🚨 Elon Musk just NUKED this reporter to her face in a MASTERCLASS
— Eric Daugherty (@EricLDaugh) July 23, 2026
"People loathe you!"
ELON: "I don't care. The fact that a quarter billion people follow me means a lot more people like me than don't."
"I think a lot more people hate YOU and the MEDIA than you realize!"

I’m no Elon Musk, but I don’t care what the NE Dems and Greens think about me. I will continue to fight wind and solar. I will continue to fight Dem policy insanity.
Fight! Fight! Fight!
Elon gives me a boner. and I don't even have one.
Media (D) - WE HATE YOU.
Ultimate Sigma. The female mind has a hard time dealing with the idea of an ego that doesn't require social approval to survive.
That arrogant loathsome media hack - Does she have any concern for the corrupt influences from the Soros family?
Of course not - Soros is dutifully leftist.
What about all the foundations that are now leftist?
Does that hack care? All the major foundations - billionaire foundations - support corrupt DEI BS, woke BS, and general corrosive leftism.
Is this a reporter doing an interview or an advocate with an ax to grind?
Just so...
This is also called flipping the tables.
All GOP - R's + Independents + non-leftists, should GO on these hack shows just to tell these a-hole leftists how much we loathe them.
Wanting to be liked has fucked up so many people over the years.
And yet... https://instapundit.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/IMG_3738-465x600.jpeg
He's right, you know.
Musk's crime was to turn over the rock with Doge. Elites will not forgive him for that, and they are still scrambling to get that untraceable money back into the washing machines at the same levels. Trump did some good things early in this term, then they gained control of him, and here we are.
…from the messiah saving the planet yo the devil exposing the fraud schemes of their political party. It reveals how broken and intellectually bankrupt all those people are. More than you realize…
The most accomplished man in history is supposed to change because you are jealous and greedy? Possibly the oldest human disease and why the 10 Commandments were given.
Hatred is ugly. It sounds better in German.
I think he *understands* perfectly well. It's the *care*, or maybe more properly his emotional control that enables him to avoid reacting in a way that feeds their narrative in the face of the hate, that upsets certain people.
I want to see an interview of Elon with Sydney Sweeney, doing a tag team on the reporter.
Hank Reardon must be destroyed because his work creates social disparities.
I own a 2023 full self-driving Tesla Model 3. A medical prosthesis that keeps an elder with declining vision and reflexes on the road, working and social active. Solely for this, I bless him. He’s also working on curing vision for the blind. Within a few years, Optimus robots will become common live-in aids for the homebound elderly, keeping them out of institutionalization. God bless Elon Musk.
The world's richest man should not be allowed to 'influence politics." That right is reserved for people who have only a few billion, and their media corporations.
That “arrogant media hack” (as someone characterized her above), one might note, is Editor-in-Chief at the Economist. What a maroon.
She was on CNBC this morning. I caught part of the interview. She feels that the interview went well and that she exposed for all the world to see Musk's flaws and imperfections.....In the CNBC interview, she mentioned what a terrible thing it was for Musk to air the Citizen Vigilante movie. She's of the opinion that things are going well in England and that Musk is exaggerating the few, small problems that England faces with Muslim immigration.. Nothing Musk will ever say or do will shake her self confidence in the superiority of her views and character to those of Musk..........I can't comment on Citizen Vigilante, but I note that some 250,000 young girls in England were raped, beaten, and trafficked and that these crimes were given minimal exposure in the media. And no movie or play will ever be made that dramatizes what happened to them. Prince Andrew has suffered far more opprobrium for his sins than those who participated in the Rotherham crimes. It's probably a hate crime for the girls to complain too vociferously about their assaults. Worse, really, than that young man who whined about being stabbed to death.
This reminds me of "Mad Men":
Reporter: "I feel bad for you"
Elon: "I don't think about you at all."
Musk went from saving the planet with his EV’s to a Hitler clone overnight. Graham Platnikov wasn’t paying attention.
Brings to mind Camille Paglia’s famous quote:
“If civilization had been left in female hands, we would still be living in grass huts.”
Elon Musk bought Twitter, opposed Joe Biden's censorship regime and exposed massive government manipulation to silence stories that hurt the Democratic Party. Of course, the media is going to hate him. So what?
I don't hate Musk; I'm interested in what he thinks and has to say. So I'll be watching the entire interview.
…The Economist was formerly a periodical dedicated to long form articles regarding economic subjects often written by economists and other professionals…
Given all Musk has generously produced for our entire planet, no one should ever ever begrudge him a voice in our politics or anything else, least of all a holier-than-thou beotch.
In case no one has understood this, Musk is not building things for the money, per se. That’s just the reward system he and we happen to be in. He’s over and over said he wants to help humans survive for a very very long time.
the clip is disturbing especially her arguments about Musk meddling. They persist in wanting to force unpopular policies on people and hope to win through manipulation and monopoly of political narratives- telling people how to think. Musk disrupts their political strategies and they don’t like it. Hoe about you fuckers abandon the policies designed to destroy western civilization and adopt popular policies? Way easier than what you’re trying to accomplish..
IF *you* had to choose, between Elon, or her..
which would *YOU* choose?
Peachy +2 said all I have to say.
Except that at this point it is clear, the media still do not grasp how much they are loathed in all corners of the Western world.
Musk deftly wields the clue by four.
Everyone she knows hates Musk. (Pauline Kael reference.)
She's the essence of Smug Leftist.
@Shouting Thomas, I think Paglia’s right.
which would *YOU* choose?
Her: Shoes match pants
Him: Builds rockets
The choice is clear.
Tesla Sheds $214.5 Billion in Market Cap at Close, Worst One-Day Loss On Record ~ WSJ
Tesla's trailing P/E was 341 before this report and its forward P/E was 174.
Safe to say Tesla will never grow to justify these valuations. The emission credits are gone, competition is cut-throat, and the company has lost its tech advantage. Net margins will forever be low single digits like every other major automaker. Toyota has better financials across the board and has a 11x forward p/e. Even BYD has a trailing P/E of 25.
My guess is that at some point Tesla will either spin off or sell the EV business to another automaker and focus on other things.
