Of course, by Nov this will have already burned itself out.

Too Long; Didn't Read. I'm going to wait and listen to Biden explain "his" detailed plan in depth at the next debate. You know, after he figures out where he is and why he's there.

Todd said...

So Biden's plan is basically Trump's plan but better cause he is going to spend more government (meaning our) money! He will issue more mandates, task bunches of folks to do more stuff, get more people on various government programs.

Does his team understand that if this is still a problem in November, his plan is not needed cause it will be too late? Or is this entire plan just a political statement meant to belittle the current administration's reaction without having to actually come out a criticize it?

Does Biden even know what is in it? At this point, could he even read it/discuss it on live TV? Would his handlers trust him to?

Is Joe going to go on the air nd elucidate this? It would be a humiliating episode I am sure.

A decisive public health response that ensures the wide availability of free testing;

From what I understand, currently testing is covered by insurance and the co-pays are being waved. In fairness though, the uninsured would still presumably have to pay for testing and I have no idea how much a test currently costs.

the elimination of all cost barriers to preventive care and treatment for COVID-19

This is far too vague to parse. First of all, this needs to define "preventive care" and the what the "cost barriers" are to it.

the development of a vaccine;

This is happening, obviously. Are they attempting to argue that it isn't?

and the full deployment and operation of necessary supplies, personnel, and facilities.

Again, too vague. What supplies, personnel, facilities are necessary that aren't being "deployed" (whatever that means).

Biden believes we must spend whatever it takes, without delay, to meet public health needs and deal with the mounting economic consequences

During the heart of a crisis, it's easy to make such proclamations. But without specific, it's all just hot wind.

Their fundraising is not approved by and has no connection to any candidate.

Biden knows how to mount an effective crisis response and elevate the voices of scientists, public health experts, and first responders. He helped lead the Obama-Biden Administration’s effective response to the 2009 H1N1 pandemic and the 2014 Ebola epidemic. Biden also helped lead the response to the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression and ran point on implementation of the Recovery Act. He knows how to get relief out the door to families, as well as resources to state and local officials to deal with the challenges they are facing.

LOL. Does ANYONE remember biden "Running point" on the recovery act? Or leading the "effective response" to H1N1 flu in 2009? 12,000 Americans died from H1N1. Did anyone panic? No, because the press covered the story - with a pillow.

A few thing to keep in mind while the world melts down. and MSM dancing with glee and fake fear.

1) the "hospital bed shortage" panic: has not happened yet and people who are sick need to self quarantine and not necessarily take up a hospital bed. This is obvious. Save the beds for the elderly
2) the elderly are taking the hit on this virus more than any other group. Deaths are highest with Cov-19 70+ and of those 70+ who have other health issues.
3) This is especially true in Italy, with a higher ratio of elderly, family clusters, kiss-hello/kiss-goodbye (yes this is a thing), and higher rates of smoking overall among the population as a whole, esp in older generations.

Costco is getting more ridiculous by the day.

4) the Swineflu or H1N1 perspective (memory holed) why - because Lord King Obama was MSM lover-boy crica.

CDC stats:
From April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, CDC estimated there were 60.8 million cases (range: 43.3-89.3 million), 274,304 hospitalizations (range: 195,086-402,719), and 12,469 DEATHS (range: 8868-18,306) in the United States due to the (H1N1)pdm09 virus.

It is not just that Biden is corrupt, not very intelligent, and senile. He is evil. He is politicizing what might be -- at least in economic terms -- the worst public health crisis in history. Why doesn't it occur to his handlers or other Dem politicians that what is needed now is unity?

ARM: "Wonder how much this plan would tank the Dow Jones. Trump's plan proved to double-double extra-strength Dow Jones tanker. Bet Biden can't beat that."

Wall Street is not Main Street, as you will see again in November.

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits unexpectedly fell last week as employers continued to hold on to their workers.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped 4,000 to a seasonally adjusted 211,000 for the week ended March 7, the Labor Department said. Jobless claims are the most timely labor market indicator. They have declined for two straight weeks."

ARM and the dems hardest hit.

Record number of Americans working and getting jobs happily content.

These Americans, by the way, are precisely the people that OBiden-Bama left behind as they continued the sellout to China.

Don't worry though ARM. I'm sure the RNC is teeing up all those OBiden-Bama comments that China is not our competitor and that Americans never lost jobs to China and NAFTA is an A-OK trade deal and there is nothing wrong with selling out to the Davos crowd, etc.

OBiden-Bama certainly ran point on US relations with China and Ukraine....which is how his coked-up addled moron son who got thrown out of the Navy after just a month was able to "garner" $83,000 per month from Putin's energy pals in Ukraine AND pull down a very very very cool $1.5 BILLION in investment dollars from Biden's Chinese allies.

That's on top of Biden's brother getting very wealthy on fat govt deals that OBiden-Bama smoothed over for him.........

But its all good, because under Sleepy Joe's watch, all it took for OBiden-Bama to declare an H1N1 health emergency in 2009 was over 1,000 people dead!

You know what would really help right now? Open Borders and Beto running the Biden admin program of confiscating weapons from law-abiding citizens.

Perhaps people on this blog need to look up the difference between a epidemic and a endemic disease. Epidemics like COVID-19 affect less people than endemics like the flu initially, but increase their morbidity with inaction. The former should be nipped in the bud, while the latter require a more broad based approach. Everything doesn't have to be about Trump; some things need people coming together to help each other. We used to be able to do that; I fear that it's going to take a disaster to unite us.

