Isn't the WNBA trying to build its audience?

That's my question as I'm reading "Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries skip national anthem for third straight WNBA Finals game/The Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries jogged off the court before the anthem in all three games of the series" (Fox News).

There is no room in the WNBA for people like Pat Murphy.

LOL!

The WNBA is run by women. Nasty leftist thug women.

It is not run by people trying to grow an audience or build a system.

I want to get mad, but it's literally the WNBA. Does anybody care? It's like getting mad about the Cracker Barrel logo. Who cares?

I watch Clay Travis and I just shake my head. The WNBA is about 80 percent blacks. Black women on of the most leftwing, Democrat groups in the USA, they voted against Trump 90 percent.

If there's on thing they aren't - its "America First".

And they don't have an audience. They have a 11 year contract which brings in $220 million a year. Their rinky dink gyms they play in sell out. The NBA covers their operating costs. The players arent going to get much more $$ by "Building an audience".

Plus, the Current WNBA audience doesn't really care that they bully the white girl, or don't stand for the national anthem. They just want to see giant black lesbians put the ball through the hoop.

The WNBA is the Angie Nixon of professional sport.

It may seem like I like this quote, but I hate that it fits so much, because a lot of things would be better if it didn't.

"... I take away reason and accountability".

If you're going to get upset at the WNBA for blowing off the national anthem, that sort of anti-american lack of patriotism, pales in comparison to our "leaders" in DC who support Amnesty, open borders, and refusing to enforce the immigration laws. Many of them don't mind foreigners voting in USA elections.

Why stand for the anthem, when USA citizenship is meaningless.

bagoh20 said...

The problem with having leftist run any organization is that the purpose of the organization becomes an afterthought, if a thought at all.

Aggie said...

Let's talk about something more important that impacts all of us, like the ethanol subsidy.

RCOCEAN II said...

Bernie (Fake-VT) is a perfect example. Mad as hell that ICE is enforcing the immigration laws. Loves Amnesty. Hates anyone trying to stop foreigners from voting in our elections.

He doesnt care about the USA's borders, but he does care about Ukraine's. He wants to give them another $200 Billion. Why help poor Americans when you can give Zelensky money to kill people? But that why he's the peoples champion.

When all the black NFL players were refusing to stand for the national anthem or demanding they also play "the black national anthem" during the 1st trump administration, the NBA players stayed out of it. Remember that? And Kapernick?

It could be they were just smarter. Or maybe since you're on the basketball court already its no big deal to stand for 2 minutes. Plus, the fans are right there, up close and personal. They probably didn't want to be booed and showered with abuse.

Was there really any problem with Tiger Woods getting into the PGA, as he implies. I don't remember that. I thought he welcomed and celebrated. He wasn't the first Asian to win a major championship.

Yesterday the WNBA rejected Enes Kanter's claim, declaring him "a man". There's an upside to this. Perhaps in being unable to define what a woman is, the definition can be found - through process of elimination - for what a woman is not.

We now have definitive proof that simply claiming to be transgender does not automatically qualify womanhood.

Thank you Will Never Be A woman league for clearing this one up. We have several additional candidates forthcoming for you to refuse, providing further clarification of the most important question of our time - what is a woman?

Thank you for your cervix!

Based on the officiating in the in the game where the Indiana Fever was eliminated, I would say that professional women’s basketball is not a true sport — it is the 21st century equivalent of pro wrestling in the days of Gorgeous George. The refs are made aware of such team is supposed to win and they make it happen.

The WNBA players and many of the spectators present see standing for the U.S. national anthem as a degrading humiliation ritual, and they want no part of it. You cannot impose traditional American values and customs on the WNBA players and their fan base, especially after decades of anti-white and anti-American indoctrination through a flawed educational system. To be honest, the best approach is to move on and let this sideshow burn through the capital of the sportsball oligarchs.

I watched a few minutes of it once. I can’t believe they actually have an audience. I suspect their “fans” are mostly CGI.

The sports media always has to act like blacks - in a sport where they don't dominate - are pushing against invisible racists forces.

There was pushback against Tiger when he first burst onto the scence. But that was because Tiger was young and full of beans and broke some of the unbroken rules of the PGA. Like swearing like a sailor in front of the crowd.

After a while, he started to behave like a champion. And he's now the grand old man of Golf.

RCOCEAN II said...