SpaceX stock got cut in half after joining an industry sell-off already underway ~ Yahoo finance
There's One Billion reasons why it's not a buy. Aug 6, the lockout of 1,000,000,000 expires. That's more than the existing float. If you bought SpaceX at $225 and sold it a month later at $124 despite no significant new information, you have to admit you have no idea what you're doing.... The sheep have been sheared.
Morningstar, for example, valued the SpaceX shares at $63. All you need to know.
To the bone, Elon!
I had a subscription to The Economist decades ago. After several years of consuming their far left agitprop, I stopped sending them my money.
Let the ankle-biting Pomeranians of the press do their worst.
Oh noes!
I own a 2023 full self-driving Tesla Model 3.
No you don't. And if you think you do you shouldn't be on the road.
Re: SpaceX -- I can't imagine buying this paper at such a small premium. Who in their right mind thought this was a good buy?
I didn't get the sense that this was a cutthroat journalist conducting an evisceration of Elon. I'm not familiar with her, haven't seen her before. She brought up the state of affairs in Elon's public face, e.g. discussing those who hate him, but it didn't seem like she was digging the knife in, particularly. And it didn't really seem as if Elon was offended by the questions. In fairness, I wonder if she was simply teeing up these issues so that Elon could work out on them.
"but I note that some 250,000 young girls in England were raped, beaten, and trafficked and that these crimes were given minimal exposure in the media."
Where do you get these bullshit numbers? The entire population of South Yorkshire is 1.5 million. On the thread about the police shooting someone also claimed that 35,000 people died because of the demonstrations resulting from the deaths of Michael Brown and George Floyd.
If you are going to spew bullshit, at least make up numbers that are believable.
“No you don't. And if you think you do you shouldn't be on the road.”
Yes, I do. FSD is turned on +90% of the time and it works… far better than a human driver. It’s going to work out the opposite from how you envision. Manual driving will slowly be outlawed, and FSD and autonomous vehicles will be the only vehicles allowed. Autonomous Robotaxis are now working in Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando andTampa. Car ownership itself will slowly dwindle away as people realize that they can rely on ride hailing at 25% of the price of ownership, or lower.
"The entire population of South Yorkshire" has nothing to do with the number of young girls in England who were raped. It happened all over England and Scotland, and (I'm pretty sure) Wales and Northern Ireland. The original poster should have written "Britain" rather than "England", but the number is widely agreed, and even seems to be admitted by British authorities. Try to keep up.
'...If you are going to spew bullsh*t, at least make up numbers that are believable. ...'
Freder this is stupid and lazy, even for someone on your level of bad faith.
https://www.therapereport.co.uk/read
'....The scale of the crimes committed is staggering. It has been previously established that, at the very least, 250,000 young white girls have been subjected to repeated rape, gang rape, trafficking, torture, pregnancy, forced Islamic conversion, and lifelong trauma....'
And that statement is given its own footnote, in the report. Took me 3 seconds to find it.
Yes, I do.
You forgot the "(Supervised)" part. Which makes the claim of "Full Self Driving (Supervised)" an oxymoron.
@Fredo, he’s getting those numbers from the Lowe Report, which discovered that the police ignoring rapes of white working class *underage* girls by Muslims out of fear of being labeled “racist” is a long-standing phenomenon. The earliest cases date back to the 1950s. I found the Lowe Report to be stomach-turning to read, but I can picture you masturbating while reading it.
“You forgot the "(Supervised)" part. Which makes the claim of "Full Self Driving (Supervised)" an oxymoron.”
The “supervised” part is a concession to liberal regulators, not a reality. I have a routine one hour commute every week to a church client. I don’t have to touch the wheel. The over the rear-view mirror camera constantly checks for visual engagement with the road, but the hand on the wheel thing is voluntary, so long as you keep your eyes on the road. Is that a burden? Yes, but it is one that is removed in Waymo or Robotaxi.
"And that statement is given its own footnote, in the report. Took me 3 seconds to find it."
Some upper class twit saying it in The House of Lords doesn't mean it isn't bullshit.
"Is this a reporter doing an interview or an advocate with an ax to grind?"
There really aren't many reporters anymore, so...
The liberal white female reporter comes across as smug, condescending and arrogant. Typical puke. Elon, who is changing the world, doesn't seem arrogant and full of himself. I love how he has fuck you money, and can just call her out when she is full of shit.
"The “supervised” part is a concession to liberal regulators, not a reality."
Do you routinely ignore laws and regulations that you decide are too burdensome? Then of course, you demand that people follow police instructions, no matter how unreasonable, and if they don't they deserve to be shot.
"Elon, who is changing the world, doesn't seem arrogant and full of himself. "
Are you fucking serious? He wants to populate the world with his seed.
Throughout the interview she keeps saying "I think.... I think." You know what lady? Nobody gives a shit what you think. Elon on the other had, and least has some amazing accomplishments to back up his opinions. The imbalance in the intelligence level between these two is off the charts. She is just to smarmy to realize she is stupid, and unoriginal.
“Do you routinely ignore laws and regulations that you decide are too burdensome? Then of course, you demand that people follow police instructions, no matter how unreasonable, and if they don't they deserve to be shot.”
This is Dilbert level hyperventilating. You’ve really outdone yourself here. Congratulations.
Freder, your "(supervised)" call-out is picking nits. Shooting Things is 100% correct that increasingly autonomous cars are a "mobility prosthetic" for drivers whose reflexes and vision are not what they used to be - drivers who are currently driving, regardless. My parents and in-laws are among them (according to my husband, his mom should have been off the road in the 30s).
Even just the proximity sensors, lane sensors, and adaptive cruise in our Explorer have made our very long road trip, since last September, both safer and easier for us. Why would you wobble about this?
And, the victimization of 250,000 girls and young women by mostly Pakistani men in Britain has taken place over two-plus decades, abetted by police organizations that, at best, didn't want to incite "unrest" among the "Asian" populations in their jurisdiction (or be called racists by progressives), and, at worst, reportedly joined in. How did you miss that story?
Freder Frederson said...
