"If it were up to me, and it's not, I would stop putting those briefings on live TV. Not out of spite but because it's misinformation."

"If the president does end up saying anything true, you can run it as tape but if he keeps lying like this every day on stuff this important, all of us should stop broadcasting it. Honestly, it's gonna cost lives."

Said Rachel Maddow — to whom it is not up, who can safely indulge in that figure of speech — quoted in "MSNBC's Maddow wants Trump kept off TV, blasts 'fairytale' news briefings" (Fox News).

That's being made a thing of on Twitter I see, and I really don't care. Do you?

There is clearly no limit beyond which our lefties wont go to defend the ChiComs.

No limit at all.

Its so reminiscent of the lefts/dems/LLR's lovefest with the Soviets against republican Presidents.

Lefties gonna lefty...

I care that the fascists of teh Left are taking the masks off, and showing what they truly are.

President Trump rightly calls these people "enemies of America". No one else would push something like her claim

The desperation of the lefties is driven by their recognition that this is their last, best opportunity to launch a tornado of lies against Trump in the hopes of dragging the dead carcass of Joe Biden over the election finish line and the lefties are going to push this latest hoax as far and as fast and as long as they can.

Because after this, there is no tomorrow for them.

Spoiler: its not working....and its not going to work.

But that doesn't mean we shouldn't push back hard against every new lie the ARM's and LLR-lefty Chuck's of the world launch here.

@anti-de Sitter space, I'll tell you something similar to what I told Ritmo. Your social sadism has never been appreciated by us and during this time of global crisis, even less so. You're banned.

Achilles regularly threatens to kill people he disagrees with. Why has he not been banned, when others are being banned for much less?

ARM: "Achilles regularly threatens to kill people he disagrees with."

ARM's lies just keep getting more and more pathetic.

I am still curious, ARM, how you can remain a committed small 'd' democrat, and, presumably, a constitutionalist, if the democratic process results in a person you believe may well destroy the world economy & ecology being elected president?
You must realize that as a citizen your task is to govern the country with the 49% who voted for Trump, not rule over them.

Drago, are you seriously suggesting that Achilles does not regularly threaten violence against people he disagrees with? Achilles needs help, not enablers.

In the sensational build up, the press has been assuring / warning us that millions will die. They had convinced themselves that the incompetent and feckless President would not be capable of martialling a plan. Now they know they were wrong on both counts. The strength Trump shows in these conferences is KILLING them. What’s more, they are DEATHLY AFRAID that when this proves to be less than their exaggerated predictions, Trump will get the credit. That’s why they want him off the air.

Remember, by “lie” they mean not accepting their worldview.

Maddow was hardly original in blasting Trump for his constant lying about important developments occurring with the coronavirus plague. Professor Jay Rosen objected to reporters even presenting questions to our deceitful president in an article from last Wednesday here.

Rosen pointed out that people who think that confronting Donald Trump more forcefully with facts he cannot deny will produce some kind of accountability must never have lived with or frequently countered a malignant narcissist. He wrote: "There will be no moment where some reporter asks (as attorney Joseph Welch did at the Army/McCarthy hearings) “have you no sense of decency?” and Trump crumbles. We need to stop looking for that."

Were you a talented commenter instead of a paid hack, you'd have a snappy link ready to support you claim.

For several months now, I've been expecting such a summary dismissal of the left. I looked for it from the Senate during the impeachment. Didn't happen. Perhaps it's yet to come.

And yet it does not other you that the media failed to call Obama on his "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor, if you like your plan, you can keep your plan" lie. Obama used that lie 36 times. And it was clearly bullshit. He left the writing of the bill to Pelosi & Reid, he didn't know what it said. And it was a calculated lie. Since more than 80% of Americans approved of their health plan, Obama needed that lie to convince them not to oppose Obamacare because they feared that they would not be able to keep their current insurance.
This is exactly the kind of lie the press is supposed to expose, and instead the press disgraced their profession and became partisan backers of Barack H. Obama.

Which premises? Don't you think that Trump is a danger to the survival of the Republic?

JAORE said...

I suspect polling shows that people watching President Trump in action at these briefings are impressed with the efforts being made and the team approach.

MSNBC can't allow their filter to be taken away. People might see.

[Side note: Why is it predominately the left that wants fewer points of information? I suppose it is because exposure to counter positions leads to questioning their truth.]

I was gonna bite my tongue, but you would have been first on my ban list, followed by roesch/voltaire and adSs in either order.

Ritmo I would have tried to work with, he is just going through something I think, but you, this is the real you. I don't even mind Chuck, he is so ineffectual; his only problem is that he's so easy to hit that it almost seems unsporting.

Suppressing others is facism. Everyone should be able to deal with everyone else's opinions, without resorting to threats of violence or constant verbal attacks. That is what being a grown up means. Grow up.

No. I think he is a blowhard, obsessed with own image, and very limited intellectually. Most people see this.

Self-refuting. Without "constant verbal attacks" this would be the sum of your contributions to this forum:

The only (minor) flaw in your 3:22am comment is the word "became"... Because the press already was that.

Agree 100% on the blowhard and self-image, although I do think that’s a manufactured persona.

Anyone assuming that he’s very limited intellectually is either very stupid themselves or blinded by hatred. Or both.

That describes all politicians, doesn't it? I didn't vote for Trump. I have no emotional reaction to Trump. I had no emotional reaction to Obama.

A person who is not intellectually limited understands the limits of their intellect. They don't attempt to impose false narratives on reality.

Lewis Wetzel said...

I am trying to point out a tension in American liberalism. They want to give the government broad power to reform society by imposing rules on how people may interact with one another. Yet they say that they are committed to democracy. So what happens when the people choose a leader whom they believe will use the power of government incorrectly (aka "corruptly")?
Constitutional restraints are no safe harbor, since American Liberals believe in a very broad interpretation of the constitution, especially where it limits government power.
American liberals also have no refuge in social constraints against a would-be tyrant. They have been working very hard at undermining social constraints for over 50 years.
So they are left with the bureaucracies and the judiciary. The problem with using bureaucracies and the judiciary to reign in a tyrant is that they are not accountable to the people, and this is a requirement for a republic and a democracy.

The left always telegraphs who and what they are afraid of. At this point It's undeniable Trump is being successful leading the country through this crisis. We can't have that now, can we? Slow Joe Biden is nowhere to be seen. (Just as well we need to protect the at-risk elderly)

That, from the Rachel Maddow who spent 2.5 years telling untruths about Russiagate?

Hilarious.
