I see people trying to soften the illegals crackdown by saying ICE is targeting the most dangerous criminals first. When you see people try to minimize or deny this kind of fraud, you know they are either incredibly stupid or liars.

A few years ago I ran numbers on the CA budget history since about 1970. Without exception, it increased every year proportionally in REAL dollars, MORE than the increase in population, MORE than the increase in total resident income, MORE than the increase in resident wealth. Usually much more.
The CA Franchise Tax Board, is, not coincidentally, one of the most aggressive in collections. MUCH more than the IRS.

1. It's not just the Pentagon. It's everywhere.
2. Biden's 2024 to Jan 2025 spending was off-the-charts wild. He hired 2x or 3x more staff than needed in hopes of maintaining a Party edge for four years -- that's why all those around for <1 year were axed.
3. A lot of September end of FY spending follows from Congressional rules and deadlines. The agencies were "supposed" to spend earlier and tried to do it per the laws and allocations, but got tied up in contracting, PRA, furloughs, or (previously) DEI regulations and were delayed.
The elected DC crew abuses spending as conscious lawfare. Both sides.

That isn't at all the point of the lobster & steak story. The point was that contractors that lost their contracts due to their waste decided to make a stink about spending. They sent a list of Pentagon spending to members of Congress. Members of Congress that often don't care about waste and fraud ignored all the end year waste because they approved the budget. Instead, they decided to focus on something they thought would be an issue to voters: Steak and Lobster. After all, most voters don't want SNAP recipients getting steak and lobster. What they (and you) didn't realize is that 80% of people don't give a damn that the people that signed up to serve our country through the military get good food.
Now, if you want to talk about the money Boeing got for building Dreamliner, when SpaceX's Dragon won the competition and has been available for a fraction of the cost of either Boeing's Dreamliner or Lockheed Martin's Orion, or for that matter Falcon vs United Space Alliance Atlas or NASA's SLS; then complain away.
Federal contractors range from "barely scrimping by" to "let's burn $100 bills for fun." I've seen extremely generous contractor holiday parties with open bars, gift card handouts, weekly free lunches, and extremely nice offices. I've also seen holiday parties with bulk trays of pasta, salad, and paper plates.
The steak & lobster story does seem to be sour grapes, as federal employees often live a life of surface frugality with stealth benefits worth big money (e.g., healthcare; retirement; leave). Serving luxury meals is a pittance compared to the lifetime benefits paid. This story is just an update to the anti-Reagan $600 hammer lie.

I am quite confident that there is massive fraud in the Defense Department, and that both Republicans and Democrats participate and benefit. I am also convinced (mainly by Mike Benz) that there are tens and possibly hundreds of billions of dollars of USAID-type political fraud/propaganda spending in the Defense Department. I am very much in favor of investigating, exposing, prosecuting and ending as much of that fraud as is reasonably possible. Let the chips fall where they may.

The governor is criticizing a reporter for exposing these rich assholes that got rich by stealing money set aside for healthcare. If it was a doctor with 15 year’s surgery experience driving off in a Maybach, I’m sure we would hear about them being the reason for high healthcare costs. Instead, it was con artist that the governor defends.
