I hadn't checked my Bluesky feed in a long time, but something made me go there today.

Here's what it offered me:
Why did I sojourn there? Meade, for his reasons, happened to text me a video I'd posted there:

That, along with the words "A New Day," made up my first post after I'd opened a Bluesky account. I had the idea of expressing something that might bring Trump lovers and haters together.

I see I only posted once more on Bluesky. It was the same day, the same minute:

A Lincoln Sunrise — yesterday, on the University of Wisconsin campus:

I see I got one like. It was probably Meade. This positive content thing... eh. Maybe I didn't try hard enough.

On the heatwave topic, the PJM grid has issued an emergency warning about possible blackouts. Left out of all the news stories is the fact that yesterday wind and solar supplied only a tiny bit of power. The max is 31% and yesterday it averaged about 4%.

We have a supply problem; not a demand problem. We have way too much unreliable solar and wind in our grid.

Unfortunately, people are going to have to die in a blackout for the public to figure out that solar and wind are the problem. Dangerous, unreliable and expensive. The CAGW crowd did this to America.

There aren't enough white supremacists on Bluesky for it to be a true virtual town square, like Twitter. In that regard, there's a lack of intellectual diversity because it cuts off before it hits the bottom of the barrel.

The “white supremacists” thing is voices in your head. Virtually non-existent except in your paranoia and your odd belief that mind reading is a kind of fact finding. X is a madhouse of every kind of loon. You can find any kind you like and then insist it’s representative of your entire opposition. It’s called “nut-picking.”

As noted above -- the irony is the lumpen Trump supporters see him as a great businessman. This is a man, born rich, who was a master of disaster and fraud. The money only came when they put him in power...

Trump didn’t discover lawlessness while in office. He ran a real estate development business on it for decades, and the market is about to learn what his subcontractors already know.

In that world a signed contract isn’t your word, it’s an opening position. A zoning bylaw is the thing that binds the other guy, and with enough lawyers and enough cash it just becomes a negotiation. The professionals, the architects and engineers and trades do 100% of the work before they figure out they’re getting paid 75% and the final payment isn’t coming, because suing for the last quarter costs more than just eating it. That last twenty-five percent is basically King’s recovery rate. The counterparty who assumed the paper meant something is the bondholder in his note.

None of this was hiddden from voters. They watched a guy build a whole brand on not paying, bragging and lying, and populism just translated it as strength. The apathy with the whole billion (more actually) isn’t ignorance, it's the plan. And for those not in crypto or the stock exchange, you can still get a Trump bible , or you can buy a Trump phone.

Things I have seen discussed in mainstream newsmedia as being signs of white supremacy:

- Working hard for good grades in school. (Guilty as charged. I was born and raised in a quarry town — grades and a college degree that I could use to get a job were my ticket out.)

- Being polite, especially to customers.

- Being punctual.

- Avoiding violence.

- Providing white milk to school children.

This is hilariously stupid. Zuck killed the Hunter Biden laptop story in 2020. Bezos supported the most anti-Trump newspaper in the country, WaPo, until the losses became so overwhelming that he decided to bail. “Trump-loving” is a shit for brains analysis of why Zuck and Bezos have turned to being open to Trump on AI and robotics. They have done so because Trump is all in on advancing AI and robotics. It’s in their self-interest. All the big tech gurus that once tried to sabotage Trump have slowly gone over to his side to oppose the Luddites. It had to happen. Once again, it’s enlightened self-interest. Love has nothing to do with it.

bagoh20 said...

I know Trump's failings. How could I not. The media tells me about 227% of them daily. I accept them, because they are far less damaging to my family and my country than the alternatives offered, and even more importantly they come with benefits and improvements that are far beyond what I voted for. Repeating the same old bitching about Trump for 10 years is not going to do anything, but maybe it still gets a bank deposit every month.

john mosby said...

From his 'rack,' LTC Watson is not a pilot. Non-pilot USAF officers, especially at the O-5 level, live in frustration because commands of 'their' support units get given out to pilots, partially to staunch the pilot flight to the airlines and partially in the belief that the warrior customers should run the organizations that supply/maintain/etc them. To this guy, Trump is just one more brash bully boy telling him what to do. And an LTC has about 15-20 years in service, which means this guy has been through Obama-Trump-Biden-Obama-Trump and maybe a little bit of W. Enough to give anyone PTSD, even if you never left the US.

He may be hoping that a court-martial panel of his contemporaries will be similarly pissed off by Trump and acquit him or at least hang. CC, JSM

I have no problem with Trump or anyone else making money doing the right things. That's how capitalism gets good things done. If a leader is going to get a great deal for the U.S. and someone here is going to get rich off it, who should get that opportunity? It's naïve to think it would not be someone with ties to said leader. It always was and always will be.

Bezos and Zuckerberg and the Murdochs are Bezos-loving, Zuckerberg-loving and Murdoch-loving billionaires. Fox News and the NY Post became too pro-Trump for Rupert and the lads to rein in like they did for the WSJ and the Times of London.

Billionaires take what they want from both parties. They're not ideologues and are too big to be tied down. What matters to them are business opportunities, not political philosophy or partisan loyalty. They can make the shift from one party to another, like Murdoch did from Thatcher's Tories to Tony Blair's New Labor.

But how much do the attitudes of the owners have to do with what the media does? Bill Paley of CBS wasn't any kind of liberal firebrand. Katharine Graham didn't hate Reagan. Her paper definitely did. Five or ten years down the road, if the Ellisons still own CBS will they have made much of a difference?

Bob Boyd said...

Perhaps Watson is a man with the courage of his convictions, but I wouldn't be surprised if this move turns out to be related to personal problems or a professional setback of some kind.

Lazarus said...

The impeachment circus seems like yesterday's news. The left media is trying to make Watson a big story. He isn't. Let the Democrats take back Congress though, and we'll have to relive the whole damned farce.

Soros family make their money shorting people and eliminating wealth.

They make their money shorting national currencies and causing them to crash.

No one cares if they short enterprises in the private sector, but pocketing billions of dollars from piratical currency speculation is the kind of thing that leftists used to care about deeply.

Elon Musk makes electric cars, solar panels, rocket ships, communications satellites, robots, tunneling machines, neural implants, and more, improving our lives, cleaning up the environment, and employing hundreds of thousands of people at good wages.

George Soros produces nothing, employs no one, and made his fortune by looting national treasuries of tens of billions of dollars that could have been used for housing, health care, and food for the poor people he professes to love.

Yet which of the two does the Left love, and whom do they hate? That tells me all I need to know about them. Democrats are my enemies, not my countrymen. I look forward to an upheaval that will allow us to rid the country of them. I hope that both Soros and I live long enough that I can see him hanged on a long gallows on the Washington Mall, alongside a few hundred others who deserve it marginally less than he does.

The collective hivemind left are cool with it.

Of course they are. They get a cut of the action. See above.
