The people who were in charge of DHS were supposed to be serious homeland security protectors. And whatever you think about illegal immigration, and I am more conservative than most — it's a threat to the labor market. It's not a threat to anybody's safety.
And DHS needs to have the mandate of American safety first, and that means competent, efficient, experienced counter-terrorism, counter-espionage professionals, not, Trump’s team of Bozos.
The US is now engaged in a global war spanning from the Caspian to the Mediterranean to the Indian Ocean against the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism, so designated year after year by the US State Department.
The leading state sponsor of terrorism uses a lot of terrorism. And Iran has a long history of activating terror networks all over the world, including in the US. So you would think it would be for the administration leading the war, a matter of vital concern to have a non-Bozo as head of the Department of Homeland Security and maybe also a non-Bozo at the FBI.
But while telling everyone that one of the reasons that the US needs to fight Iran is the threat of terrorism, how unserious about terrorism are you if you put this team of Bozos in charge of defending the homeland against terror attack?

The Dems’ TSA cuts are now starting to kick in. PreCheck is shutdown now in LAS, and T4 B concourse security checkpoint in PHX. Everything was fine when we flew to LAS Wednesday. By Friday, when we flew back to PHX, it wasn’t. First time in a long time, that we had to go through normal security.

Lifting sanctions on Iran while simultaneously shooting them means that Iran is lower than an enemy. It is a dog you thrash then feed, then thrash again if it screws up again.

Brain dead. Trump didn’t declare war on Iran. Only Congress can. They never did, and were never asked to by Trump. We aren’t at war in Iran. We are only engaged in a little friendly kinetic action, which will very likely be over soon. When we bring in the Warthogs and Apaches (which we did a couple days ago), it’s essentially an indication that we have full air Supremecy, and they no longer have any air defense capabilities. I expect that there are also some Spectre gunships now too. They really don’t have much leadership left, and a gay Supreme Leader, missing a leg, likely recuperating in a Moscow hospital. And are mostly operating under last resort, decentralized, contingency plans.

And every single Dem Senator who is on the ballot in November will probably win and not be punished for this stunt. There's a few exceptions, but the Dems are usually very safe.
2. I ran into a fringe candidate for the House from Omaha. Melanie is her name. Yeah, that Melanie from the 60's. I asked her if she would vote to impeach Trump and she gave a very enthusiastic yes. "He violates the Constitution every single day!"

If any Dem wins the House seat from the "Blue Dot," that person will to impeach Trump regardless of the charge.

I read that Elon Musk has offered to chip in to pay the TSA agents during the shutdown. Of course, this would deprive Schumer of one of his most effective bargaining chips. As for sending ICE agents to fill in for TSA, this might not sit well with their union.

It boggles my mind. Iran, sending out ballistic missiles at double the range our 'best' intelligence, or anybody else's, had them pegged at. Iran, dropping cluster munitions on civilian targets, in violation of international law. Iran, bragging at the open of negotiations that they had enough enriched uranium to build at least 10 devices. Iran, through both its words and its actions plainly stating their objectives. Still, NATO apparently is indecisive on what it 'might' mean.
Seems like the Republicans should allow the TSA workers to be paid, doesn't it? I believe Democrats offered a carveout of the larger funding package to make this possible. Republicans would rather hold TSA workers hostage than negotiate sensible compromises to rein in ICE and Homeland Security. This is wrong in every direction.

It’s been often said on here that caring isn’t enough. That Democrats enact bad policies and their failures are excused because they care about the people. That their policies actually harm the people they care about. Maybe you’ve posted this yourself. I agree with this view. I also believe that irrespective of whoever or whatever Mr Trump cares about, many of his policies and actions will be harmful to America and to the people he professes to care about.
