Hoping to be blessed with grandkids soon. Son and his wife say they are going to try for it this year.
In the meantime, there are no more than half a dozen people in the world who bring me more joy than my two little dogs. If I lived in one of those London neighborhoods where the self-appointed Sharia patrol (or worse, the police and other local authorities) tried to intimidate me away from walking my dog there, lest I upset "community harmony" by offending some illiterate Muslim savage, I think my response would earn me years in prison.

This is a sweet story. (If you’re diabetic, might be too sweet - read at your own risk) I was helping a friend run errands. He had injured his ankle, so he couldn’t drive. We stopped by Barnes & Noble at a very busy outdoor mall. We were waiting for a break in traffic to cross the main lane to get to the entrance. A young man saw us and walked into the middle of the lane to stop traffic for us. My friend was trying to limp along as fast as he could so the cars wouldn’t be held back for too long. A guy in the car behind the first car in line leaned out his car window and shouted, “Don’t hurry. We can wait.” Awwww . . .

An interview with the superintendent of St. Louis schools and students following the first semester of desegregation. 2. Iran is known to possess more than 400 kg (nearly 1/2 ton) of 60% highly enriched uranium, which could easily make—no further enrichment required—at least 10 fission bombs capable of at least a thousand tons TNT yield each. Any would make quite a hole in the center of a city.

China is resuming large-scale purchases of US liquefied natural gas (LNG) and crude oil in April 2026, but its a long haul around the Cape of Good Hope. If we could get off our asses, the Polar LNG concept, still in its infancy, would liquefy gas directly on the North Slope and ship it to Asian markets, leveraging Alaska’s shorter Arctic routes.
China is restarting imports of US energy, with tanker tracking data indicating that around 600,000 barrels per day of American crude oil are scheduled to be loaded in April.

That’s almost assuredly false. Unless they are including the enriched uranium that was buried under a mountain, after the attacks a year.

Thanks for the comments on the photograph. It was a very bleak, overcast morning with no hope of seeing the actual sun or even any little colors. There was at least a little texture to the clouds. I took only one picture, the one that conditions seem to dictate. Those trees are always there and I've photographed them many times. I've learned that there's an angle that makes them form an arch. I was surprised at how brown the picture looked. The iPhone did that. I wasn't choosing to brown it up. I didn't add a sepia effect or anything. The foreground is a little different in that they did a controlled burn the other day, so there's some charred black that's not usually there.
In short, I followed my practice, the same practice I've done 2 thousand times.
"Money Manger said... 1 kg of uranium is roughly the size of your cell phone. 900 kgs. would fit into a large suitcase. It would, of course, weigh a ton."
During the enrichment process, uranium is kept in the form of UF6 gas, in pressurized metal tanks, like scuba tank. I suppose the size of the tank is controlled by how much U235 you can put in it without it going critical (a very bad thing, trust me). Since civilian power reactors run on 3% enriched U, it's not a very large volume. Then the tanks have to be stored far enough apart that they don't support the chain reaction from the neutrons they are emitting. I don't know what those sizes and distance are, but Grok could probably figure it out for you. It would probably draw somebody's attention if you asked it.
I was surprised at how brown the picture looked. The iPhone did that

Pretty impressive for a regime that was decimated and barely alive. Almost like the White House and Pentagon lied and now service members are risking their lives.
ABC News confirms that Iran used advanced, passive infrared detection to shoot down the American F-15E fighter jet.
Passive infrared detection does not emit radar signals. As a result, it cannot be detected or jammed by American electronic warfare systems. That leaves our aircraft vulnerable.
“In a lot of places, based on tone, that might be construed as sarcastic taunting.” lol. That’s true. In this case, though, it was just a random convergence of kind people.
I see no reason to believe that all or most of the Iranian regime's >400 kg of 60% enriched uranium was made inaccessible to them during last year's B-2 bombings. Israeli intelligence, of course, is extremely good; but it doesn't seem unlikely to me that much of that uranium was being kept elsewhere at an unknown (to us) location—rather than hanging around in the vicinity of all the centrifuges, used for further enrichment, that were destroyed (along with other locales) in the raids.