"He wants to populate the world with his seed."
See. Same typical liberal bullshit hyperbole. I can't imagine living a life where it is so easy to lie like this and actually believe it.
'...Some upper class twit saying it in The House of Lords doesn't mean it isn't bullshit...'
I take it back, Freder. You're lazy and stupid in good faith.
Freder F. (10:10am):
The fact that the person who said it is "upper class" is no evidence at all that the statement is "bullshit".
The fact that the 250,000 rapes are reported from all over Britain, and you pretended that they were all in South Yorkshire, which would have made the number statistically implausible, was worse than bullshit, it was an idiotic error. The fact that you refuse to correct your mistake, or even admit it, means that it is now a bald-faced lie.
It's because he's African-American, a Person of Color (i.e. not albino), a non-DEIst, right?
"I take it back, Freder. You're lazy and stupid in good faith."
You pointed out that the claim "was given its own footnote". Did you bother to read the footnote. It was taken from a statement made in the House of Lords, which consists entirely of upper middle class twits, and inbred royalty. It is the most useless legislature in the entire world.
I think that Elon having vast amount of kids is cool -- many would have their father's intellect -- he is obviously the smartest man alive whose ideas come to fruition.
That "reporter"? Just look at her open-toed wedges and then try to take her seriously in a interview. The credibility lost by dressing in that manner for a formal interview would only be matched by a male reporter in shorts. Right, Althouse? (On the shorts thing, not the shoes)
"The fact that the 250,000 rapes are reported from all over Britain, and you pretended that they were all in South Yorkshire, which would have made the number statistically implausible"
And the "fact" that 250,000 is more than 2% of the entire population of under 18 girls doesn't make the number statistically implausible?
"Re: SpaceX -- I can't imagine buying this paper at such a small premium. Who in their right mind thought this was a good buy?"
Institutional investors and retail betas. Smart retail alphas are waiting for a $80-$100 50-day SMA to reallocate on volume as a long-term hold in their portfolios.
Me luv SPCX long time.
“Car ownership itself will slowly dwindle away as people realize that they can rely on ride hailing at 25% of the price of ownership, or lower.“
While this seems to be the trend, the last thing I’d want to do is get in a vehicle full of god knows what germ and filth. And I’m certainly not going to spend my time cleaning any vehicle before I take it for a 30 min ride somewhere. I think ownership will fall off very slowly…
Freder doesn't think it was really 'rape-rape'. Except in the case of that guy living rent-free both in the White House and in Freder's pointy little head.
"Me luv SPCX long time."
Explain how it is going to be profitable in your lifetime.
Whatever the number of rapes, it's clear the British government thinks it's not enough.
It's like voter fraud. The right argues that it's wrong and should be prevented and the left argues it's not enough to worry about, which apparently takes a large number.
I left my credit card on the bar, and when I came back it was still there, so now that's where I keep it all the time.
"Explain how it is going to be profitable in your lifetime."
It's like Social Security, and everybody loves that.
*** You forgot the "(Supervised)" part. Which makes the claim of "Full Self Driving (Supervised)" an oxymoron. ****
There's not many things more ludicrous than the sour sneers at Musk's intellect and accomplishments coming from the mouths of barmaids and bicycle messengers with $50 in the bank and $250,000 in student loans.
I think that Elon having vast amount of kids is cool
Perhaps 0.5% of the world’s male population traces descent from Genghis Khan. The DNA evidence is not definitive, but whatever, Elon has a long ways to go to match that record. He is in the Isaac Singer class, Singer had 26 children.
Explain how it is going to be profitable in your lifetime.
Putting solar powered data centers and ever more capable versions of Starlink in orbit. Deliciously, the Left's moral panic about data centers and AI is going to drive business straight into Musk's arms.
"It's like Social Security, and everybody loves that."
Social Security isn't meant to make a profit
Freder Frederson shows his gross ignorance of what has been happening in the UK for decades now. That 2% of under-18 girls have been gang-raped by Pakistani Muslim gangs who think infidel girls are fair game is not "implausible", it's horrifying, and it's true. And 250,000 is the minimum estimate.
Here's one little clue on how it happened, and is still happening, a story (link) from last month on a Muslim who raped 30 girls, some as young as 13, one over the course of 10 years, along with 8 of his friends. Was he executed? Is he doing life without parole? No, he was sentenced to 22 and 19 years concurrently, and is out after only 14, and the UK can't even deport him to Pakistan. Since he's 73, he is almost certainly living off government retirement checks.
There are dozens and dozens of such stories, and in many the rapists go free, and the police often join in the rapes. You have to be a damned ostrich not to know this. Denying the Muslim rape epidemic in the UK is as idiotic and evil as denying the Holocaust.
“While this seems to be the trend, the last thing I’d want to do is get in a vehicle full of god knows what germ and filth. And I’m certainly not going to spend my time cleaning any vehicle before I take it for a 30 min ride somewhere. I think ownership will fall off very slowly…”
If I were a homeowner in my mixed urban-rural area, with the usual two or three car garage, with one or two bays standing empty, I’d be thinking about buying 2 or 3 Robotaxis as soon as regulations allow their operation. Keep them clean and well maintained and rent them out by the ride. My area is heavily populated by the geriatric crowd that is only going to get older and less capable of driving. First in on this will make a killing.
Yes, we all hate the media.
We're all Nixonmaxxing now.

His 14 children come from female hypergamy. Females are funny that way. They formally condemn men who have serial children with different women while lining up to have children with those same men..
According to DNA analysis, there are a lot more men in world history who have never had children then women. And it's women's groups that fight the idea of mandatory DNA test for newborn infants to determine actual parentage.
"Me luv SPCX long time."
These low-ball price targets are ignoring the possibility that
SpaceX rockets could make contact with extraterrestrials, use AI to learn how to communicate with them, and get them all hooked on social media. The eyeball count on X will leap by orders of magnitude (especially if ETs have more than 2 eyeballs each). SpaceX is the only company that has all the technologies needed to make this happen.
This isn't even counting the upside from gigascale helium-3 moon mining. Few understand how vertically integrated things can truly get.
