Said L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, fighting for reelection and surprised by this upstart, quoted in "Karen Bass is terrible at this" (Washington Examiner). The feeling I get:

The whole premise of the Democrat Party for decades is to exploit victimhood, often unjustified victimhood.
Whay a shameless (redacted)
If it wasn’t for her complete incompetence and failure as Mayor, I never would have heard of Karen Bass.
She failed twice. First, the fire department wasn’t prepared. And then she won’t let people rebuild.
Really incomprehensible. Two basic failures of catastrophic proportions.
It is Karen Bass's lack of concern and indifference of the people that lived in the Palisades, such as the Pratt family which she never heard of previously nor cared, that I think is reprehensible.
Shes a communist apparatchik (venceremos brigade)
The victims in the Palisades were created by bad policy- a culture of eco activism that includes setting fires, lack of infrastructure maintenance and investment, an agenda focused on pointless priorities. Tsk Tsking upstarts and rogues is part of that pointless agenda…
She failed twice. First, the fire department wasn’t prepared. And then she won’t let people rebuild.
Sorry Dave, but you are giving her far too much credit. She also left the country when her city faced a major threat of fire. In her leave, she left in charge a deputy Mayor, who was under house arrest for calling in a fake bomb threat to City Hall.
It would be amazing to see him win, as if progress were occurring…
Also: “Honestly, before this I had never heard of empty reservoirs.”
Spencer Pratt is one of the people suffering grief rather directly from the fires. He lost his house.
She destroyed a city and yet hasnt been chased away with torches
What she really finds reprehensible is that someone is calling her out on her multiple failures. If she had any concern about those people from the Palisades, she would’ve worked to expedite construction permits so they could rebuild and waived their property taxes until reconstruction was complete.
My favorite Karen Bass proposal is to offer homeless meth-heads free dental care at the expense of the taxpayers, so they can fix their teeth that the meth has rotted out, and then go out and get a job (after brushing up their resumes, first, I assume).
Sure, that's gonna work!
There are people in LA who are mad as Hell and not prepared to take it anymore. Are they a majority? If so then a wss is gone.
We’re Americans. We might be patient, but we can only be pushed so far.
L. A. is the pinnacle of one party rule. It is run by the Dem party, the unions and the ethnics. It will be a miracle if Pratt is elected.
“Am I able to come up with solutions to problems I’ve exacerbated ? You voted for the wrong person if you believe I can do that."

narciso boils it down @7:04AM.
Imagine a Democrat being against the exploitation of grievances for political advantage!
Spencer has induced Angelinos to truly grasp the complete indifference Bass and her minions have to the plight of the people they govern. Every syllable from their mouths is performative, and has no real meaning.
They are communists, and they react to truth like Dracula reacts to a shower and scrub. Perhaps Stein's Law will finally find its time to shine.
Now standing up for people is exploiting them? Even when you ARE one of those people?
In a healthy democracy, Bass' own mother wouldn't vote for her. What better evidence that the system in LA is broken than that she is going to win?
Bass, with the brainpower of a bass, finds it reprehensible that she's been hooked and landed by fisherman Pratt.
LA burned while Newsom fiddled and Bass brayed a DEIst cacophony.
Karen Bass is not a competent mayor or candidate for mayor, yet she is the mayor. What is she good at?
Don't say she isn't good at anything. Surely thousands of people would like to be mayor of LA, and many of them rank higher on the diversity meter.
How did she rise to the top?
NO evil leftist incompetent commie - YOU and your corrupt party exploit everyone. A rage fueled leftist started that fire.

"Karen Bass is terrible at this"
This? It is so limiting. She seems terrible at many things.
What is she good at?
Exploiting empathy for the homeless and drug addled to fleece millions from foolish taxpayers that think she is interested in removing that which the taxpayers willfully give up their money to support. And brother, she exceeds my expectations for anyone to be as good as she is at doing it; except I must admit, Gavin Newsom seems even better. Maybe Keir Starmer is the best, but he's running out of foolish taxpayers.
Instead of "exploiting their grief" the city of LA should continue with business as usual, which will make the people who used to live in the Palisades feel so much better about their plight.
Can she really be so clueless that she thinks the voters won't know that Pratt lost his own home to the fires she allowed, and is living in a trailer, which just finally got electricity and water?
Pratt, self-exploiting his own grief, like a proper white man.
Can she really be so clueless that she thinks the voters won't know that Pratt lost his own home to the fires she allowed, and is living in a trailer, which just finally got electricity and water?
It worked on the employees of TMZ.
Karen Bass lives in a $4m house.
My question to AI was, "How did Karen Bass get rich?" Answer below. I don't believe it. Someone gave her a pile of money.
"Medical Roles: She worked for years as a registered nurse and a physician assistant.
USC Instructor: She worked as a clinical instructor at the University of Southern California (USC) Keck School of Medicine.
Retirement Foundation: Her House Financial Disclosures show that her single largest financial assets are traditional retirement savings accounts—such as her USC Retirement Savings 401(a) and TIAA-CREF accounts—built during her time in medicine and higher education.
2. Government Salaries
Bass transitioned into a career as an elected official, which provided standard, regulated government salaries rather than corporate or private business wealth:
Wikipedia
California State Assembly (2004–2010): Served as a representative and became Speaker of the Assembly.
U.S. House of Representatives (2011–2022): Earned the standard congressional salary of $174,000 per year for over a decade.
Mayor of Los Angeles (2022–Present): "
That CV doesn’t mention her training as a Communist Revolutionary in Castro’s Cuba, with the ever present Soviet advisers. Probably where she learned how utilities can be used as a carrot or a stick.
She also worked for a State Department agency that paid her salary. Not in Dave’s bio. Same one that had the event in Africa that required her to accompany the Biden administration instead of staying in LA. She was warned about the potential disaster but decided to break her promise and leave town.
You're an upstart
Lets not start that again.
Sorry, I'm a self-starter
Exploiting grief? Democrats are experts with that. Even fake grief. Only a handful of people really suffered grief, if even a full handful, when Saint George Floyd killed himself by overdose. Look at how that was exploited.
In related news, Nithya Raman will be on Hasan Piker's podcast tomorrow. Ye Gods.
No, I'm not making this up:

