I listened to a Rest of History podcast about the Shah's downfall which went through the Shah and Savak's problems.

History is filled with gardeners who ended up making the soil worse, the weeds stronger with completely new problems popping up.

It’s not a good thing to keep going if you’re not heading in the right direction. Also, when people say they have “no alternative,” it’s often just before they stop thinking.

40 trillion in debt, with everyone knowing a huge portion, if not most, is stolen or wasted is an obvious weed problem with obvious cures.
If you can't tell the weeds from produce, or are not willing to make that judgement, or the task is not worth the effort or too intimidating to you, then maybe you just aren't the one for the job, and you will fit right in cultivating this weed field.