The madness will continue for as long as nobody bothers to read the research reports. As Charlie Munger -- God rest his soul -- might say, "I have nothing to add."
Freder's sources of news are limited.
We are doing him a service.
"Social Security isn't meant to make a profit."
That's why it's in dire straits.
#1 I'm in my mid-40s and in good health. My lifetime horizon is longer than a lot of other lifetime horizons.
#2 Change in the technological rate of change. The 'change α-lpha'. Coalescent technology horizons - including AI - over the course of the next 2 decades that will make seemingly impossible things possible. A perfect storm that will exponentially affect SPCX, but in a good way.
#3 The person that is Elon Musk. The "I will find a way" ENTJ. Elon has good intuition and judgement and the proven will to get things done.
#4 The growing importance of space in warfare and national defense. The next full scale global war will see the first exo-atmospheric kinetic and EW engagements. Depend upon it.
#5 The long-long-term need for new frontiers. The multi-century future need to begin exploring for off-planet resources and ability to exploit them both because A) Earth resources will increasingly become too expensive to exploit and B) colonial need to get all our sapient eggs out of one basket because if not, our likelihood of genuinely extirpating each other will continue to grow. I am pessimistic about a future humanity limited to Earth alone...at least Elon is among the few trying to do something about it.
It's amazing just how many people in the media don't realize that they are also in the 1%. A lot of these network anchors make millions each year. People also see that the media anchors are preachy, vain, privileged and not very smart. Put all that together and there's a lot to resent.
@Shouting Thomas:
According to Scott Adams, this is Elon’s plan - even for your own Tesla, if you choose to participate:
When your self-driving car (or one that will be fully autonomous) isn’t in use, you can rent it out through a Waymo-style robotaxi network.
This Economist reporter babe always has an unwarranted attitude of superiority and believes she has a monopoly on the Truth. She is "the mainstream" the reporter without labels and all her beliefs and assumptions are just common sense and reasonable
Everyone else is "far right" or "Far left" or weird or bad in some way. Good that Tucker and Elon have both pushed on back on that, but I wonder whats the point of giving her the air time and the clicks.
I suppose they reach the "economist audience" and get some publicity.
A stock that goes down is, like infinity, a paradoxical concept.
Musk seems to be able to bypass normal valuation metrics.
Half of finance is continually making up complete nonsense and the outcome is somehow never news, only the new “fever dream”.
This is the man Freder sneers at. For reasons passing understanding.
Freder threads strike me as even more inane than Inga threads.
"The next full scale global war will see the first exo-atmospheric kinetic and EW engagements. Depend upon it."
The next full scale global war is going to render near Earth orbit unusable going forward because of all the debris. Pray that it doesn't happen.
You’re like children watching professional-wrestling kayfabe and thinking it’s real. A journalist’s job is to get interesting people to say interesting things. Journalists often do that through provocation. Any competent public figure should be capable of parrying that provocation and communicating what they want to communicate. If not they belong in another line of work.
Of course all the concern about "One man having so much power and being so rich" is laughable. Where's the concern over Paul Singer or Miriam Addleson? Where's the concern over Soros and his son, or Ellison who now controls CNN and CBS and about 1/4 of all media products.
No, that's not a matter of concern. LOL. That's just normal and great for "Our Democracy".
Who cares what average Leftists think? They just follow the "party line" like sheep. Where is Feder when Gaza was being Genocided? AWOL, of course. No orders from central command to get involved so he says zero.
And he'll attack Musk because the liberal/left elite are attacking him. But he'll say nothing about Billionaires on his side. As if these Billionaries aren't trying to stop universal health care or things like NYC rent control.
Liberal/leftists when they aren't dumb rubes or robots are fakes.
Wham bam, thank you Ma'am! Elon handed her her hat--lucky her head wasn't in it.
I'm waiting for SPCX stock to dip below $100 (maybe even below $90) and buying. The SPCX IPO pattern happens with a lot of IPOs. Price will continue to go down as more shares are released.
The world is going to change quickly in the next three years with the AI and data center buildouts. Musk is right. It's inevitable and unstoppable. There are good money making AI opportunities in the stock market. SPCX will be a good buy, but below $100. Easy double in a year or two.
"Social Security isn't meant to make a profit"
Is it meant to go broke?
Like stocks, most people get back more than they put in, so where does that come from? Do they steal it from other people? At least stocks are voluntary.
Shouting Thomas:
I’m considering a Tesla for my next (probably last) car, though no regency yet. Quick question for you: How do you find its performance in terms of drop off, self-parking, and pickup? Thanks in advance
“ Social Security isn't meant to make a profit.”
Ponzi schemes aren’t designed to earn a profit. They suck in new “investors” to pay previous suckers …. er … investors.
Robotaxi Timeshare. <>. Viable Business Model?
“regency,” wth! “urgency” is what I thought I wrote.
I just purchased a Tesla about 6 months ago. I use FSD ALL of the time. I have to disengage to get it started backing into my driveway, it wants to pull in head first. It drives me everywhere, self parking. A few times it wants to navigate a way that I do not want to go. I just tell grok where I want to go and off we go. When I have had a few drinks it is safer. In fact I feel it is always safer. I don’t use summon. I love the car.
Deserving of the Althouse tag, " Some people say "....
Does anyone think Freder's silence for the last hour and more means that he's been busy Googling "UK rape gangs" and will be back soon saying "Wow! You guys were right! At least a quarter of a million British girls, many of them children, were gang-raped by Muslim gangs! In the future, I'll try to do my homework instead of saying stupid things."? Me neither.
I don’t use the summon function because I only have to walk a few steps to get into my car. The back up and parallel parking functions work great and are also a medical prosthesis for elders with limited flexibility. Only problem with the back up function is that other drivers get incredibly frustrated waiting and often don’t comprehend what you’re doing before they box you in.
"This is the man Freder sneers at."
So, I am supposed to be impressed by an unverifiable anecdote published on Social Media owned by Elon Musk? Musk has an undergraduate degree in Physics.
"Wow! You guys were right! At least a quarter of a million British girls, many of them children, were gang-raped by Muslim gangs!"
