"Kellyanne Conway announces she's leaving the White House and George Conway is stepping away from Lincoln Project."

CNN reports.
"I will be transitioning from the White House at the end of this month. George is also making changes," Kellyanne Conway said in a statement. "We disagree about plenty but we are united on what matters most: the kids. Our four children are teens and 'tweens starting a new academic year, in middle school and high school, remotely from home for at least a few months. As millions of parents nationwide know, kids 'doing school from home' requires a level of attention and vigilance that is as unusual as these times."

George Conway tweeted minutes earlier that he was withdrawing from The Lincoln Project -- a group formed by anti-Trump Republicans -- to "devote more time to family matters."...

One of the Conways' high school-aged daughters has generated attention on social media about her family and their political views over the last several months.
Here's yesterday's post about Claudia Conway's social-media cry for help.

ADDED: For once, it's believable that somebody left their job to spend more time with their family.

AND: Congratulations to the girl for putting out such an effective cry for help.

ALSO: "Look what I did. Look at what I did, ladies and gentlemen."

I thought KAC should just divorce George and give him Claudia. But good for her. Claudia is a tough case.

Yes, so good to see family and society alike support a powerful career woman in her work. Her husband is a jewel and her daughter's mind is probably aflame with ideals of empowered womanhood.

Trump Derangement can break a family.

It is an addiction. According to Politico, on Sunday, as a farewell on Twitter, George Conway continued his attacks on the president and shared a series of his opinion columns slamming Trump as a “narcissistic sociopath” and a “cancer on the presidency.

Claudia and George for the win.

The Conway parents are sophisticated professionals. They will do fine professionally. The children are children
and need parental attention from loving, caring adults. The very public vituperation associated with George and Kellyanne
has not been good for fostering a loving, caring relationship among and between family members. Both parents stepping
away from the public arena for a while seems like a reasoned choice. Lets leave the Conways alone to mop up the
family wreckage wrought by their politics.

I'd be interested in a poll about ostracism or bullying and Trump support. It's hard to imagine anyone who's ever been targeted supporting the type of bullying that's gone on the last four years.

The right decision. Their daughter needs help, and her Dad hating on her Mom because he is jealous that she is a dynamic woman who has done the job no other woman before her has done..but she isn't a Democrat, so no credit at all.

Kelly Anne “leading by example” for women everywhere who have children at home, needing supervision and education since the local schools are too afraid to open, according to Dana Perino. I like that BOTH parents stopped working at politics to do this. Kelly Anne Conway will long be remembered for the winning campaign she ran, the first woman to run a successful presidential bid. Trump won because he hired her. It’s too bad her fat stupid husband couldn’t be professional and supportive but then RINOs are notoriously dangerous animals.

KC noted in 2016 that she was having difficulty getting her kids into private schools around D.C. Did she stop to think that perhaps, just perhaps, the same schools she worried were “anti-Trump” would be educating her kids to be anti-Trump as well?

Who are we kidding? Not only are teachers not “Our Heroes”- assuming they ever were - now they are actively hostile to America qua America.

After all, where did BLM and Antifa learn their hatred for America?

Good. I am so tired of Conway and her family drama. Her husband and daughter sound like horrible people. It reminds me of Reagan and his 2nd family. Did any President have worse children than Ron reagan jnr. and Patti Davis?

Tom said...

I have some friends who had similar issues with a kid. She was in private school all caused all sorts of domestic and social media drama. The parents had really pampered her her entire life. Her parents had done well until the 2009 collapse and they both lost their jobs. They had money but it was definitely tighter with no income. When the girl began asking for things they couldn’t provide, she launched into all sorts of drama, making it very tough for either parent to get new job. The parents pulled her out of private school and sent her to a scary inner city school (which was their school district but no wealthy folks sent their kids to public school.) She got two black eyes on the first day on the city bus. So they got her karate lessons and sent her back to school. She learned very quickly how to de-escalate conflict and to not create it.

She eventually went to college, then law school, and is a kick-ass attorney now. She still high strung but in no way spoiled.

If they have mental illness, you can deal with it, because its a medical issue. But if they're just assholes, its hard to take.

I need to say a discouraging word about all of this "good for her" cheering. KC is one of Trump's greatest advocates and now she is standing down just two months before the election when he needs her the most.

George Conway has been a mess for years. This could have happened anytime since 2018. Instead, KC is leaving the battlefield.