The sportswriters went nuts when Tiger started winning in the 90s. Take that white men! Finally, Golf gets a Jackie Robinson. A 1990s muhammad Ali that will push leftism and talk about the racism in Golf.

Then the Press became sad. Tiger regarded himself as a racial mix, more asian then black. And he was the son of Vietnam Vet and quite patriotic.

A ball game is not a patriotic event. The anthem is there historically to get the crowd to shut up and pay attention and stop milling around. It was enforced by self-appointed patriots.

Same as flag salutes and Bible readings at the start of the school day.

rhhardin said...

The general rule is: if it's on display, it's not patriotism.

Mostly, WNBA bimbos are just confirming suspicions that they are a bunch of whiny ingrates. OTOH, despite the potential financial benefits they understand that people are paying to watch Clark kick their asses.

imagine getting paid TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars (a year) to play a kid's game..
THEN, some white girl shows up, and SUDDENLY; actual people are watching you play.. and PAYING MONEY to do so..

obviously, that would be unbareable; and you'd HAVE TO get rid of her.
right?

"Now that the Indiana Fever has been eliminated the ratings plug has been pulled for the WNBA. This not an altogether bad thing either. The gay race communists, their athletes, stupes, lackeys, and some sports ball oligarchs may take hit but so what?

Lazarus said...

Give the Golden State Valkyries a soundtrack by Richard Wagner and a halftime show put on by the San Francisco Opera and they might attract a whole new demographic.

Lazarus said...

Would alienating the Caitlin Clark fans be more damaging than losing the Sophie Whatshername fans? That seems like a bigger worry - at least so far as the male demographic is concerned.

Rh needs to wake up. Its not 1975 anymore. The people with power agree with you. You can burn the US flag. You piss on the US flag. you can cuss the USA down one way and up the other. You can demand foreigners vote. You can demand foreigners can invade the country and stay as long as they please.

And the people with power will applaud.

Of course, you'd better not attack Israel, or burn the Israeli flag. 'Cause that's different.

RCOCEAN II said...

Nobody is patriotic anymore. And if they are, they're Israeli patriots. Look at Huckabee and 1/2 our Congress. Man, they fly israeli flags, cry when and endlessly give standing O' to their leader, Netenyahu, and will wring your neck if don't want to "stand by Israel and fight for its right to exist".

But the USA? Whatever. We're just a place to make money.

The story is wrong. The WNBA regulations do state that the teams should stand in a respectful posture during the Anthem but that policy requirement was suspended several years ago. There are some indications that the WNBA has adopted a policy similar to the official policy of the NFL which is essentially either Stand or Sit in the locker room, as some WNBA players have been ejected for kneeling during the Anthem.

On the broader topic of enforcement, there is no federal law that requires the Anthem be played, and only a limited number of states or localities have passed such ordinances.

Basically, the professional sportsball organizations don't have balls (literally in one case) to just dispense with playing the Anthem even though there's nothing that says they have to continue to do it. So we all get treated to this disrespectful bullshit.

RCOCEAN II said...

Jim is correct. I was thinking of the Kapernick nonsense. But during the 2020 BLM crap NBA players were refusing to particpate in the national anthem. Per Grok

"During the 2020 NBA "Bubble" restart in Orlando, Florida, the vast majority of NBA players and coaches did refuse to stand for the national anthem.

Instead of standing, players and coaches collectively chose to kneel and lock arms during "The Star-Spangled Banner".

However, they did not refuse to attend the anthem ceremony. They remained on the court, lining up along the baseline to execute the demonstration as a unified group."

Its says a lot about black people that their number 1 motivator is someone being mean to crooks.

The enforcement I meant was by self-appointed patriots in the crowd, here the outrage on the internet, for example. As if it were actual patriotism to stand for the anthem.

The players and I are on different sides - I claim it's a self-deluding convention and they think it's real patriotism and they want to rebuff it. My complaint is about the outrage, rather than the players' point of view.

If it's on display, it's not patriotism. Try to think of a form of patriotism that isn't displayed, and then think of the difference.

I watched one game for about a half an hour. There were a couple of competent plays, but also some outstandingly lame ones and nothing that had a Wow factor like you see with men There are a couple of exceptions but the girls aren't that hot and the uniforms don't do anything for them......It's not such a great product. Maybe they can sell a few more tickets with Caitlin Clark or make it racist rollerball, but it's just not very interesting to watch.
