"If it were up to me, and it's not, I would stop putting those briefings on live TV. Not out of spite but because it's misinformation."

"If the president does end up saying anything true, you can run it as tape but if he keeps lying like this every day on stuff this important, all of us should stop broadcasting it. Honestly, it's gonna cost lives."

Said Rachel Maddow — to whom it is not up, who can safely indulge in that figure of speech — quoted in "MSNBC's Maddow wants Trump kept off TV, blasts 'fairytale' news briefings" (Fox News).

That's being made a thing of on Twitter I see, and I really don't care. Do you?

Mar 20:
"The pharmacological activity of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine was tested using SARS-CoV-2–infected Vero cells. ...
Based on PBPK models, the authors recommend a loading dose of hydroxychloroquine 400 mg PO BID, followed by 200 mg BID for 4 days."

And yet
When reporters asked Tony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, whether the drug hydroxychloroquine was effective at preventing coronavirus, he said simply: “The answer is no.”

“What I’m saying is that it might be effective,” Fauci said.

Bruce Hayden said...

“If organizations like CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC stop carrying Trump’s press conferences, We the people will find them somehow. If not Fox then some online source. What that does to their viewership is their problem”

That is the problem for them. They don’t like giving Trump all this free campaign coverage. But pulling 5he plug will kill their ratings, because this is a real crisis, and the best information comes out of those news conferences. Fox is likely to stay in, because part of their business strategy is still to broadcast what the other networks won’t, for highly partisan reasons. The Murdock boys may not like Trump, or the Republicans, as much as their father did, but contrary to the other networks, their news division appears to make money. And CSPAN doesn’t really have a choice.

I have little doubt that these other news networks would much rather be counter programming against Trump, with an election coming up in November. But this a crisis, and what they would need to do would be to reduce the public’s confidence in how Trump is handling the crisis. First, most people prefer being calmed than panicked at such a time. And those who do get panicked by, for example, watching Madcow instead of Trump, are going to do stupid things, and eventually get called out for it. And maybe get the disease. And that means that these networks will ultimately be called out by Trump, etc, for it. Which just reinforces that smart people should be going to the source, the daily news briefings by Trump and his team, instead of listening to libtard people on the news networks spewing idiocy.

There is a saying that if you aren’t part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. The left wing news networks cannot afford to be seen as part of the problem, in a time of crisis. Their ratings losses would likely be long lasting, if not permanent. They all seem to share a common problem, of being money losers, with corporate ownership with few ties to news reporting. For example, Disney is going to get absolutely hammered during this crisis, with their theme parks around the world shuttered, along with the theaters that would normally showcase their new movies. Can they afford to add to the red ink, by not carrying the briefings, and permanently losing viewership? And it’s partially the IBM problem. During the 1970s and 1980s IBM rarely had the best technology with their mainframes, esp when it came to software. Yet, they maintained their monopoly because of the adage that no one was ever fired for buying IBM over their competitors. It was almost always the expensive solution, but more importantly, it was the safe choice. The safe choice here is to stick with broadcasting the Wuhan Coronavirus press conferences for the meantime, and not risk low ratings, and a panicking corporate board of directors, under significant fiscal pressure, looking their way for cost cutting opportunities. At least for awhile longer.

Trump now touting Walmart CEO’s support. Keep in mind that eight days ago in the Rose Garden, he promised that there’d be drive through testing in Wal-Mart parking lots, which was a blatant lie.

VP clarifies that the masks Trump bragged about won’t be available for weeks.

“State-run drive throughs are expanding across the country,” VP says re testing, though this doesn’t include the non-existent Walmart parking lot tests Trump claimed would be available at last friday’s rose garden event.

“There’s never been a thing like this in the history of the world,” Trump says of coronavirus.

Trump says "Nobody knew that a virus could travel from country to country. Really incredible."

J. Diamond reading quotes from doctors about lack of masks, asks Trump why this wasn’t resolved weeks ago. Trump (who has been in office for THREE YEARS) responds by blaming previous administrations and claiming other people are saying good things re masks.

There is only one more step for China, the Democrats, the media and the rest of team globalist left to take.

The Chicoms are going to fall over this. Long or short the people in China now hate the regime. Hate. Viscerally.

China just also royally fucked all of their "allies" in the belt and road initiative. The globalist shills in Italy are probably trying to get out of the country and hide in south america right now. China's globalist allies like the Mayor of Florence and Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton are going to get burned at the stake by the people they have been selling out for the last several decades.

1. He is profiting from it;

2. He is putting Pharma companies out of business;

3. He should have spent time testifying at the Senate impeachment trial and;

Timing here is everything. As far as we can tell, on January 31, most of the infections we know about, even now, worldwide were coming from China. and/or ethnic Chinese.

The thing to do, in this country, to fight a pandemic like this, is to play for time. That is because time is on our side. And that is because it gives us enough time to get sufficient testing into place, as well as to identify antivirals that prove useful, and ultimately to produce an effective vaccine.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive 2020 Democratic nominee, is nowhere to be found in the crisis. Sen. Bernie Sanders’ policies are insane, but at least he held some pressers on this matter, mostly to push for his Medicare for All proposal which would have done nothing to shield people from getting sick.

The Democrats are nowhere to be found on this. It’s been Republicans who have been quarterbacking the response on the Hill. HuffPo described their move on this matter as disastrous, as the GOP has taken the leadership role, despite Democrats controlling the House and the money for all this stuff.

We seem to have lost a good man on the battle-field of ideas. War is heck.

One man's ideas are another man's emergency ass wipe.

Here's a Tucker video essay from last month in which he highlighted America's suicidal drive to be wholly dependent on China for manufacture of our most basic and critical things -- driven by a media that is corrupted by Chinese money.

Like Trump, I'm optimistic we'll defeat the Virus, and only lose a small number of people. The Ebola killed 8-10 thousand and people can barely remember it. People are already coming up with solutions to mitigate the impact.

I'm less optimistic about the Economy and stock market. Do we really need to flood the country with $2 Trillion? We're halted and reduced activity, but nothing has been destroyed. The stocks and assets were overvalued. We've just slowed/stopped buying and selling. When we go back to doing that, the economy should bounce back.