I did, and you still don't have any verifiable evidence to back up such outrageous bullshit. That is the problem with the internet, somebody pulls a number out of the air and it suddenly becomes a "fact".
So how many British girls have been raped by Pakistani gangs, Freder? What's your estimate? You say you researched the question: what did you conclude?
I just purchased a Tesla about 6 months ago. I use FSD ALL of the time.
Same here. I back out of the garage manually to have time to close the garage door, but for most things I can let the car drive itself without intervention. Navigation can be weird for some things, Tesla loves highways whereas I prefer back roads, but hopefully that will get better in the future. Parking is mixed, but has improved. I haven't used drop off or summon yet.
"The next full scale global war is going to render near Earth orbit unusable going forward because of all the debris. Pray that it doesn't happen."
It will. And Elon and people like him will find a way to clean it up. And then someone's gonna have to put everything back in orbit....
I find the whole thing hilarious. A nobody MSM news babe doesn’t Ike him, and he doesn’t care. You are supposed to care if the person that you are talking to you doesn’t like you. He doesn’t. Thats very Aspie. In the end, what matters in regards to popularity is how many followers he has, And there are few, if any, people in the world with more followers than Musk.
"The SPCX IPO pattern happens with a lot of IPOs. Price will continue to go down as more shares are released."
Nobody smart ever thinks an initial IPO price is supportable.
That's why it's called "Fuck you" money.
“Musk has an undergraduate degree in Physics.”
Credentialism at its most extreme. Clearly, Musk has no business launches satellites and rockets. Does he even have the appropriate permits?
Freder is really hitting on all cylinders today.
I don't loath Musk, but then I'm an engineer so I'm in no position to judge.
I do loath the DOGE episode. And, I loath the idea of billionaires controlling our political life. The problem with Musk is that he has stumbled and staggered his way into political life, far most than most of his ilk.
Also, "following" someone on Twitter, or whatever, does not even imply liking, or even non-loathing.
Freder Frederson said...
"Musk has an undergraduate degree in Physics."
This is the dumbest statement ever. As if Musk is defined by his stupid undergraduate degree, and not the amazing things he has built and accomplished in the last 20 years.
This is how liberals think. Your credentials from some bullshit liberal education institute defines you forever. And for libs, it entitles you to be arrogant and entitled.
It supports Nate Silver's conclusion that people with post-graduate degrees who are highly credentialed, and "privileged by education, but economically squeezed or disappointed relative to expectations" are the one's now voting for the lunatic Democrat Socialists / Communists.
They want the false promise some liberal professor or administrator sold them fulfilled. They want their student debt money's worth.
College degrees don't mean jack shit, and will continue to mean less going forward as AI progresses. Thank God.
“And, I loath the idea of billionaires controlling our political life.”
Musk isn’t controlling our political life. He’s transforming the basic infrastructure of our economy and society with autonomous EVs, space exploration, robotic surgery, Neuralink, etc. He’s our Leonard da Vinci.
And, I’m an “engineer,” too, although I view that title with some humor. I’m actually a retired programmer/developer, but back in the early 2000s, it became fashionable for employers to inflate titles, rather than give substantial raises. So, I was elevated to “software engineer.” But, no more money.
The Economist mag used to be dense with information back in the 80s and 90s. Now it's just dense.
stumbled and staggered
Yeah, he says what he thinks and dislikes corruption. Obviously not a Democratic politician. He is hated by the left because he bought twitter and promoted free speech, that is all. It is purely political on the left, he hinders their power.
People still think undergraduate degrees matter in a marketplace where their actual value has been diluted for decades. Lol.
Freder has a serious butthurt jealousy for Elon.
"And, I loath the idea of billionaires controlling our political life.”
Whose billionaires?
"And, I’m an “engineer,” too, although I view that title with some humor. I’m actually a retired programmer/developer, but back in the early 2000s"
There is no PE exam for "software engineers".
"The problem with Musk is that he has stumbled and staggered his way into political life, far most than most of his ilk."
If I thought about it, I could come up with a dozen multibillionaires pushing leftists policies and candidates. Soros, obviously. Michael Bloomberg, Reid Hoffman, the Pritzker clan. Does anyone from the media query them on how much they're hated? Somehow it was all A-OK until Musk.
"So how many British girls have been raped by Pakistani gangs, Freder?"
I don't know. But that doesn't give me the right to pull some (obviously ridiculous) number out of my ass.
He wants to populate the world with his seed.
ha ha ha
that cracks me up
Freder has panic attacks in the middle night
Elon's six children sent him to the psychiatrist office
Elon's nine children had him up in the middle of the night, pill-popping
Elon's 14 children? It's send Freder to the Althouse blog. "The fucking must stop. It's madness. Don't you see?"
Having a baby is a good thing, Freder. It's a joy. What's wrong with you?
I’m going to introduce a radical idea that most of you will immediately reject. The essay and interview wars are essentially useless and immaterial. AI and robotics tech will win every battle in the consumer marketplace. In retrospect, liberals will invent an endless fiction that lionizes their role as regulators, but it will all be bullshit. Musk, Andreessen, Kurzweil, Wissner-Gross, et. al, will transform the infrastructure of our world because everybody wants the wealth and convenience of the tech.
"...the one's now voting for the lunatic Democrat Socialists / Communists.
They want the false promise some liberal professor or administrator sold them fulfilled."
I believe a big factor driving these people's fondness for communism is a secret acceptance of their limitations. They know they are not up to to competing. They took easy classes, did what they were told, and got through with minimal effort. They have seen people far smarter and driven than them. They know they could never work as hard or accomplish what successful people have, which happens outside the guard rails of school. They hope to bring down the competition rather than rise up to it. It's pure envy and self-loathing pushed down deep where it doesn't stick in their throat shutting off the wind of their loud pretending.
“#4 The growing importance of space in warfare and national defense. The next full scale global war will see the first exo-atmospheric kinetic and EW engagements. Depend upon it.”
I have no doubt there. But realistically, that means that China is on the other side of the war. No one else can knock down enough of Musk’s or the US’s satellites to really matter.
