"It’s directional more than wearable."

Says NYT fashion reporter, Jacob Gallagher, quoting himself, in this article he writes: "Is Anyone Really Wearing a Bra as a Shirt? A trend that points nowhere" (NYT).

If it "points nowhere," how is it directional?

I think it's funny to talk of bras as pointing somewhere, given that some, but not all, bras are pointy.

Gallagher explains his position: "It expresses something, primarily, about how thin the models are. You look at these outfits and your only real takeaway is 'Well, gee, she’s skinny.' It’s doing that thing fashion often does — making us think about our own bodies and how they differ by comparison...."

So fashion is speaking to you, and what it's saying is you can't wear this. It's like a shopkeeper telling you you can't buy this mechanical bird. It's aggravating.

'Points to nowhere' ? ? I beg to differ, although it depends on the bra.

In the 1950s bras really did point.

I know a telescope distributor who only sells to people he likes. Fortunately, he like me.

One would think that bras should/would be modeled by women who had some use for them.

Skinny model? Wouldn’t the question then be is anyone wearing a shirt as a bra? Not that shirts have the support, but if you don’t have anything that needs support.

I have to be careful what I say here because I am hiding from the fashion police. I did burn my bra outside on the front lawn - bonfire style... hoping the smoke signal would appease the experts.

Eyes down here. Misogyny, obviously. This is why walk like a slut was not a viable movement.

The missile nose cone shape was popular in the 50s.

Imagine removing one of those pointy bras and the breasts actually were that shape. Many young men in the 50's must have been startled. It clearly did dissuade my dad.

To me the pointy bras are inexorably linked to Madonna's 'Truth or Dare'.

The good ones point nowhere, but support the pointing of others.

It's pointing to the general direction of the void. Kinda like Route 50 in Nevada.
