Good O’Reilly tonight. First half, he discusses the “talking past one another” dispute between Trump and the Pope. And, then, he says for the first time that the Iran War is threatening to destroy Trump’s presidency, both because there appears to be no quick and easy way out, and because of gas prices. O’Reilly isn’t exactly a Trump supporter, but he does give Trump a fair hearing.
That tiny little moon confirms how powerful the moon illusion can be. In the photo (a wide camera shot), it's small despite being low on the horizon. Happy 555 timer IC day [5/5/2026] introduced 55 years ago
The 555 timer IC is a highly versatile integrated circuit used for timing, pulse generation, and oscillator applications, originally introduced in 1971 by Signetics. It operates in three primary modes: astable (continuous oscillation), monostable (single pulse trigger), and bistable (flip-flop/latch).
I wonder how many Special Forces A detachments are on the ground in Iran. If the CIA are doing their jobs out there I reckon about 15 along with a commensurate number of B teams. Trump isn’t going to allow his victory to morph into a stalemate. It takes time to arm and train cadres. This should have been in the works before we bombed the shit out of them
“the Iran War is threatening to destroy Trump’s presidency, both because there appears to be no quick and easy way out, and because of gas prices.” Knowing zero about Iran or military tactics let me give you my opinion anyway - The war is over. It’s all timing now.
About the Declaration there is a finality that is exceedingly restful. It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning can not be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction can not lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers.
Paul Johnson's A History of the American People does a great job of providing context that is often absent from works that focus solely on the document.

It is downright frightening to think Minnie Gov.Tim Walz was an actual VP candidate. He was, is, and will always be a bumbling fool. And could have been a heartbeat away from the presidency.
“Maybe establishment of permanent control of the Strait is the plan. A U.S. base. a defanged Iran. What's wrong with that?”
Consider at the start of Trump’s second presidency, China controlled the Panama Canal and businesses paid to go through it. Now the Panama Canal is back under US control and at the moment, the Strait of Hormuz is under US control.
In the annals of government incompetence, this may not stand out so boldly (due to the strong competition), but really: Assassin scores 1 hit, the Secret Service/police 0 hits (out of 5 shots)? A guy with a shotgun and pistol, shooting and running loose only one stairway from almost the entire US government line of succession, and he walks away unscathed! He certainly didn't expect that himself; he told his family goodbye before doing this. Yet somehow he not only survives, he ends up having the judge apologizing to HIM for the jail conditions he had to endure (which were of course deserved conditions for the J6 defendants, the judge thought).
And yet, nothing but kudos for the Secret Service (again, just like after Butler)!
With Maine Gov. Janet Mills, a normal far left (ha) candidate withdrawing from the Dem senate primary race, the path is clear for a Nazi to run as the Dem standard bearer. Platner it is!

Hegseth ends press conference after snapping at question about Netanyahu's 'pull' on Trump ~ Raw Story
"At the end of a brief and subdued Pentagon press conference on the Iran war, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth cut off a reporter from Zero Hedge for suggesting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu will “pull” Donald Trump back into escalating the conflict.
Toward the end of a long question from a reporter identifying himself as being from Zero Hedge, the former Fox News personality was asked, “Netanyahu put this on Twitter, Israel's head of Mossad said Israel's goals are not finished until the Iranian government collapses,” followed by “… how can you ensure America doesn't get roped back into a war if that comes? And secondly, with Netanyahu comfortable tweeting something like that out? And also, Netanyahu has continued bombing Lebanon despite President Trump"
"I would say your —your question is based on the false premise that somehow President Trump is being pulled in by Prime Minister Netanyahu to any of these actions, and that's where you're going,” Hegseth snapped.
Re: gad's Substack link - every once in a while the piece admits that Trump isn't actually trampling the rights of his "subjects," only that he could and of course probably wants to.
The rest of it is framing: Trump's mean tweets about judges' actions presented as equivalent to firing the judges and dissolving the courts, suspending certain EPA regs presented as his "refusing his Assent to Laws, the most necessary and wholesome for the public good" without acknowledgement that the "public good" being "protected" by these regs is purely a matter of opinion, using EOs as "open contempt for legislative constraints" instead of a utilitarian SOP for modern presidents to enable them to enact their agendas - on which they were elected - while Congress fiddles.
So, business as usual. "No Kings! (Except the ones we like.)"
“ Zerohedge has press credentials at the Pentagon?”
Why wouldn’t they? Under Trump, press credentials aren’t just for leftists anymore. And if it were just Zerohedge, they probably wouldn’t need to be escorted at all times anymore.
Zerohedge was the most important and accurate news organization in the country for both COVID-19 and the Biden censorship complex. They were months and years ahead of other sources.

Instead, they dug up some fringe conspiracy angle to smear the people who actually showed up as White Nationalists.

@WILDSWAN: "I'm trying to find the best book to reaf about the Declaration of Independence in honor of its 250th anniversary?"
You don't need to read a whole book about it to understand its importance. Read what Calvin Coolidge, one of our most underrated Presidents, said about it a hundred years ago.