Musk’s decision is how much to trust the US to cover his back. You wonder why he crashes at the White House, and ended his spat with Trump? Wasted his time with DOGE? And he gives the USG absolute priority on launches. He’s pretty safe, for the next 5 years or so, and esp if a Republican is elected in 2028. But the Dems would screw that up the first chance they got. Too many of them hate him too much, and, of course, follow the whims of the Chinese over the betterment of the US, through bribery and sympathy for Chinese communism.
Right now, Musk (and the USG) can put up satellites faster than the Chinese and Russians can knock them down. The Chinese know this, which is why they are working so hard to get reusable launch vehicles to work. But at some point, I think, Musk and the US are going to have to fortify their satellite networks. It’s going to be interesting how they do it.
"Whose billionaires?" Point taken.
It's an 85-minute interview. Maybe the first 50 minutes are mostly about AI, then a few minutes about Starlink and Ukraine, and then the final 25 are more political and the interaction more confrontational (as we see in the clip.)
He thinks he became too involved in US politics. He pushes back against her assertion that people died from the USAID cuts. He states 0 people died, repeatedly.
She thinks Musk considers Britain a crap country. He points out that he thinks a civil war will occur there because of recent immigration.
Plus he objects to her use of the term "far right," stating that they're the normal people.

Freder admits he doesn't know, but is sure that estimates by people who actually lived through the ongoing pedophile rape epidemic in Britain are "obviously ridiculous".
As already noted, he sounds like those people who say "How do we KNOW that Hitler killed six million Jews? Maybe it was only in the hundreds of thousands! Can you prove the number? Of course, when you give a long answer quoting recognized authorities, they ignore it, and wait for another occasion to repeat their disingenuous questions. What a disgusting pedophile-rape-denialist Freder is.
Musk has an undergraduate degree in Physics.
Bill Gates has a high school diploma.
Steve Jobs also had a high school diploma.
Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, Frank Lloyd Wright, Ted Turner, Harry Truman, Madonna, Brad Pitt, Ralph Lauren, Tiger Woods, all have a high school diploma. (Frank Lloyd Wright dropped out of the University of Wisconsin at Madison).
Over half of adults over the age of 25 in the USA do not have a college degree.
85% of the USA does not have a post-graduate degree.
93% of the world does not have a college degree
99% of the world does not have a post-graduate degree.
Elon Musk is very much with the rest of the world, Freder. While you are stuck in your elitist, pompous, 1% cage.
thx grimson.
"The problem with Musk is that he has stumbled and staggered his way into political life, far most than most of his ilk."
Musk got into politics for self defense. The Dems, funded by the Chinese along with a bunch of other billionaires, were starting to try to actively interfere with Musk’s businesses, under Biden. And esp with SpaceX, where they were trying to interfere with his ability to launch. They were using stupid enforcement of stupid environmental laws, etc. Before that, he was apparently a moderate Democrat, just.getting along. I think that it was China’s interference through the Dems in power that got him to get off the fence. And his involvement with politics really started with his purchased of Twitter. Others could have done it, but I suspect that he was the first with the means, who saw how to do it, and turn the company around, making it quickly profitable. As well as integrating it in with his other businesses. And with that, he became Public Enemy #2 (after. Trump, of course) of the left.
This woman is the Editor in Chief of The Economist magazine
"No one else can knock down enough of Musk’s or the US’s satellites to really matter."
Don't need to, embrace the horror of the Kessler Syndrome. Feel free to screencap this, but it will start with EW but won't stay that way. All modern militaries are massively dependent upon their surveillance birds far more so than GPS birds and they're differently hardened, differently orbited, with different flight paths. It will have to go kinetic with ASATs and a space-debris cascade will occur in the orbital shells that matter.
It is fundamentally a 'first mover' problem. The first country to go kinetic might have the upper hand in controlling how that cascade transpires, and I believe it's because of this that it will be the USA that will actually do it first.
What do people think the X-37Bs been doing on those top secret multi-year missions? Talking to aliens?
The same people who are telling you they're not violating the OST and not developing weapons in space are the same people who told you covid came from a bat/pangolin zoonotic jump in a wet market.
Sure Jan.
"Of course, when you give a long answer quoting recognized authorities, they ignore it, and wait for another occasion to repeat their disingenuous questions. "
I'm sorry, I didn't see a "long answer quoting recognized authorities" other than a citation to Lord Binhead in the House of Lords.
“ Bill Gates has a high school diploma.
“Steve Jobs also had a high school diploma.”
We have a group of most of a dozen who got together after almost 50 years for a wake, after a couple of us died. Of that group, two didn’t have college degrees. One had a semester of college, and the other had none. And of us, they had easily made the most money. It wasn’t because they weren’t smart enough. They just didn’t see the benefit. Similarly, my partner’s ex husband, and her late first one. The first three were in business before they would have graduated from college. Her late husband was one of the top chefs in Las Vegas by the time he was in his mid 20s. When he died, he was the executive banquet chef at Caesar’s, having been hired away from the MGM, with a raise bigger than most college grads make in a year. And then there were the tips, sometimes $10k, even $20k on a single banquet.
Bill Gates reportedly had double 800s on his SATs. One of a dozen or two in the country. And left Harvard because of boredom.
College isn’t for everyone. Many, especially on the left, stuck it out believing that college degrees were the ticket for a good salary. And many borrowed to do it. Worse were the worthless graduate degrees, that often resulted in a mountain of debt. Biden and the Dems tried to bail them out. Didn’t work. So millions of college grads are suffering under the pressure of their student loan debt, many looking at not being able to pay it off before retirement. These are the Dems’ foot soldiers.
Where do you get these bullshit numbers?
From the Rape Gang Inquiry Report, published by an MP, Rupert Lowe. They're extrapolating numbers from these smaller districts to the whole country. And they're going back almost 100 years, I think.
The (Islamic) mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, says there are no grooming gangs in London. Do you believe that claim? London is safer than the countryside? Does that make any sense at all?
Some of this might be paranoia/fear of foreigners. But if the government is covering up crimes committed by foreigners, does that solve the problem or make it worse?