This is what all of the relentless attacks on Trump, his family and his closest aids is all about. KC's life became so intolerable, she had to step down.

Hopefully there is a secret "consulting" agreement worked out between her and Trump

I would not be surprised. Girls that age can get into serious trouble. I remember a kid a few years ago who got lots of publicity for making porn flicks while a college student. She was talking about how happy she was but I saw a photo of her and she had self mutilation scars on her legs. This kid is trouble.

“Congratulations to the girl for putting out such an effective cry for help.” Really, Althouse. Dumping on your mother on social media is “a cry for help?” Sometimes I am surprised by the traces of academia silliness that linger in the Professor.

In any other era and, apparently, with another family, Kellyanne would be recognized for pushing through the so-called glass ceiling during the 2016 campaign. Instead, she has been vilified by the mediaswine, embarrassed by the ravings of the disloyal RINO she is married to and is now subject to the social media whinging of a left-leaning 15-year-old.

Bah!

I read the girl's recent twitter feed, and I doubt that she expressed a single thought there that she had not expressed face-to-face to her parents multiple times.

Her thoughts appear completely rational, or at least understandable. She thinks her mom & pop are neglecting her while they are chasing fame & dough, and she says so. Sounds fair enough to me.

It reads to me that Claudia is the reality-based member of the family, and she thinks her parents are neglecting her while they are off somewhere in la-la land, tilting at phantasmic windmills.

Yes, it's a shame she had to take to twitter to get them to take her seriously, but that is on them, in my opinion. Public embarrassment sometimes is the only thing that works at getting the aspirationally motivated to pay attention.

If a social satirist — imagine a young, new Tom Wolfe — wrote the fictional George and Kellyanne Conway story and insisted the plot would play out in the national media via their daughter’s social media account in the weeks leading up to the Presidential election, everyone would say the story was too too. Yet here we are. Indeed, it seems like things have been too too for the past twenty-five years, starting around the time OJ Simpson met Mark Fuhrman.

This is a good example (at face value only) of the difference between having children and rearing children. Happens across the socio-economic spectrum. Having children, vs actual doing the work of rearing them. Kids being ignored, because the parents lie to themselves, they have more important places to invest their time, than time with children

Commenter Oso Negro? You misspelled "jewel" when referring to George Conway. The correct spellins is "Jerk". Glad to fix that for you.

As for Ms. Conway she said that henceforth (for a while at least) her kids would have "Less Drama--More Mama". You have to make your choices about what's important in life--and trying to raise your kids and keep them on track is important. That said, I still think it's sometimes a matter of plain dumb luck if your kids turn out okay. I've seen some friends try hard and fail--and others try hard and succeed. But dumb luck has a role in the outcome.

As noted up thread, this is a fact that would get you booted from twitter and facebook, fact checked and source of ridicule.

Two parent households is the gold standard to a functioning family.

Crackmc hates that to be pointed out. +70% AA births are to single mothers. Lots of girls and boys, missing a male influence on their lives.

"Congratulations to the girl for putting out such an effective cry for help.” Really, Althouse. Dumping on your mother on social media is “a cry for help?”

Then, a couple of comments down, bbkingfisher (I think I got that right) said in his/her opinion young Claudia's Twitter feed sounded like things she must have said to her parents in person many times. That's a pretty broad assumption, it seems to me.

That said... on the basis of the little we know, I am willing to give Claudia this much: her execrable behavior on social media was a cry for help. I'm not willing to say - on the basis of the little we know - that she knew it was. And, I stand by my comment on the other Claudia thread: I love when teenagers blackmail their parents.

But I'll add this: I also love when political operatives use children against their parents.

Michael K said...

Well, that's what she should get.

Interesting that a full-grown man would be keeping up to date on the juicy details of a 15 year-old girl's travails. It is a really low behavior, even for you, "Dr." Mikey.

All I know about Claudia is what I read on her twitter feed last night, which i found via this blog. That is what I based my comment on.

But how would a grown man find out that a 15-year old girl has been self-mutilating?

Has Claudia been covered on reality TV lately? Is it something that you heard some bold truth-teller like Sean Hannity say? Or do you just routinely stalk children on the internet? You must be following Claudia very closely.

In any event, I'm saying there is no way that you know that what you say about Claudia is true.

But here you are, thumping your puffed up chest and playing the big shot, hiding behind anonymity, bunking on a kid whose parents wouldn't let a slimy creep like you within 100 yards of her.