Coleman Young kept winning re-election as Detroit kept sinking. The people who leave the sinking boat first are the agile and the aware. I think Bass is winning in the polls. Many of the people who would vote against her have perhaps already migrated from LA......The mere fact that she's running for re-election is an indication of how stupid the people of LA are. Ponder the example of Chicago.
"A rage fueled leftist started that fire"
And an incompetent lesbian diversity hire removed firefighters from the scene against prescribed policy and that led directly to the catastrophe. That second part has not been emphasized nearly enough, not at all, in fact it's been covered up. Pratt should stress that vindictive and destructive leftist hiring policy has made the LAFD an untrustworthy organization.
"I never heard of the guy" sez Mayor Bass. If he wins, Ol Spencer is going to live in Bass's nightmares forever.
Democrat pols can never defend their records. They are largely incompetent. They can only do a few things well. Among them are spend taxpayer money, grift and lie.
I don’t see Pratt winning. Democrat tolerance for graft and incompetence is second only to their hatred of Trump. He has shown Republicans how to campaign though.
"Karen Bass is terrible at this" really misses the point. Terrible at what? In a one-party state, you only have to be good at one thing: getting on the ballot, which means doing what your superiors want. You literally need no skills of any kind, certainly not the kind that would let you manage a city. Kamala Harris has no visible skills, nor does Gavin Newsome - are they "terrible" at what they do? No, they are very good. It's a mistake to think their job is governing.
She is doing the work of her instructors at camp matanzas
Know what? I never heard of that guy before either. Maybe I heard the name. Never connected it to a face I'd seen.
"My favorite Karen Bass proposal is to offer homeless meth-heads free dental care at the expense of the taxpayers, so they can fix their teeth that the meth has rotted out, and then go out and get a job (after brushing up their resumes, first, I assume)."

Pratt isn’t going to win because it’s LA. But his AI mockery of Bass incompetency is the next wave.
Bass got rich insider trading like all members of Congress.
She said that before. It's all she's got. Aren't politics and government supposed to do something about people's grievances? Shouldn't Bass already have done something about rebuilding the Palisades? It's true that sometimes politicians like people being aggrieved in order to get their votes, but in this case it's Bass who's keeping them aggrieved. For what possible reason?
"She failed twice. First, the fire department wasn’t prepared. And then she won’t let people rebuild. Really incomprehensible."
Easily comprehended. Someone, somewhere wants to buy up all that land at rock bottom prices. Which is the ultimate, unavoidable consequence of their not allowing rebuilding. The property owners (who are no doubt still being forced to pay property tax) will eventually be praying to be able to sell that land for $1/acre just to avoid that tax. And that someone, somewhere, is going to make sure that Bass is compensated for her help. Hell, I wouldn't doubt for a moment that the left wing psychopath that started the fires wasn't directly hired for this purpose.
Whatever honest advantage Pratt might enjoy with voter sentiment, let us not forget the face of the machine that will be counting the votes.
I love the AI ads people are creating for Pratt. Awesome.
Karen Bass is Awful
Shouting Thomas said...

Amen, brother. Preach it.
Except, he did not "lose his house". He did but what he is pretty vocal about is "THEY BURNED MY HOUSE DOWN!!!" They being Karen Bass et al.
There is a pretty good clip from the other day where 2 presstitutes from TMZ tried to gotcha him for saying that he "lived" in Palisades still. He turned it back on them saying he didn't live anywhere in particular. In an Airstream on the burntout palisades lot, with family in Santa Barbara, in hotel "BECAUSE THEY BURNED MY HOUSE DOWN!!!!"
It goes on for 8 minutes and well worth the watch. He repeats that "THEY BURNED MY HOUSE DOWN!!!" half a dozen times in the clip. He really brings the fire.

I didn't know who he was a few days ago. Now, if I ever get home again (Driving to MN tomorrow morning) I'm going to send him $50-100 for his campaign.
John Henry
Isn't redress of grievances a First Amendment right?

Listening to those two idiots, they actually seemed to think that Pratt should consider being able to stay in a hotel instead of his (burned down) house was an upgrade.
"Honestly, before this, I had never heard of Spencer Pratt. The thing I am concerned [about] and feel about him is that I feel like he’s exploiting the grief of people in the Palisades, and I just think that’s just reprehensible."
Says the person responsible (in part, there are others) for the grief of those people in the Palisades. You'd think Bass would be ashamed of her failure instead of outraged at finding it on public display, wouldn't you?
Karen Bass should move to Havana, hangout with her old pal Castro's brother, and retire to a life of rum and bananas.
Lets see if the LA voters re-elect her. If they do, shut up about how poorly run LA is.
@ Saint Croix
I saw that one this afternoon, and it's... Awesome!
It isn’t incompetence! It is the deliberate destruction of the middle class. That is what communism does.
Karen Bass is Black. End of story. Embrace the suck.
Karen Bass is Black. End of story. Embrace the suck.
You are pretending that the opposition to Karen Bass is racist.
Why?
It's possible that you're just racist. But I think it's more likely that you're a Karen Bass supporter, and you're trying to dismiss Pratt and his supporters as racist.
False-flag, manufactured racism, to undercut a genuine populist revolt against an upper-class, out-of-touch limousine liberal. Your flop-sweat is showing.
