Good fiction blogging would involve several fictional characters, each with their own blog, linking to each other, discussing various fictional events in their lives, perhaps along with interesting other commentary on real world events. It would have to go on for years, like a comic strip that you read daily, and would contain thousands of entries.Such tiny grandiosity, 22 years ago.

The future, as envisioned in the past.
I'm just stumbling into the idea of "Blog fiction" I had back in 2004:

The heron isn't real?
Ouroboros?
I like the concept. It had promise, if not for our shrinking attention spans.
Isn't this just a description of the entire internet especially TikTok and Instagram?
People always think the future will be a small variation on the present. But as patrick henry said "I have no way of judging the future, except by the past".
Who foresaw Trump's election in 2016 before he came down that escalator? How many knew the market was about to blow up 2008? I didn't see the Ukraine-Russia war coming in 2021. Did you?
Instead of an epistolatory novel, it could be called an "epostolatory novel."
I've read a few books that are assembled like that. Multiple sections addressing viewpoints of various characters. I'm not sure I could follow several blogs addressing the same subjuect at the same time.
…who could have predicted nobody wanted to pay $29.99/mo to hear about the crazy dream you had last night?
I was considering briefly after I drove by a place called “Car Bar” in Atlanta. What will the generation growing up now look back with nostalgia about, when the main driver of content now is mostly nostalgic already?
For Brain Rot to be nostalgic there has to be something different, if not better, or God forbid, worse
There have already been novels told in a series of emails. Would an endless novel really be a novel? You'd have to keep introducing new characters and new intrigues or you'd just be boring people. Otherwise, just find a way to wind the thing up.
Remember the movie with Emma Thompson as a novelist writing Will Ferrell's life? You could turn this blog into a novel, if you dared to speculate about what we were doing offline and supplemented the blog with off-blog plot lines. You could also manipulate the articles offered up for comments so that they cast an ironic or ominous light on our off-blog escapades.
Large grandiosity the size of tiny grandiosity...

Please use the comments forum to respond to the post. Don't fight with each other. Be substantive... or interesting... or funny. Comments should go up immediately... unless you're commenting on a post older than 4 days. Then you have to wait for us to moderate you through. It's also possible to get shunted into spam by the machine. We try to keep an eye on that and release the miscaught good stuff. We do delete some comments, but not for viewpoint... for bad faith. Also: No italics, even briefly. Use asterisks for emphasis. And don't play with the format by changing fonts or using boldface or all caps. Never include more than one extra line break between paragraphs.
