Said — it's so obvious (who talks like that?) — Trump.
The same allies that have worked to build economic, diplomatic and military hedges against Trump’s unpredictability found themselves applauding his role in restoring a measure of stability....
“It’s like hosting Thanksgiving dinner with some awkward relatives and a few awkward moments,” said Max Bergmann, director of the Europe, Russia and Eurasia program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. “There’s a different definition of success. Getting the president and getting the United States to just be, in some ways, normal and having this come across as a relatively routine summit — that’s the win.”...
As leaders gathered between sessions, European Council President António Costa turned to Trump and remarked, “We are friends again.” Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni quickly interjected: “We have always been friends.” The exchange drew laughs....

Who talks like this? Me! When I’m in my humble mode.
There are humble mathematicians, they exist (backwards capital ‘E’), but I am not among them.
"Trump’s unpredictability" is really just that he does what's needed rather than look for a way to avoid it, which is the predictable thing in the West.

He ain't wrong.
"Unruptured" means European "allies" bent the knee.
Sykes-Picot is dead.
The Dollar is King again.
Soros tried to take out the Dollar like he took out the Pound.
This is a complete and total US victory.

"Normal" meaning "US paying and putting lives on the line to protect Europe while Europe allows Muslim immigrants to gang-rape 250k-plus children.
It's not the powerful G7 performance we got from Biden when he wandered around lost and needed the leader of Italy to steer him back home like a toddler at a wedding photo shoot.
Those were the days when our leaders made the world respect us.
"The same allies that have worked to build economic, diplomatic and military hedges against Trump’s unpredictability found themselves applauding his role in restoring a measure of stability."
That's how he restored stability! By scaring them into rebuilding their own militaries, taking economics seriously, and changing their diplomatic approaches. CC, JSM
Imagine Kamala bringing the world together with her powerful words and presence. We really blew it in 2024.
Oil at $75/bbl. Henry Hub at $3/mBTU.
I think they're sucking up because they've realized they cannot afford the cost of their own defense, without creating havoc in their own welfare states. They've finally come to a recognition that the hole they're in is deeper than they previously imagined.
"They've finally come to a recognition that the hole they're in is deeper than they previously imagined."
And they know intimately that they are not equipped in resources, ideas, or courage to fix anything of it.
"The same allies that have worked to build economic, diplomatic and military hedges against Trump’s unpredictability..."
"worked" is not precise enough there. The word should be "failed".

They are sucking up because AfD, Reform UK, and National Rally are ahead in the polls and the serfs are sharpening their pitchforks and guillotines.
“’Look, we have nothing to do with it’, Mr. Trump said of the war. ‘It has no impact on us, other than we sell weapons’ to Ukraine, he added. ‘We’re thousands of miles away’.”
The deal was made.
Russia gets their land bridge to Crimea and they stop supporting Iran Mullahs.
This was probably signed a year ago.

Is dishonest modesty really something to admire? Of course, that's the expected standard, but I'm not sure it should be. If Biden or Obama had the same performance, I'd be fine with it from them, too, but it is only a Trump thing, and maybe Muhammad Ali.
When you think of Trump's long, close relationship with the sport of fighting, it makes sense as a style. It's also a result of having to endure a career of politicians and the press saying what he proposes is impossible, and then after he did it as promised getting to rub their noses in it. Irresistible.
Who talks like that?
As I noted the other day, Trump is such a narcissist that anything approaching normal human behavior makes him seem like St. Francis of Assisi.
What military hedges did these countries "build"? For instance, the UK equivalent to Hegseth resigned last week, because:
In a letter addressed to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Healey had criticised funding for the long-awaited Defence Investment Plan (DIP) and said he had "no other option" but to resign.
The DIP, originally scheduled for publication in Autumn 2025, is due to set out the UK's defence spending for the next decade, but it has faced repeated delays despite warnings that the nation's armed forces face a major funding gap.
"Your DIP financial settlement - which I was first given in full on Monday afternoon this week - falls well short of what is required for defence and the country at this dangerous time," Healey wrote in his resignation letter.
"You know what defence needs," he continued. "Without a DIP that meets the moment in this way, I am being forced to make decisions that would reduce the readiness of our Forces and increase the risk to personnel on operations, and could make the country less safe".
Meanwhile, the UK GDP shrunk 0.1% in April. Many of the other G-7 countries annualized GDP growth is less than 1%.
What is WaPo source for the claim that the G-7 countries did the things WaPo claims they did?
Trump is fine with Iran having a ballistic missile program because other countries have them. By that logic he should be okay with them having nuclear weapons. Israel has them. Only fair.
How are England, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy our allies? Militarily, they can't do anything. Great Britain has 14 self-propelled guns. That's it. 14. And not all of them in service. Britain is not a serious country anymore. They have absolutely no intention of fighting anyone.
We're their ally, but they have welched on the deal.
G-7 ends without rupture
New York Times hardest hit.
G-7 ends with rapture.

And I’m still here. Shit!
They removed themselves as serious countries in this outing
