"Many people have talked about how funny Senator Graham was...What I remember about that hearing was that somehow Senator Graham made me look funny..."

"... which is a harder thing entirely, by asking me what I had done on Christmas...many people said to me afterwards that exchange with Senator Graham was the moment my confirmation was sealed."

Said Justice Kagan, testifying today before a House Appropriations subcommittee about the Supreme Court's budget:

And here's the exchange with Graham at her confirmation hearing, back in 2010:

Lindsey Graham also led the Republican side in the prosecution of Bill Clinton in his impeachment case, did he not? As a very smart young firebrand, Graham. At least, so I remember. I think later he made very few references to his role, it wasn't going to win any votes he wouldn't already get. I admired his determination and readiness during that procedure. He put it out there.

Oh, yeah, this clip was kinda funny too. Kagan's very very fake laugh when she kinda gets the joke is hard to take, though.

Yeah, for a US Senator he had a great sense of humor. It reminds me of how people would describe Alan Simpson and Bob Dole and great funnymen with "wicked senses of humor". I guess you had to be there.

Graham voted to confirm Kagan just like he voted to confirm Garland as AG, and Sotomayor, RBG and Breyer. He didn't vote for Jackson because of political pressure. Remeber Graham was part of McCain's "Gang of 14" on Judges.

Poor Elana. I know we all grow old, but she must have hit every branch on the ugly tree.

What a shame that the democrats have weaponized these hearings so much that a simple question like that sounds ominous. The democrats have destroyed so much of our comity and I fear they have or have come very close to their goal of overthrowing this country.

GOP votes for leftists.

Marxist dems screech for death - any and all who do not obey and submit to their foul logic.

Back in 2010, nobody would have even thought to ask, but I bet she would have a standard answer to "What is a woman?"
That's how far and fast we have fallen with common acceptance of science and facts. We all have our own truth now. Maybe that means we are all geniuses, or at least all above average.

That was a great answer. Jon Stewart never would have pull that out.

Obligatory "if that sealed her nomination, my opinion of Graham goes down" comment.