The Independent has reported that almost 19,000 children were identified as sexual exploitation victims in England in one year alone, despite the reluctance of state actors to
name or tackle the problem of the rape gangs.
So that's one leftist newspaper who identified 19,000 children in the UK being raped, in one year, Freder. A decade of that would be 190,000 victims. Do you have any basis for saying that one year is an anomaly?
Space X valuation? Does Elon deliver, or not? Starship 13 launch in a few hours. Cost of lauching payloads headed for another dramatic downturn. He now puts 80+ percent of hardware into orbit.
Many laughed when he "overpaid" for Twitter. He seems to have turned it into a money-maker.
As for Tesla. Great vehicle. My son has the flagship model. It drives him all over LA and Ventura counties on mixed roadways at high speed in all kinds of traffic. Impressive but exceeds my level of trust. That's just safety. It's a computer, for God's sake! Does your computer at home or work ever do surprising things?
Range fits with Big Gov desire to keep people/subjects close to home. Also gives Gov knowledge of your location and driving habits at all times (4th ammendment issue?).
Your nine-year-old can steal the car and go anywhere they want. A hacker could steal without your knowledge (next-level car-jacking). A hacker could literally kidnap you!
I fear all of the above but, I believe there's still a lot of money to be made with this brand (and whatever gets sheltered under its umbrella.).
Freder Fuckhead either doesn't understand, or pretends not to understand, that I didn't give him a long list of evidence because I know he would ignore it. I have, for instance, on this very site given long lists of evidence, with links, to try to convince Jaq/imTay/Timofei that Russia is in fact committing war crimes in Ukraine, bombing apartments, churches, shopping centers, and trains, and he just waits a week or two and then repeats the same lies again.
The fact is that Freder could easily find out that young girls are being gang-raped by Pakistanis in the UK in huge numbers, but he either doesn't want to know, or he knows and doesn't want to admit it. He needs to do his own homework, or be damned as a pedophile-rape denialist.
Fredo lacks the intelligence to grasp the methodology behind the Lowe Report, ergo to him it looks like pulling numbers out of one’s ass. That he doesn’t like the number is obvious, but if he understood science (he doesn’t) he’d understand that his opinion on the result has nothing to do with whether there is an error in the methodology.
And Fredo’s caterwauling obscures a basic fact: whatever the number is, ONE unpunished rape is already too many. Especially when it’s the rape of a minor child.
Plus, of course, Fredo’s trying to hijack the thread, and we’re helping.
@RideSpace
I agree mostly. We have had F-15 launched anti-satellite missiles for most of a generation. With the Chinese demonstrating the capability awhile back. I suspect that before Trump, we weren’t building them quickly enough. With Musk having Trump’s ear, I suspect that has changed. What has changed though is the rapid buildout of Musk’s constellation of satellites. They apparently launched over half of the satellites launched last year, and poised to do better this year.
I do believe though that AST is on the horizon, treaty or not. I could see SpaceX (literally) moving offshore just to not be under the treaty. Islands are cheap, even if you limit them to having good launch profiles. What’s a couple million dollars to a company nearing being worth a Trillion dollars?
Musk has read the same sci-fi that many here have read. He sees the future as having significant industry in space. But instead of focusing on humans there, I think that he is looking more at robots - of which he already manufactures some of the best in the world. I ultimately see lasers more than kinetic. Too slow. Energy in space is, essentially, unlimited. And energy is really the limiting factor for laser power. Musk is already focusing on that, with his solar powered IC fabs.
We shall see.
He forgot to add the “toots”.
“ Space X valuation? Does Elon deliver, or not? Starship 13 launch in a few hours. Cost of lauching payloads headed for another dramatic downturn. He now puts 80+ percent of hardware into orbit”.
I think so. Musk is looking several steps out. Space X and Starship are just tools to make his vision possible. Along with Tesla. What that gave him was self driving vehicles and best-in-class robots.
Hey, thanks to all who gave me feedback on their Teslas. I do appreciate it. It’s funny: I first bought Tesla stock about six months after its initial IPO (I never buy initials), but never considered buying one. But my situation’s changing now for various, primarily physical, reasons. So any real-life feedback is very helpful. Thanks again.
“He (Musk) wants to populate the world with his seed.”
Not to be confused with former Steeler Le’Veon Bell, 7 kids by 6 women. Or the gold standard, former NYJet Antonio Chromartie, 14 kids with 8 women.
I am planning on buying some SpaceX, but I will wait until after its first six months as a publicly traded company, and I probably will sell off some of my Tesla to fund that. Speaking purely from my investor standpoint, Musk’s vision has worked out well for me, though its financials concern me more now. There are legitimate issues. Also, just due to age, I am over time getting more into consolidation, less-risk mode, as is appropriate compared to when I was in my 30s, 40s, and 50s. I do still appreciate Musk’s innovation vision in business and technology. Obviously.
…Jobs had ‘some college’…
Again thank you grimson.
Great interview. The thumbnail has Elon’s words “I am not a racist” in bold letters. This is why journos are disliked so much.
But the interview is very good with Musk doing most of the talking and Zanny Minton Beddoes asking short but pertinent questions.
I think she lashed out at Musk out of a sense of loyalty to Britain which makes it somewhat forgivable that she used the word “loath” to describe people’s views of Musk. But only somewhat forgivable.

Social Security was meant to provide you a bit of income in the 24 to 36 months between the time you stopped working and the time you died. Many of you were supposed to die suddenly from consumption before collecting anything at all. It was ill conceived from the start. Nobody who counts has any interest in scrapping it in favor of what most people think it is- an investment program for a comfortable retirement of a few decades it more…
Totally out of context for maximum effective spin.
In this thread, Freder managed to step on two rakes in record time.
It's going to be a great day.
Hey, thanks to all who gave me feedback on their Teslas.
I should mention that the controls and vision won't be what you are used to, it takes a while to adjust. I also had to recalibrate the cameras in the beginning, so it can be a bit techy. If you want plush and luxurious, you can do better for the money. If you want self driving, there is no competition. I bought it for the self driving. I no longer drive, I supervise.
“And, I loath the idea of billionaires controlling our political life.”
