"Adam Schiff falls right into Bill Maher’s trap..."

And earlier in last night's show:

It's fair to suggest that enticing Adam Schiff into looking foolish is like shooting fish in a barrel.

The applause from the studio audience is best described as grudgingly given.

The line about the Trump dance was funny.

It’s not like Schiff is going anywhere. He can say whatever he likes and you’ll still get him as a side order with any Democrat vote in…

There should be an IQ test for anyone running for congress.

Hate hate hate Schiff, but i thought he handled that well. Certainly didn't 'fall into Maher's trap."

One could argue Obama sought Congressional approval for Syria knowing he wouldn’t get it so that he could save face wrt his red line threat. Russia bailed him out, conveniently.

Breezy said...

He did not seek approval when he invaded Libya.

Funny clip of Schiff. Of course the greasy grifter immediately slithered away from the substance of Obama’s statement, because it was the famous year-long bombing of Libya that Obama was defending. Schiff pretends (or purposefully lies) by linking the statement to Syria, the infamous “don’t cross that red line” episode where Obama typically chickened out after talking tough and didn’t go after Assad.

How embarrassing! Nobody believes it was Schiff talking Obama out of it. The president failed to do what he said. The old quote from Pelosi was truer.

…are you talking a minimum standard a or maximum? The latter is dumber but more pliable…

Obama lost America’s credibility when he failed to back up his red line.

Trump is in the middle of restoring it.

I see him in the trap agreeing that the statement is too vague. He would never willingly criticize Saint Obama. That’s why he switches from the subject of Obama’s comment, Libya, to shifty Schiff to the Syria endeavor, making Obama’s comment seem reasonable in context.

Right after he said it was too vague. Flippity flop.

Schiff has the most punchable face ever.

Good for Maher and his sane take.

This caught Schiff not because he is stupid but because he thought he was on friendly ground, and he wasn't looking for this kind of a stunt by Maher.

We’ll see- if we don’t another peep about ICE roundups, deportation numbers, Somali-style fraud we’ll know that was part of a deal, too…

Politics aside i believe Maher has the personality quirk of lking to offend people. Few public figures can pull that off and still be successful though musician Frank Zappa and comedian Mort Sahl come to mind. He'll gank anybody, political friend or foe alike.

I have this queued up for listening today. JFC. Schiff AND Lemon?!.

I hate the overkill on audience applause that is endemic to that show.

It reminds me of the episode of Silicon Valley where the boys of Pied Piper compute the number of guys that could be jerked off if you did it by two cocks in each hand.

For some reason Adam Schiff reminds me of a cross between John Lithgow and that guy who played Duck Phillips in Mad Men although maybe a little less effeminate than the former and maybe a little less contemptible than the latter.

What about for anyone running for POTUS? That would have prevented Trump any possible chance of running for any elective position, even head of the local Rotary Club, much less higher office!

Whether you agree or not with Trump’s politics, he is quite obviously one of the top five presidents in U.S. history in terms of political strategy and rhetorical persuasion. He’s a genius.

By the way, let’s look at Trump in terms of tech: All the top VC capitalists and CEOs of major tech have now lined up behind Trump, particularly for his support of AI development and the necessary infrastructure to support AI. Diamandis, Andreessen, Pichai, Musk, all the great nerds of AI now support Trump.

Of course Bill maher supports our attacking Iran, he's Jewish, and he was in favor the terror bombing of Gaza. I'd call him a neo-con, except he's more like a neo-lib.

And that's to be expected. HBO would'nt give him a show otherwise. If you don't reflect the view of the Top HBO execs, you're out.

finally, Good grief he just get uglier and weirder looking. He cant even look good in suit. Its like a frail body of a 14 y/o boy with a giant 60 y/o man's head on top.

RCOCEAN II said...

As for Schiff, he's the biggest liar in Congress, so naturally the D's love him and made him their spokesman. No matter how clownish and corrupt the R's are, the D's always seem to top them.

Adam Schiff is a loathsome politician, but he handled the question competently. Schiff's answer was a more substantive version of, "Yeah, I didn't like when Obama did it." That's reasonable.

Big picture, Bill Maher is right and the Democrats will look bad for knee jerk opposition.

The mullahs in Iran have been trouble for 40 years, surrounding countries agree and China and Russia are staying out of it.

So far, it's been a great war. Americans like a righteous beat down. Iran has a swarm of cheap drones, we have expensive missiles, and laser confusers and cheap drones. Iran has those little swift boats to overwhelm our big ships, but we have A-10's that go brrrrrrt.

In a month, Iran could end up as a shit show, but top levels of mullah management are dead and their military and ability to rebuild their military, are gone. Those are tangible results.

We are used to military shit shows that are years long, accomplish nothing, and leave us looking weak. Iran is not going to hurt Trump's brand.

Schiff showing how he has survived in Congress, by being more slippery than he appears. Maher could have done a more complete job of setting the hook by leading him with a few more lines, making him commit to thinking it was Trump he was speaking of.

Schiff slipped the hook by changing the subject to Syria, so he could think of a way to exit the situation. He's a politician. It's a given that he lies for a living.

Beyond a pencil-neck geek, Schiff will become dictionary examples for "Snake" and "Psychopath" and "Corrupt."

From 2001 to 2015, Schiff was a Blue-Dog Democrat. You know, a part of the conservative left like Joe Manchin. You can't get from there to here with any semblance of honesty.
