.
Think of me and I'll be there.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the hills that we climbed
were just seasons out of time.

Okay, it's autumn, but the sentiment remains.

Every morning, every evening
Ain't we got fun
Not much money, oh, but honey
Ain't we got fun
The rent's unpaid dear
And we haven't a bus
But smiles were made dear
For people like us

In the Winter in the Summer
Don't we have fun
Times are bum and getting bummer
Still we have fun
There's nothing surer
The rich get rich and the poor get poorer
In the meantime, in between time
Ain't we got fun

I just read how the D judges on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court decided unilaterally to allow ballots without legible postmarks or accurate signatures to be counted up to three days after the vote. Now I get to vote with that on my mind.

It's a beautiful day in Hershey, otherwise.

I enjoy Ben Shapiro when he slows down enough to be understandable. However, this comment calls to mind my Democrat in-laws in Santa Barbara and my retired physician neighbor; limousine liberals.

Shapiro has a net worth estimated at $20 million. He, my in-laws and my neighbor are insulated from the suffering I see reflected in empty storefronts that until recently housed thriving small businesses and the screams of babies left on the tables to die after unsuccessful abortions - the fruits of Democrat ascension.

Ben is a real smart young man. He likes grit and experience, though. I think he started out as a NeverTrumper, but then saw how deranged and dishonest the left was, so voted for DJT this time. Better late than never.

The important thing is that when you see a political party turn to violence to get their way you don't make them angry at you or oppose them.

You don't want to get involved.

Fighting for things is dangerous.

Just go with the flow.

Equal protection problem. There is precedent that this kind of stuff is not allowed. They will have to go through the ballots and match sigs just like in person voting, most likely.

Besides the immortal "trunalimunumaprzure," the biggest laugh I got out of the campaign was on today's IMAO blog. It has a panel with Kamala Harris at the top, and below that one of those photos of Biden massaging the shoulders of a young woman--a VERY young woman--while leaning in to sniff her hair. The caption reads, "Head and Shoulders."

Depends, a number of folks believe if this elections goes left, it is the last actual election that will be. If the Ds sweep, they will add two liberal states, the courts get packed left, the broke D states get bail-outs, the investigations stop against the Ds and start up on anyone left of AOC, and Rs never hold any Fed majorities or POTUS ever again. Don't know if I agree but some smarter than I do.

A lot of people like to think they are smarter than everyone else.

But they aren't as smart as they think they are.

Romney supporters come to mind.

We saw what a disaster Romney was. People like Ben who shit strawberry ice cream fell for it.

That's very generic. How, specifically, are people going to be hurt if Trump wins, and similarly for Biden?

I can't think of any reason that people have or will be hurt under Trump - barring those on the left who are victims of the left 'spoiled brat' violence. Conversely, based on what Biden and Harris have promoted, a lot of people are going to be hurt. Financially, second amendment, first amendment rights to name three.

"Ben does not think Trump will win, even thought he is supporting his re-election."

I honestly have no idea who will win this election. I think we had a good four-year run with Trump in office (especially as opposed to Hillary). He remade a good chunk of the judiciary, avoided additional wars, brought some sanity to the climate change debate, etc, etc, etc.

History has shown that 2nd terms tend to be less successful, sometimes disastrously so, than first terms. So another four years of Trump might not be as compelling as the last four. But at least we held back for a little while the trend toward statist, identity-driven, government-knows-best debauchery.

And, yes, it was great fun watching the media-meat-heads and others lose their minds over Donald Trump.

Rosalyn C. said...

I take Shapiro's comment as an expression of pathos, if Trump loses. There won't be riots or shriking, but a sad regret that we have lost someone and something really special.

Lurker21 said...

We did indeed. Remember hearing about how exciting 1968 was? This was our 1968, and so far none of the candidates has been killed. Remember the Bush v. Gore drama? It was a lot less heated than what we're going through now. Remember the Rise of Lightworker Obama? Doesn't he look and sound dull and uninspiring now? Trump has always been a major box office draw, and Joe Biden has proven himself more interesting than Hillary Clinton was. That may not be saying much, but it is a win for Joe. Mediocrity may not mean decency and integrity, but the more the media calls Joe "decent," the more people ask, "Just who is this guy anyway? And who is he fooling?"

So yeah. We all had fun. It reminds me of the blessing/curse "May you live in interesting times."

Oh, I agree with you. I agree with you that in terms of real hurt it's only the right that has something to lose.

What I was thinking of was the anger, the outrage, that people will feel if their candidate doesn't win. And that's there regardless of whatever connection there is to real world events.

It doesn't matter that hardly anyone on the left was objectively injured by Trump's win in 2016. They know, and I'm mocking them, that they are the good people, and the people that oppose them are evil. And therefore if their side doesn't win it's this great horror! And they will think this, as I know the left will, even as they are doing just fine or if they are not doing fine, it's not because of the government.

Now to some extent this is true for all of us. But not really, there are huge real negative consequences for anyone that is not on the left, when the left wins.

But I was advocating compassion for hurt feelings, or even fears, and they are significant all by themselves.

TRISTRAM said...

Actually that is, in fact, evil. It is important to do good. To live a life worth living. To have a death worth having. There is nothing about 'fun' involved in that. That is hedonism, Epicureanism. STFU and stop teaching that suff.

bagoh20 said...

He could be referring to the wonderful atmosphere and camaraderie people have been experiencing at Trump rallies, although I'm not sure he went to one. He's not a big Trump guy.

I have seen a lot of people who never got excited about politics or a candidate who attended Trump rallies out of curiosity and came back saying they had a great time. I never actually made it into one, but even outside of one here in Vegas the people were great, celebrating patriotism, optimism, and friendship among strangers, who treated each other like best friends. It was infectious, and yes, it was a lot of fun. You can't take that away by just voting in the wrong guy. We will have that as the best memories of 2020.

democraticals in Texas are unable to drive in their own lanes and they want to blame others for their incompetence:

Here's a nice little compendium of videos showing how the democratical marxist rammed the Trump truck behind the Biden bus:

Note: The Trump truck sustained only minor damage from the hapless, incompetent, moronic lefty democratical ramming him. The democratical vehicle? Major damage.

It's a campaign metaphor, isn't it?........

Ben Shapiro is kind of a wanker. I don't disagree with him on much, but I can't help but think he didn't get bullied enough in school and he kinda needed that. Though I do enjoy some of his earlier videos where he would go to college campuses and literally just expose them to facts. Still though, I fee like he and the world would have benefited if he had gotten pushed into more lockers.

You are totally right about this, my friend Achilles. I drank the GOP/Romney/Ryan Kool-aid for far too long.

But, despite my apprehensions, I voted Trump in 2016.

And, in 2020, I voted enthusiastically for Trump. And I predict he will win.

Trump is trying his best to clean out the deadweight of both the GOP and the Federal Govt. Let's hope the Americsn people give him the authority to continue doing it.

bagoh20 said...

That one video shot from directly behind the Texas bus incident clearly shows the Trumper truck in the center of the far right lane with nowhere to go when the Bidenette white car crosses into his lane and tries to push the truck off the road, because the truck had nowhere else to go to avoid it. Why do you people on the left find it so hard to accept the truth of anything, even your own eyes.
