"In fact, it was Mr. Vance’s unscripted response to the protester, who unfurled Mexican and Palestinian flags, that appeared to most energize the crowd. 'My friend, if you love Mexico so much, get your ass over there,' the vice president said, sending the crowd roaring. 'I’ll buy you the plane ticket.'"

Emigration reform.
The Hillbilly VP provides a sharp contrast here, giving a speech about making America great while democrats like Kamala was are for they/them. We fight under the US flag. The democrats wave Palestinian and Mexican flags.
Choose accordingly.
I would have preferred he offer them a ticket to Palestine. Mexico, for all its problems, is a real country operating within the established order. It's also a border country with which the US has generally good relations.
We'll put a boot in yer ass... it's the american way

So many elephants in this room.
A common symptom of insanity is believing that everybody else is crazy. Both Trump and Vance are far more comfortable raising fear of Democratic alternative than discussing their own policies, including Iran war.
I think it's a bit late. We all see Trumpism now.
The "land of the free and the home of the brave" has 'secret police' running around the streets in masks detaining, assaulting and killing people.
You can't drawdown from that.
2nd tim maguire. He brought 2 flags, so he proverbial provided a choice. Hold him to the lesser of the two.

Indeed.
Ok lets talk about 2028. Because...why? Does the NYT's want to change the subject?
I NYT to tell me how to think . LOL
Never.
Vance runs on principle, meaning he doesn't listen. Trump takes into account the effects of a principle and modifies it accordingly.
As Lautreamont said, it is ridiculous to defend first principles.
Come on J.D.--open your wallet a bit deeper and buy the guy a ticket to Palestine!
All major speeches are "scripted." The variance is in how much the speaker deviates from the script.
I guess the R’s are starting to grasp that in 27 months Trump and MAGA are permanently gone and that they’d better get going on a new approach led by new people not named Trump. Some of them anyhow. It’s amazing to me that so many of DJTs policies are 80/20 issues that should make him and them popular, but DJT’s political indolence, self absorption and obnoxious personality all prevent that from being the case. JD Vance seems like he gets this.
I like Vance, but the Florida guys are better choices as of now.
"It’s amazing to me that so many of DJTs policies are 80/20 issues that should make him and them popular, but DJT’s political indolence, self absorption and obnoxious personality all prevent that from being the case."
Gee, I wonder why nobody else came up with the brilliant strategy of taking the 80/20 issues, bringing them to the forefront and doing something about them. It's so simple.
(This is sarcasm, Deep State. If you think what Trump has done and is doing is easy, you haven't been paying attention).
I detect a distinct lack of enthusiasm.
Don't you think Trump will ultimately endorse one of his kids to be the nominee (likely Ivanka if she wants it) over Vance or Rubio?
He might. Just to piss you off, D.D.!
Vance ane his audience recognized that the ticket to Mexico was as joke. A ticket to Palestine would have stirred up too much controversy.
Relentless opportunist. Wrote his book, which is an admirable thing; but no other achievements of any sort except for managing to rub elbows with the right people. A year here, a year there; stuck at nothing. Condemned Trump first, then fawned over him. Not Presidential timber; in fact, a classic Yale Law AH, in my book. President Rubio should make him head of HHS, tell him to cut the budget 20% and move the headquarters to Kentucky. Maybe that would get something real out of him.
Ha - The negative comparisons of Vance to Trump have begun. In 3-4 years the NYT will be positively nostalgic for the good old days of Trump compared to Vance or whoever the next GOP-hitler happens to be
If Vance is the nominee, I'll vote for him. But not until then.
Skeptical Voter: “ Come on J.D.--open your wallet a bit deeper and buy the guy a ticket to Palestine!”
've got a surprise especially for you
Something that both of us have always wanted to do
We've waited so long, waited so long
We've waited so long, waited so long
I’m gonna send you on a trip so far from here,
I got a ticket in my pocket so why don’t you disappear?
Waited so long….
Waited so long…
Waited so loooong…
Waited so long.
I got one ticket to Palestine!
Won’t you pack your bags and leave tonight?
I got one ticket to Palestine!
I got one ticket…

Saudi Arabia Shuts Down Pipeline That Was a Crucial Hormuz Bypass ~ WSJ

I, for one, am somewhat tired of all the winning. Sheer incompetence is beyond belief. It’s hilarious how many people seriously suggested pipelines by-passing Hormuz would be a solution when all those pipelines are within missile range.
Hey IEEE, are you proud of your full support of AOC and Mamdani who were laughing their heads off at the names of the dead 9-11 people? That's your side, you know.
Trump has overplayed his hand, can’t accept his weakened negotiating position, and now he can’t back down. Suffice to say, the Strait of Hormuz was open before Trump decided to launch his unprovoked war of choice, at the behest of Netanyahu.
IEE -- Yes, the strait was open, but the price was Iranian support of Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Houthis in Yemen, plus bomb building under a mountain and missiles for Putin. This is better.
Around 30–37% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the Iran war, with the most recent major polls in the low 30s; majorities disapprove.
I will admit that Vance told less lies than Trump.