If they don't trust Trump and Netanyahu we can expect the Iranians to try to keep this up until the Israeli elections in October, and the US midterm elections in November.
This worked for them in 1980-81 when they performatively held off releasing the hostages until a few minutes after Reagan's inauguration on January 20, 1981.
If you want to know the direction of US policy, just look at the coverage on Fox News. The people who run that channel are basically programming Trump's brain. They have been selling disastrous wars for years and effectively serving up Likudnik-style Israeli propaganda into U.S. households for over 20 years.
Converting uranium hexafluoride into metallic uranium is not an easy process, simple enough, but not easy and it requires considerable industrial infrastructure. Fluorine chemistry is a nasty business because fluorine literally reacts with everything. We need to take possession of the uranium, but in its current form, it doesn't constitute an immediate threat.

trump says the WAR will end soon(he knows Markets want to hear that and adjusts accordingly) the only problem,Its not trumps call. Trump can’t end it. Israel is neither going to stop its imperialist agenda (it invaded southern Lebanon) nor is it going to stop attacking Iran for the purpose of killing its leadership. US allies in the Gulf, especially Saudi Arabia, where Trump is heavily invested, want the war to continue. They prefer a US ground invasion to overthrow the regime. Secondly ,Iran’s regime is also not going to stop. It will continue to choke off the supply of oil at the Strait of Hormuz to hurt Trump while boosting sales of its own oil to China. It has established a tribute system in which “friendly” countries can pay a toll or suffer the consequences. Tolling offers an incentive for insurers. They would rather see a $100 million tanker carrying $200 million in oil pay a 1 percent tax than see it sinking to the bottom of the Persian Gulf. trump started something that he can't control by bombing his way through, this is not Venezuela. VLAD and Iran reaping the harvest on this as they sell their oil and Americans continue to get beat up. The guy in charge is a senile old man whose focus is about 2 minutes long. Another new Right wing WAR,who would have guessed! 7 MONTHS ,don't Boo VOTE!
In re the sepia tone of the picture. I took it that the muddy brown ground which was exposed for the first time in a long time was coloring the clouds with brown instead of white from snow. The ground does this to clouds. Out west I could distinctly see that the "gray" or "white" clouds about Mt. Rainier had icy pink and blue shades and when I came back east I could distinctly see that the "gray" or "white" clouds had green and brown shades. Now I'm so used to it that I can't "see" the brown/green/ (or, additionally at Madison) the blue-shading from a sky-reflecting lake. But it's there. Only in that picture, there's only brown. Probably the muddy ground all around the lake is reflecting up with no green and no sky-blue to soften the effect. We're going over to spring with hazy air and soft colors but passing through the mud season with hazy air and sepia tones.
“ I see no reason to believe that all or most of the Iranian regime's >400 kg of 60% enriched uranium was made inaccessible to them during last year's B-2 bombings.”
I see no reason to believe that it wasn’t.
This is just more Iranian/Chinese disinformation that we have seen deployed so heavily during this conflict.
No, the Iranians didn’t destroy all of our bases in the Mideast. They hit several bases, and damaged several (less than a dozen) of our larger planes. No, they don’t have very more missiles or missile launchers. And by now, their proxies don’t have that many either. No, they really don’t have a navy or an Air Force let. And as a result of that, no, they really can’t lay very many more mines anymore to close the Hormuz Strait. The danger is with the mines that they already laid, and especially the deeper ones. The deep ones are significantly larger, and don’t “time out”. And can’t be taken out very easily, as the shallow ones can, with conventional means.
Why Iranian/Chinese misinformation? Because it probably mostly is propagated by the Chinese, pushing it to its allies and bought leftists in this country in this country and Europe. We have watched the left (including the MSM) utilizing ChiCom propaganda for years now, just this way.
If the United States has already destroyed Iran’s military capabilities, the ability to strike Iran at any time should it try to access its enriched uranium, and no interest in regime change (or has already achieved it)—all of which Trump has stated repeatedly— then what is the point of continuing the war? How can it be justified to the American people, let alone the rest of the world?
Taking the oil" is a coherent military and economic response. However, it is unacceptable as a public justification for war—this is not a goal most Americans would support.
I'm an American, and I want our side to win. Even though I disagree with many things the Trump admin is doing, I'm unequivocal about which side I'm on.
I think the Trump administration fell for the idea that bombing key targets would force the outcome he wanted. But outcomes live in the minds of people. Unless you're willing to kill everyone, bombing alone may not change that.
We may have entered what I’d call a quagmire — we’ve run into a country with an extraordinary capacity to absorb bombing. The strategy of trying to decapitate the regime by killing the current leader’s father and wife, and hitting him hard personally, assumes it will make him more willing to negotiate. It wouldn’t have that effect on me.

