What's with the double use of "manicured"? Are we to think of something like this (SFW!)?

I sometimes see women with elaborate floral decorations on their fingernails. I'm struck by the artistry that goes into it. I can't really say the women themselves are more attractive for it, but the sheer excess of having Sistine Chapel quality artwork reproduced on their fingernails is stunning. Is this trend localized in NYC or are artists throughout the land developing this new genre? Are there any men who have a fetish for elaborate fingernais?
