"Yes we've seen instances where one driver has a cdl (license). With 4-5 guys in the truck. The truck is constantly rolling. So it's always making money. They cut holes in the flooring of the truck so they don't have to stop & use restrooms. They'll load a 50gal drum into the sleeper cab for extra fuel & siphon it (stealing) from other trucks. They create other businesses, apply for another DOT# & let it sit. If & when they lose one authority they have another one waiting in the wings. This is just ONE of the ways they've been operating."

Saint Croix said...: My Mom watches MS NOW. She's 84, I think she's the target demo. And I'm like, "Mom, let's change the channel." And we watch a show on Netflix. We started The Diplomat. So far it's really good, and really annoying, simultaneously, which is a neat trick. (The Iranians are innocent, and English people are throwing rocks at their embassy, which is a weird take on reality). Obviously the writers are liberals, but they don't have TDS, which is refreshing.

I think the president (Michael McKean) is supposed to be a Democrat just like Joe Biden, which means he's old and funny and sharp as a tack. Although his aides say he's a loose cannon and you can't leave him alone with foreign dignitaries because you never know what he's going to say next. I'm like, hoo boy. Also the show is still mad at George Bush and Colin Powell. So the politics under the show is way messed up, but the show itself is fun.

I think the two main ambassadors are supposed to be like Bill and Hillary. Except without the cheating. "He never cheats." But he's a lovable rogue, and she still wants to kill him. The acting in the show is really good (Kari Russell and Rufus Sewell).

We're three episodes in season 1 (2023), and the USA is about to go to war with Iran, so it's almost prophetic. They started this show during the Biden administration. We'll see how it goes. Maybe TDS will catch them at some point. It's fun diplomat shenanigans.; 2/28/26, 5:34 AM

Saint Croix said...: Pretty good article in NPR. One interesting thing I found out is that Saturday is like Monday in Iran. It's the first day of the work-week. (Thursdays and Fridays are the weekend in Iran). They are completely off-Sabbath, apparently.

Iran is alleging that we blew up a school. You'd have to show photographs for me to start to believe anything they say. Anyway, an attack on a Saturday is an attack when people are working and in those buildings.

Electricity is a state matter as all this is determined by state government policy and overseen by their PUC's.