I'm thinking of having it professionally printed and framed.
I'll hang it in my bedroom.

Javier Milei: “I thought being on the left was a mental problem. The empirical evidence is so overwhelming that it never worked anywhere, and they refused to accept it.” “But what I discovered is that being on the left is a disease of the soul. The left is built on envy, hatred, resentment, and unequal treatment under the law. They are very violent, and since they have no way or arguments to answer, they go for physical violence.”

“I hear that Iran may have 900 kg. of highly enriched uranium. What’s hard to appreciate is how ridiculously dense uranium is. 900 kg. is easy to move around. The trick is to get your adversary to dig it up & start moving it — then get it while it’s on the move.”
That’s almost assuredly false. Unless they are including the enriched uranium that was buried under a mountain, after the attacks a year.
1 kg of uranium is roughly the size of your cell phone. 900 kgs. would fit into a large suitcase. It would, of course, weigh a ton.
"Whoa. This picture is different. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's something technical. Maybe the phone's software is doing something to the picture. It just pops. In a painterly way. In fact, it looks like a very realistic painting. I don't know much about the technicals of digital pictures, so it's hard for me to guess what is going on. Painterly is the best I can do to describe what I'm seeing."
“I hear that…
Funny not funny how even seemingly learned humans still fall for that…

During the enrichment process, uranium is kept in the form of UF6 gas, in pressurized metal tanks, like scuba tank. I suppose the size of the tank is controlled by how much U235 you can put in it without it going critical (a very bad thing, trust me). Since civilian power reactors run on 3% enriched U, it's not a very large volume. Then the tanks have to be stored far enough apart that they don't support the chain reaction from the neutrons they are emitting. I don't know what those sizes and distance are, but Grok could probably figure it out for you. It would probably draw somebody's attention if you asked it.

I certainly don't. But I see that wall of text - with a few things that grab my eye - and wonder .... what in theee fuck?

I used to play the ponies. Emerald Downs (after Boeing bought and tore down Longacres), while popping Del Mar or any of the other tracks between live racing.
At no point did any racing form meld my brain into whatever it is he does.
One of your best photos!
It is a very nice picture.

Wonderful photo.

I appreciate good furniture, but the nature photos are better.

In fact Corot did paint a number of landscapes, scenes from mythology, which had a similar color scheme.
That leaves our aircraft vulnerable.

lol.

They had just started the enrichment to weapons grade back in 25
Converting uranium hexafluoride into metallic uranium is not an easy process, simple enough, but not easy and it requires considerable industrial infrastructure. Fluorine chemistry is a nasty business because fluorine literally reacts with everything. We need to take possession of the uranium, but in its current form, it doesn't constitute an immediate threat.
Brain rot is reaching necrotic levels
It's pleasantly ironic to me that photographs can prompt so much talk about painting.
Someone mentioned Corot, but I thought of that other Camille--Pissarro.
It may be time for another visit to the Dixon for some of the real thing.

I'm almost a neighbor to the Dixon. They have a couple IIRC and had a major Pissarro show some years ago that prompted my interest.

trump says the WAR will end soon(he knows Markets want to hear that and adjusts accordingly) the only problem,Its not trumps call.

Trump's Presidential Library must be built. Otherwise, Americans may forget what they have done to their nation.
Look at the peanut gallery here for evidence
Hey Begley, it’s April 4th, the war isn’t over yet.
