Merry Christmas to all!

I turned 50 this Christmas and have what I want. Health and family. And looking back, it’s been a long, twisting road to where I am, but I couldn’t ask for more. I have about as good a life as one can ask for.

Merry Christmas, Professor, and everyone here.

To all:

A very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

My gift from the American people will come next Nov. I hope it is Warren as the POTUS.

Cheers,
Raj

The joy of children over even the simplest of things. I remember when my 3 brothers and I would get empty boxes to play with in the basement.

Merry Christmas to our dear Professor.

Hey, the kid likes bananas. The best gifts to a young child are usually simple ones, like a package of balloons or a box of chalk.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

JAORE said...

What did I get for Christmas.

Well I "get" to live in a hotel room with Ms. JAORE and two pups since our kitchen burned on Thanksgiving day. Another month to go.

Sub-optimal to be sure. But the kids pitched in with family Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Plus the long wanted kitchen update proceeds apace and we are all well.

I am blessed.

Jeez, now I feel horrible. I did not have that reaction when my wife gave me a banana for Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone - celebrating Christ's birth!! Had all three children and all 7 grandchildren and my mid-80s parents here last week - the first time some of them have seen the others. (Daughter has twins 11 months old, son has 3 month old.) Youngest one baptized on Sunday. Doesn't get better than that. Except that son is deploying next month.

Such a sweet and a gentle reminder to count blessings in what ever way they are packaged. Merry Christmas to all. Every day on multiple occasions, our hostess or someone in the comments section gives me the wonderful gift of a surprise smile, an outright laugh or a brain tickle to think on.

Leland! Friend! Buddy! You know, I've been thinking, we really should spend more time together. You have such great comments here at the blog. "Gems" I call them. By the way, did you lose weight?

Truly blessed. Both children invited us to spend Christmas eve and day with their families, as the grandkids unloaded the Christmas tree. We were forced to choose. We ared blessed with that simple abundance. Chose one family, and with modern technology, received a pile of pictures from the other family.

Thank you for the reminder of Christmas past. My parents grew up in humble conditions during the Great Depression. An orange or banana was considered a special treat under the Christmas tree.

My God bless all of you on this sacred day and in the New Year.

Well Ann, dunno about getting what we want, but we will get what we deserve, that is for sure!

I got to take my nephew to Joshua Tree yesterday. The idea (For me of course). was a half day Gram crash course but he doesn’t give a crap so we just hung out. He’s never seen anything in that scale and did totally dig Cap Rock. I explained to him that if I ever just disappeared, I’d be my bones will be out there somewhere. He’s the one I’ve chosen to tell. He’s a good kid. Now we’re in Palm Springs, had the best Mexican food I ever had last night. I’m gonna take him
Over to the Salton Sea this morning, then on to my buddy Jim’s for Christmas dinner today. I’m a pretty empty guy, this is the best one in a while. Didn’t have to be the broken widower everybody wants to buck up. Which is nice.

Yes. We did get what we wanted.

I decided that I wasn't going to stress out about buying gifts for my husband and that he should NOT buy me any gifts either. At our age, we have just about everything we need. When, in the past, searching for something for each other, it usually turned out to be something that we just didn't want, need or use.

Waste of time and energy. This year: He picked out a retro looking radio and new speakers for his 1969 C2500 flat bed truck. It still had the original radio! I would have no idea how to pick one out. I got a new computer with a gaming keyboard and mouse. He would have zero idea on what specs I needed in a computer.

Bought a bottle of Black Label scotch, a prime rib roast and made a nice dinner for ourselves. Watched John Wick, not your traditional Christmas movie, but we had never seen it :-D Sat back and admired our tree.

We are both happy.

That's why Christmas presents are for children. Once that joy in a banana spirit is lost, there should be no more presents.

America's Politico did.....he wants to give you Elizabeth Warren.

We made Korean BBQ, drank wine and played Crimes Against Humanity with my MIL, stepson and next door neighbor (whose husband is in Iraq).

The game was hilarious although a bit much for my prudish stepson and MIL.

I wonder if Elizabeth Warren got a new pair of black pants for Christmas.

Thanks for running the place for 15 years!

Merry Christmas, to Ann, Meade, and commenters! I'm grateful for this blog and the community which has developed here. My office always has CNN on in the entrance lobby, and numerous liberals and socialists at my work place never shut up, so I frequently come here to avoid losing my mind. Thank you for all the great discussions on so many topics (political and otherwise). As Bork said of the Supreme Court, it is an intellectual feast. Have a blessed day!

My favorite Christmas song (but those for whom Christmas is not a holiday will still enjoy the music):

If Raj gets his wish, and Warren is elected next year, I'm moving to Venezuela. It won't be difficult, since with her in charge, I won't have to leave my neighborhood to be in Venezuela......

Warren's polling percentages have been steadily falling. Very few people like a fake Indian with only one pair of black pants.

I put oranges in my kids' stockings. And nuts. Because my siblings and I got nuts and an orange in our stockings growing up.

I said one recent summer that pecans taste like Christmas and my brother said that oranges taste like Christmas to him, since that was the only time we ever saw them.
