"Therefore, I am going to sign an Order instructing the Secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin, to immediately pay our TSA Agents..."

"... in order to address this Emergency Situation, and to quickly stop the Democrat Chaos at the Airports. It is not an easy thing to do, but I am going to do it! I want to thank our hardworking TSA Agents and also, ICE, for the incredible help they have given us at the Airports. I will not allow the Radical Left Democrats to hold our Country hostage any longer. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

Trump writes, at Truth Social.

Question: How is he doing this? Answer: It's not easy! But he's going to do it. Perhaps he means: Go ahead and sue me and at least the workers willbe paid until the courts stop me... if they dare.

In other news from the edge of executive power: Trump is putting his signature on U.S. currency.

UPDATE: Trump gets results: "The Senate voted early Friday to fund the Department of Homeland Security except for its immigration enforcement and deportation operations.... The measure, which passed the Senate by a voice vote at around 2:20 a.m., does not include funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement or the Border Patrol..." (NYT).

Yep, the Ds will sue to block this, putting the Ds on side of not paying TSA. Amazing! The ads will make themselves on this.

TSA workers need to be paid ,but through proper governing and from the people who are in charge of all 3 branches, not this slippery slope by an ajudicated felon regardless of his position.NO KING! The good thing is even if rejected as unconstitutional and Congress has to come back and the government has to pay it back,TSA workers keep it for doing work they legally need to be paid for, The chaos will continue with the administration. The Constitution is built on one of the simplest, strongest rules we have Congress controls the $$ but unfortumately they are all worms up in there ,no spines. Not the president. Not the agencies. Not the courts.
When a president starts paying federal workers during a shutdown without an appropriation, it’s not just a workaround it’s a breach of the core separation of powers.
And once a president crosses that line once, the question becomes:
What stops them from doing it again for something bigger? Stay tuned for more of the same incometence. And why didnt he do this 40 days ago?

Democrat Chaos? How can that be? I'm told (over and over and over and over again) by the MSM that it's Trump who creates chaos. They've been lying?

But sure, go ahead.

Article I, section 7, clause 1

"No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law"

And it’s that Congress has let him. The GOP could resolve this tomorrow.

Yeah, by backing down on deporting the democrats illegally imported voting base. Screw that.

What I don't like about this is that Trump is pulling an iron from the fire which will benefit the Ds. The long lines reminded travelers that the Ds were the cause of their inconvenience.

Bushman of the Kohlrabi said...

Dinky, he didn’t do it 40 days ago because he didn’t believe the Dems would put the security of this country at risk over the left’s love of criminal illegal aliens. Trump obviously had a higher opinion of Dems than they deserve.

If Trump can pay TSA agents now, then he could’ve paid them a month ago too. Nothing has changed between then and now other than his decision to do it.

All Hail our esteemed Senators, who have skipped town to take their treasured Easter Break. And while we are busy blaming Progressive Democrats for this sh*t sandwich, let us not forget it also carries an ample portion of RINO sauce, dripping off the plate. No SAVE act, no 'talking fillibuster', no 'nuke' the fillibuster, no keeping Congress in session until the MINORITY party is brought to heel, nope. None of it.

They should stick every single Congressman in a 6 hour TSA line, and then take a 6 hour shift change, and then a fresh 6 hour wait until the next shit change, and keep it up until they give up and drive home. I've never seen a more spineless and ineffective bunch of eager losers in my life.

Disingenuous of Trumpalos not to mention that both Republicans and Democrats have agreed upon a carveout that funds the rest of DHS sans ICE, and Trump told them "no" and has now attached the ridiculous rider of passing the SAVE act alongside budget negotiations as well, effectively killing any chance of actual compromise.

The next administration should move TSA under the dept of transportation.

Dave Begley said...

On Saturday, Judge Boasberg will enjoin the payments.

Compromise on what? Allowing voting fraud? Allowing illegals to stay?

Remember folks, this guy says he's a conservative.

Mason G said...

Do Democrats ever compromise (read: give up something they want to satisfy Republican demands) when they're in power?

So- ICE has been in airports for three days now. Surely, they must have shot and killed at least a few travelers by now but I can't find any news reports on this. I wonder- why not?

Original Mike said...

It's important to remember what the democrat's demands are:
Rejection of election security measures that virtually the whole world follows (and we all know why).
Millions of illegal aliens remain in our country (again, we all know why).

And if he did, you would've bitched about it then, too.

And it's all because we voted in a president who promised to get rid of illegal aliens and is actually doing it.

You lost. Deal with it like adults for a change.

Original Mike said...

To their credit, they believe all illegal aliens should stay, not just the rapists and murderers.

The exact same election rules are now in place when Republicans won the presidency, house and senate in 2024.

But now suddenly Republicans are unable to win another election without the SAVE Act because everyone has been cheating.

Trump won in 2016 - no cheating.

Trump lost on 2020 -- massive voter fraud (no voting rules changed)

Trump wins in 2024 — no cheating; totally fair elections (no voting rules changed).

Mid-terms will be massive fraud if we don't change the rules.

It will be fun crossing out Donald Trump’s signature on the new currency. In turn, MAGA diehards will be causing slowdowns at cash registers forcing clerks to search for undefaced bills.

Is it illegal to write on U.S. currency? Only if the government can prove “intent to render such bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt unfit to be reissued.”

Yeah, that was pretty much guaranteed to be illegal.

However, I know that credit card companies make special deals for gov't workers during a "shutdown", so part of it is just "how you go about doing it.

But as a general rule, no, we don't want "government" employees on the payroll of private individuals. SO I'm not sad that Musk wasn't allowed to do that

And the Dems stole several Senate and House races in 2024, even so. See all teh CA House races that flipped from GOP leading to Dem winning as "late votes trickled in", and the NV and WI Senate races.

That some elections are "outside the margin of fraud" doesn't mean that other elections aren't being stolen.

And as there's not actual and honest justification for opposing that people show gov't issued photo ID in order to vote, or to prove they're a US citizen in order to be allowed to register to vote, the only rational belief is that the people who are opposed to those things are engaging in vote fraud.

The fact that they repeatedly state that they're really afraid of ICE showing up at polling places (which no one subject to ICE should ever be near a polling place) tells us Dems really are expecting illegals to vote, and vote for them.

The Cracker Emcee Refulgent said...

Really? As I recall there was a rather significant change. One that third-world mobocracies reject as too inherently fraudulent.

Democrat motives for opposing deportation lead to the smearing of ICE. IF Republicans are harping on this, it’s not apparent.