He's going to pass out stuff such as test kits and protective suits. Why aren't they being passed out now? Because there aren't enough. How will Biden snap them into existence? He'll call on experts - the CDC - Centers for Disease Control. But the CDC is the one leading the present response - the response that Biden is going to do better. The CDC has gotten 9 billion dollars since 2002 yet it isn't doing any of the things Biden says he'll get done. How? Who will do it. The CDC? Then why isn't the CDC doing it now? In 2017 the CDC got 300 million to track and treat Zika flu. But the CDC doesn't seem to have learned lessons or developed expertise even though two years ago they got hundreds of millions to track and treat a flu and even though Disease Control is their mission. How's Biden going to handle the problems at the CDC? How's Biden going to handle all the regulations preventing action? And what about China's hold on the manufacture of respirators and antibiotics? How's Biden going to handle that?

Biden's plan is little kid stuff. I'll ORDER them to pass out test kits (that don't exist). I'll work with scientists but not, of course, the ones presently (not) doing the job but some others which I'll find in the same place as the test kits and, also, I'll find a vaccine there and pass it out for free and it will work and unicorns will deliver everything under RAINBOWS.

What an idiot! Joe Biden says it's "xenophobic" or straight-up racist" to avoid Chinese restaurants, or was it AOC, during an outbreak in which, up until recently, almost all transmission to Americans was by Chinese travelers or US travelers returning from China.

For those grousing about testing: treatment-determining tests by law have to be done in a CLIA-compliant laboratory using a federally-approved test. Takes a long time to get a test approved under current law. Congress is the only way to change that, and the House is focused on getting $$ for abortion into emergency legislation, and not on relaxing the regulatory barriers to getting test approved.

It appears that some AIDS anti-viral drugs help. Who do we give those to? Will I get them if I have mild symptoms?

I guess I don't see why testing everyone does any good, other than for statistics.

So ARM’s big beef with Trump on the outbreak is that he didn’t overrule the CDC quickly enough on their demands to control all testing because we all know that Trump’s natural tendency would not be to go with the private sector but to stick to state control over testing.

I am sure that Biden or Clinton would have countermanded the “professionals” at the CDC much sooner. It’s the “professionals” at the CDC who screwed the pooch on testing. Of course one would expect the Democrats to have listened to their advice, so Democrats would have handled this much better.

ARM thinks Trump is making COVID 19 test kits. One of the reasons why I am a Republican and you are a leftist tool is that I know bureaucracies don't get things done and you want them running everything.

Democrats have been acting like human scum, working to undermine the president at every step. The bogus arguments about testing is just one example.

Testing has finally been turned over to the private sector and the CDC forced to back down on their rigid “protocols” and expect that we can soon have implemented the kinds of testing that other countries have implemented. Those other countries didn’t have politicized health ministries trying to undermine the head of state.

“So Biden's plan is basically Trump's plan but better cause he is going to spend more government (meaning our) money! He will issue more mandates, task bunches of folks to do more stuff, get more people on various government programs”

To simplify Biden’s plan:
- give control to the bureaucrats and hire more of them.
- bribe people to vote for Democrats by giving them free stuff

The problem, of course, is that the bureaucrats are why we got behind the ball in the first place. The State Department Obama holdover snuck the plane load of cruise ship people into the country, many apparently infected, and hence many of the infections in this country. And then they centralized testing kits under Obama/Biden. But the great thing about bureaucracies is that if they screw up they tend to get more money, because obviously, it wasn’t their incompetence that caused the screwup, but rather not having enough bureaucrats and money dedicated to the project. Contrast that, of course, with the private sector, where screwing up causes losses, and even bankruptcies. In the latter, there is an incentive to do it right. Not so much in the Dem big government model.

can I tell you a little story? It's dumb.
So yesterday I went to costco with an agenda. I wanted to buy copious amounts of liquid hand soap.
All. OUT.
That doesn't stop me from spending 300 dollars, tho. (doink)
I purchased 4 sensor lights that run off of little solar panels. Nifty! (for a job) and they are 10 bucks off on sale. Nifty! but sometimes costco sells crap, so my intention of course is keep the receipt, just in case.

I pile my cart with stuff for the basement to survive a month ahead of the upcoming apocalypse. I wait in a huge line, and I get the heck out of there. It was weird in there. Felt like zombies walking around. so quiet. No samples. just zombies filling carts waiting for the end. some people wearing face masks.

I get out of there thinking *I don't want to ever go back*. I venture to my next stop - Natural Grocers. Where I re-fill my water jugs with delicious 25 cent per gallon reverse osmosis water. Arrive - and as I pack the cart with my empties, on my way in I realize one of the jugs is missing a lid. So I park the cart in the parking lot and go back to my car to look for the lid. I open the passenger door and a gust of wind grabs that stupid costco receipt, which I left on the seat, and blows it into the sky. Like the wizard of oz. So I watch the piece of paper lift higher and higher into the sky and then vanish over the Fex-ex store and probably down east pearl.
why am I telling you this? turns out, you can go to costco at any time and they will re-print your receipt. So I did. I went back. to costco. to the service desk and viola- I have my receipt again. Just out of curiosity, I wanted to see if they happened to stock that soap. Ventured in. (eee gads) NO soap. but holy batjeeebzues. The zombie lines were worse. They queued and wound back and around whole aisles towards the back of the store. I've never seen anything like it. people were buying refrigerators.

@ARM
I agree. The stock market was overvalued. P/E's were in the 22 range. People aren't going to put their money in 1% T-bills. There may have been some over-optimism regarding the trade war involved? After a 10 year run Trump was all in on pumping it up more (you'll have your own opinion on why). Anyway, a bear market isn't that suprising on its own even without CV-1. P/E's are below 17 (the recent norm) now. There'll be at least 2 bad quarters of GDP growth at least, so expect the market to go lower yet. It will certainly hurt him politically, but probably not to the extent you hope imo. He has managed to come through his previous "Katrinas" without too many scars.
