Did Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, or Joe Biden tell Trump, about Iran, "I wish I did what you did"?

Trump made it a guessing game:
“He said, ‘I wish I did what you did,’” Mr. Trump said. “I don’t want to get into ‘who,’ I don’t want to get him into trouble.”

But he did get into who, because, when asked, he said it was not George W. Bush. He also said it was "'a member of a party' that detests him" and someone who “happens to like me, and I like that person, who is a smart person.” Then it's not Biden, right? And probably not Obama. Does Obama even talk to Trump? My guess is Clinton. Or Trump is lying.

Who said "I wish I did what you did" to Trump?

Did Trump specifically say an ex-US President?

Bill's the only option capable of rational thought. Barack does what Susan tells him to do and Joe is Joe...

I think it was Clinton, but Trump and Obama were very chatty and friendly at Carter's funeral.

"Did Trump specifically say an ex-US President?"

According to the NYT headline and the first sentence of the article he did.

I see your point: Maybe he meant a president of some other country.

The Times says it was one "of the four living predecessors he was referring to." But that is the Times interpretation. It's possible that Trump was being cagey and not technically lying. If that's what you think, the poll gives you no option.

When Bill said 'I wish I did what you did' he was referring to Melania.

the simple answer to the poll, is that the NYTs was the one lying

It can't be Biden. Trump considers him too stupid and just an auto-pen puppet.

Given the timeline and events of the US/Iran clashes, it could reasonably be Clinton or Obama. Obama may have come to regret his appeasement efforts. Clinton's Epstein testimony revealed that he has become an OPENLY dirty old man...so I'm not sure what sort of intelligent conversation he may have had with Trump.

If it was a former US President, I’m going with the aspirin factory guy.

If I was a leftist with a sense of humor I'd say it was Clinton. But he was saying that to Trump when they were at Epstein's Island.
Thankfully, I'm not a leftist.

Maybe this is what Clinton agrees with:

The United States is allowing Iranian oil tankers to transit the Strait of Hormuz, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNBC on Monday.

"The Iranian ships have been getting out already, and we've let that happen to supply the rest of the world," Bessent told CNBC's Brian Sullivan in a "Squawk Box" interview in Paris. The Treasury secretary is in France for trade talks with China.

But that is the Times interpretation.

...you need to get quicker at assuming NYT is lying...

I would say clinton he has shown signs of lucidity

Bill was about getting laid, not about hating America. So I could see him saying that.

I could also see Trump just lying about it.

Must confess, I don't care much either way. I don't base my thoughts / beliefs of utterances from Trump, or any Democrat.

And this should have been done decades ago

narciso said...

Obama i could never see that about

To Trump anyone who likes him is "smart". I'd say Obama. Biden is too much of an asshole and tried to destroy Trump. Clinton hates Trump for denying him and Hillary the White House. That leaves Obama.

Of course, Biden may be peeved over the way the D's (including his "buddies" Obama and Hillary Clinton) pushed him out. So I could see him calling up Trump and saying "C'mon man, I wished I'd done that".

So, I dont think its Bill Clinton. I've always sensed that Trump has an requited love affair with Bush. He seemed to have a pained face when he said "No, it wasn't Bush". Same at the Funeral for Carter, Trump seemed upset that Bush just brushed by him, while giving Obama a playful tap in the stomach.

He hired Barr after Bush recommended him. And Wiles is also connnected to the Bushes.

No way its Clinton. Its Biden. Or Obama.

Obama is pro islamist death/rape/murder cult and a totalitarian. So no.

Biden doesn't even know what room he is in. So no.

Jimmy Carter is dead. Which means he is currently voting for democrats in Fulton Co. Georgia. But no.

Clinton was busy taking credit for the economic boom from Reagan and Gingrich's contract with America for himself, and had no benefit for himself to deal with Iran's hostilities. Plus his wife was getting bribes from the UN, and his VP was getting bribes from China. So he was too busy betraying the USA and selling out to our enemies. He probably wishes he did to satisfy his own narcissisism, but would never admit it.

Trump is trying to goad the leftist media on this.

Must be Clinton. Why? Could be Biden but I don't think he would count someone so affected by dementia. Can't be Obama. Obama hates America, truly. Obama openly actively supported Iran and actively opposed the freedom movement there. He just hates America. I recall Clinton - after 9/11 - regretting (and I may be misremembering) that nothing really happened on his watch that could have allowed him to be a great president. It was just a calm 8 y. I recall being greatly disturbed by that. The World Trade Center was bombed when he was president. That's nothing?

Of course after he did nothing we had one of our embassies bombed, then another. Then the USS Cole. And I think Khobar Towers was on his watch.

Just because he never responded and so because of that eventually the Towers came down is not the same as nothing happened on his watch. He just chose not to address multiple major terror events.

My recollection is he regretted not having an event occur on his watch that would have allowed for meaningful action. So that would be consistent with this post.

Trump's war in Iran raises new questions about Joe Biden's approach to foreign policy.

RCOCEAN II said...

Interesting how these ex-POTUS' Clinton, Biden, Bush all reveled their true colors when Trump got elected. All their phony principles about "Executive Privilage" and "The balance between the 3 branches" and "Protecting Presidential power" went out the window. Along with 100 years of tradition.

Suddenly, it was OK to jail a POTUS after he left office. Or impeachment him twice over nothing. Or raid his residence. Or put all his associates on trial for mickey mouse process crimes. IRC, Bush 43 said zero. He was probably sending secret messages to Biden telling him to "keep it up".

But Trump still craves their support. Sad.

"Very weak on security, good thing he’s out": ~ Trump referring to Joe Kent

But if Kent was "very weak on security", why was he the director of the US National Counterterrorism Center?

I voted Clinton. That boy is a charmer. Of course he said that to Trump. And Trump likes him better for it.

Aggie said...

I voted 'Clinton' on the premise that he said something in his recent Congressional appearance that cleared Trump of the Epstein Files accusations. I don't think Clinton is 'mean', like Hillary is. I'll say something else: I think Clinton would have dreaded being in the White House with 'President' Hillary, I think he would have been absolutely miserable. I think he's secretly glad she didn't win.

The Cracker Emcee Refulgent said...

Clinton, absolutely. He has reason to stay on Trump’s good side. And I’m guessing that, ego-wise, there’s more than a little affinity there.

If it happened, it was Clinton. It was a surprise when Trump and Obama were all chatty and friendly at the funeral, but I can't imagine that they talk to each other or that Obama would support Trump's actions. Biden is even less likely. Clinton and Trump were friends of a sort. The Clintons came to Trump's wedding. And Bill and Don have a common enemy: Hillary.

Still, it could be a half-truth. Somebody could have told Trump, truthfully or not, that a past president had praised his action, and Trump relates it as something he was told directly.
