"You don’t need people to believe you, you just need to get it out of your poor body before it gives you cancer."

Said the actress Ruby Rose, quoted in "Katy Perry accused of sexual assault by Ruby Rose/Rose claimed Perry assaulted her at a nightclub almost 20 years ago. Perry denied the accusations, calling them ‘dangerous, reckless lies’" (London Times).

Rose isn't suing, but she says, "[Perry] is more than welcome to sue me (she won’t, because it happened, I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people)."

All this trouble, just so Katy could say "I kissed a girl ..."

Is there a reason why we’re supposed to give an damn about this? Hell, is there a reason why you give a damn?

so many worthless people with zero actual accomplishments think that being a victim is an accomplishment.

also do you even have to say that it is always women and worthless feminized men doing this crap?

we need to include bill maher in this conversation. our society has produced too much wealth and there is just a crust of parasitic whiny failures that needs to be cast down.

I need to see video of the incident before I can decide how I feel about it.

In this case, I'm interested in the defamation angle — declining to sue but assigning a presumption to the other person's failure to sue you. Does that work? No one goes to court, but it's supposed to mean that the accused person really did it, or they'd sue for defamation.

Pleading the Fifth is all well and good as a legal principle, but everyone assumes that the person doing it is guilty. What a pain, if you're Katy Perry and you just want to live your life - you have to sue or you're a #MeToo perp.

seems like most of Hollywood, music, and entertainment people live in a sewer, and like it.

How do you go about suing someone for saying something about something that happened twenty years ago? Seems quite impractical.

She doesn't have time to sue, she's just decided to go out for a little smear instead.

I see she also claims to have been raped a number of times, too, also apparently without a formal resolution. But hey, these days, who has the time? #Believeallwomen.

Is Perry still on Idol? (Checks). Nope, replaced this year, pre-allegation, by Carrie Underwood. Idol execs breathing easier.

Katy Perry famously and aggressively supported Hillary ("stand by your predatory husband") Clinton in 2016. She swam with both the Hollywood crowd and the creepy Democratic power crowd. Using TDS logic, these were both 'disqualifying.'

Given the Democrats current Chavez-Swalwell standards, I'm looking for them to call for prison time. "Lock her up for life. She'll kiss her transgendered prison guard and like it."

I recognize that I am becoming a cranky and out-of-touch old codger, but 20 years ago? I know nothing of Katy Perry's oeuvre except the one line about "I kissed a girl and I liked it", and vowing that no music of hers would be played in our house until my daughter was off at college, but it seems inconceivable that it might have been 20 years ago. I suppose it was, but without some reflection and research, I would have expected Katy Perry to be an unknown girl in middle school playing with Barbie dolls 20 years ago.

@Althouse, thank you for the clarification. I'm trying to figure how desperate an ambulance-chaser one would have to be as a lawyer to take a defamation case like this.

"According to Rose, the alleged incident occurred when she was in her twenties. She responded to one fan who asked for details by writing: “She didn’t kiss me. She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.”

Yeah, that's pretty much all you can do in female on female rape.

I assumed base on the details that Katy Perry was a lesbo, but I guess not. She's married to "Orlando Bloom". Anyone she's some sort of singer.

As for defamation, shouldnt this be the sort of thing should be able to sue for, assuming its untrue? I suppose you'd have to show it was false, which is tough to do when its she said vs. she said. Trump had the same problem with what's her name. The clownish, but clever women, who claimed Trump was so smitten with her he tried to assault her 50 y/o body in a NYC Department store.

“She's married to "Orlando Bloom". Nope - never married him, though they have a child together. She’s now dating Justin Trudeau—yes, him—and I’m sure they deserve each other.

She's accused of rubbing her pussy in someone's face, which is actually what happens when she goes out with Justin Trudeau... 🤣

I see the blog value in this, but I have little respect for either party involved in this. Ruby Rose’s career has been dismal, and her success has come from attaching herself to others more successful, then trashing them when they were no longer needed. Here the timing seems to be a bit longer, and I don’t know the value in bringing the claims now, other than Rose has had zero spotlight.
As for Katy Perry, I find her far more talented than Rose, but Perry’s talent has been way overshadowed by her activism and choice to be seen as an activist. This has resulted in songs that are edgy and mainstream, thus contradictory and hated all around. They are good pop music, until you take time to listen to the lyrics and vomit. She married Russell Brand, which doesn’t speak well of her on many levels. Her history certainly makes Rose’s claims seem plausible, yet I don’t think the validity of the claims changes the decline of Perry’s stardom nor will be the final nail. If anything, I could see Perry making lemonade out of it for the bit of spotlight coming of it.

In other news, Blake Lively’s legal assault on Justin Baldoni continues its implosion along with her career.
