"Man, that Fanta tastes fantastic."

That non-drinking is not because he's underage. He's young but not that young. 22.

Pratt says he couldn't find "sparkling cider" — that's the classic Mormon substitute for champagne.

…so was it Fanta or Jarritos? Not same, Utah…

Alcohol is poison. There is no good reason to drink it.

The social pressure to demonstrate tribal/team loyalty is always there. You always need to have a substitute demonstration handy when you turn down the alcohol.

You can find sparking cider at a grocery store! And every liquor store carries it, too! Brewers failed here!

I don't get the celebrating and the champagne for winning a bracket of a tournament that is halfway finished. They haven't even won the pennant and they're going off like World Champions.

…yah, it seems premature. I’ve noticed the teams that celebrate the most tend to be the teams that don’t win it all. Then again I’m from the golden era of Boston sports, so I’ve seen a bunch if duck boat parades…we’ll see with this crew…

I’m anticipating Aggie weighing in with his Weirdnessometer on this young Mormon fellow.

Sparkling cider is the preferred refreshment of adults and for children who drink but do not imbibe lest they lose their dignity under chemical influence.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of premature celebration.

This is akin to a celebration for graduating middle shool. Cant we wait till the Divisional playoffs at least?

Baseball is getting as bad as the NBA. They play for 6 months and then let 16 of the 30 teams into the playoffs. Which then last till Mid June. Two fucking months.

Baseball is now stretching the world series till October 31. Hope the weather in Milwaulkee will be OK then.

Yep. And that goes both ways because, as everyone knows—steel sharpens steel.

Sparking cider is good! And usually I save it for big meals/holdiays, it's true.

This reminds me of the time I was in a patent law firm in SLC. One day, the managing partners announced that two guys had just been made partners. Everyone in the office, from the runners, to the sr partners stuffed ourselves in the conference room. And trays were passed around, some with champagne, some with cider. Everyone staked out their allegiances. I rarely drink champagne, bud did so that day.

I hope meade doesn't hate me, but i will rooting for the Dodgers. I admire Ohtani. He's the greatest player since Babe Ruth. But if he goes back on the injured reserve, I will root for the Brewers.

On the few occasions that I've encountered former pro athletes in an adult competive context, I've been impressed with how much of an advantage it is to have 99.9 percentile athletic ability. I am amazed that anyone can hit a 100mph pitch. Also, if you watch the ballplayers warming up, you can see how easily and accurately they throw the ball.