He may have done more than any man since Thomas Jefferson to eradicate control of your political life.
If the only thing he had done were to open up Twitter to free speech and drastically undermine the power of the governmental and quasi-governmental censors and commissars, he would have been the hero of the new century. He also delivered another almighty kick to the teeth of the government scum and their NGO orbiters and cronies with DOGE, and with Starlink he is in a position to bypass any government that dares to try to control the communications of its citizens.
The great challenge of our age is the destruction of the nanny-government monster, the #1 enemy of humanity, and stripping it down to something like 5-10% of its current bloated size. Musk recognizes this and is giving us the tools we need to attack and destroy the tyrannical filth.
…yes, without his efforts we’d still be suffering the rants of he claims without evidence there’s fraud in US government. He doesn’t seem to mind all the extra death threats…
I’m pretty impressed with how Freder morphed from objecting to my “supervised” driving bit to insisting that I must be in favor of police executions of innocent strangers. You can’t beat that!
@Bruce Hayden, Lasers act differently in vacuum. They heat, slow, and disable space vehicles and de-orbit them rather than blow them apart, which is substantially nicer. The blowing apart is a bug but also a feature of a future space scenario and why it's more than possible, it's probable to me that weapons having mass will still be used. And it might only take one.
Also, the asymmetry of capability and production capacity is highly tenuous. It is only barely in the USA's favor for now and is unlikely to remain so. Wealthy as Elon is it's nothing compared to state capacity and that's what we're really talking about.
I think the real difference is going to be in who is planning for the post-manmade-Leonid event. There are people, possibly even Elon's people, working on what a space-debris-cleanup/space-traffic-control system would look like. In the near future every powerful actor is going to have the capability to deny if they don't already, but not all of them will have the capability or the plan for what comes after.
Remember, Freder and the rest of his ilk categorically refuse to believe that Pakistani and other Muslim rape gangs are operating with the approval of his fellow friends on the left in Labour, in charge of England. "That would be 2% of all women raped! Who could beleieve such a number?" He bleats.
At the exact same time, Freder and the left also demand that we believe that over a quarter of all college women are raped on campuses and thats why we have to get rid of all due process for any white guy accused by a girl, no matter what she says, Because over a quarter of all college girls are raped. This statistic is one Freder has zero problems believing. Because to him, white male college boys are far more likely to rape than hordes of Muslim men.
Kaka and FF suffer from the failing of all fanatics. All their views are filtered through their ideological prism. In the past they would have been flatting Musk. Now they're explaining how or claiming SpaceX minds at ease guy. is a loser.
Let me put ya'lls minds at ease guys. SpaceX is a winner because it has a huge first mover advantage at gobbling up almost all of the prime satellite locations in earth orbit. It's a winner because it rents compute to other tech companies for a couple of billion a month.
Why you feel the need to denigrate the accomplishments of someone who is likely the greatest innovator in history? And one the most significant persons economically? Are ya'll so insecure intellectually that you can't handle the fact that he chose to align himself with a politician you hate? Or that is allied with other people you disagree with? Because that is the only reasonable explanation. Which makes both of you pathetic.
The Economist has been charged with being heavy on "analysis" and opinion and light on actual reporting. The charge being that it tells people what they ought to think, rather than what is going on in the world. They were seen as a conservative publication in the Thatcher years. Today they are more liberal globalist. The editor-in-chief featured in the clip, Zanny Minton Beddoes, is part of the class that is forever bestowing honors and awards on each other.
Musk is one goofy brilliant guy, and he sure thinks fast on his feet. Wish I had his retort-power. Silly lady reporter, probably cast in hopes that Musk would make some misogynistic quip for her to get all outraged and weepy. Enjoyed the clip!
"Zanny Minton Beddoes."
P.G. Wodehouse lives!
Not Illinois Resident said, "Silly lady reporter, probably cast in hopes that Musk would make some misogynistic quip for her to get all outraged and weepy."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Women no longer need misogyny. They'll do it anyway.
There's a reason it's called The Ecommunist these days.
If the only "political" thing that Musk ever did was to assist in eliminating USAID, he would still be one of the greatest Americans ever.
Buying Twitter, exposing its' role as a propaganda/censorship arm of the Democrat party, and keeping it open to all as a true bastion of free speech cements his status.
@Jim: The IPO was all about IB fees not future prospects of Space X
Let’s be fair, 4 companies inside SpaceX and Starlink made $4.4 billion in operating income on $11.4 billion in revenue.
Starlink’s massive 2025 operating profit and over 10 million subscribers make it SpaceX’s only consistently profitable division.
SpaceX's combined Space launch segment (rockets and satellites) and the AI infrastructure division lost a combined $7+ billion, leaving SpaceX with a net loss overall.
"SpaceX’s massive valuation rests on an assumption that its AI division — which made a loss of $6.4bn in 2025 — has a total addressable market of $26.5tn." ~ Bloomberg
Total world GDP is estimated at $126T. So AI will be 20% of world output? No, no it won't
X/Twitter is loss making and Musk had to issue $25bn in debt just to pay those off for its incorporation.
Until SpaceX demonstrates it can make profits outside of Starlink, it is just a gambling platform, worse than a casino, it's just betting on what you think other people will think.
Limousine Liberals are all about "credentials": ergo, my daughter with her PhD in Gender Studies from Ivy League University paid with my money is so so so much smarter than your son from the Land Grant State University physics department. This interviewer was alarmed by Musk, who failed to pander to the Editor in Chief of The Economist, who dared to question her British elitist view of how wonderful London is, how wonderful Britain is, how terrible smart American men with traditional liberal ideas truly are.
Free Speech! How Terrible!
Closed borders at borders, not just at international airports! How terrible!
No welfare nor social benefits to undocumented migrants! How terrible!
In England, undocumented migrants get 1st dibs on NHS procedures, including dental appointments for tooth fillings, get a hotel room, cell phone, free meals, video games and entertainment, and a Big Pass from local police. Wonderful, when it has zero impact upon your own cloistered little world in West End of London, in Knightsbridge where you shop, in Richmond where you live. .
Funny how the High Society liberal bubble clouds the view.
