Transcript:
A short time ago, the United States military began major combat operations in Iran. Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very hard, terrible people. Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas, and our allies throughout the world.
For 47 years, the Iranian regime has chanted ‘Death to America’ and waged an unending campaign of bloodshed and mass murder targeting the United States, our troops and the innocent people in many, many countries. Among the regime’s very first acts was to back a violent takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, holding dozens of American hostages for 444 days. In 1983, Iran’s proxies carried out the Marine barracks bombing in Beirut that killed 241 American military personnel. In 2000, they knew and were probably involved with the attack on the USS Cole. Many died. Iranian forces killed and maimed hundreds of American service members in Iraq.
The regime’s proxies have continued to launch countless attacks against American forces stationed in the Middle East in recent years, as well as U.S. naval and commercial vessels in international shipping lands. It’s been mass terror, and we’re not going to put up with it any longer. From Lebanon to Yemen and Syria to Iraq, the regime has armed, trained and funded terrorist militias that have soaked the earth with blood and guts, and it was Iran’s proxy, Hamas, that launched the monstrous October 7 attacks on Israel, slaughtering more than 1,000 innocent people, including 46 Americans, while taking 12 of our citizens hostage. It was brutal, something like the world has never seen before.
Iran is the world’s No. 1 state sponsor of terror and just recently killed tens of thousands of its own citizens on the street as they protested.
It has always been the policy of the United States, in particular, my administration, that this terrorist regime can never have a nuclear weapon. I’ll say it again. They can never have a nuclear weapon. That is why, in Operation Midnight Hammer last June, we obliterated the regime’s nuclear program at Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. After that attack, we warned them never to resume their malicious pursuit of nuclear weapons, and we sought repeatedly to make a deal. We tried. They wanted to do it. They didn’t want to do it. Again, they wanted to do it. They didn’t want to do it. They didn’t know what was happening. They just wanted to practice evil, but Iran refused, just as it has for decades and decades. They rejected every opportunity to renounce their nuclear ambitions, and we can’t take it anymore.
Instead, they attempted to rebuild their nuclear program and to continue developing long-range missiles that can now threaten our very good friends and allies in Europe, our troops stationed overseas and could soon reach the American homeland. Just imagine how emboldened this regime would be if they ever had and actually were armed with nuclear weapons as a means to deliver their message.
For these reasons, the United States military has undertaken a massive and ongoing operation to prevent this very wicked, radical dictatorship from threatening America and our core national security interests. We are going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground. It will be totally, again, obliterated. We are going to annihilate their navy. We are going to ensure that the region’s terrorist proxies can no longer destabilize the region or the world and attack our forces, and no longer use their IEDs or roadside bombs, as they are sometimes called to so gravely wound and kill thousands and thousands of people, including many Americans. And we will ensure that Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon. It’s a very simple message. They will never have a nuclear weapon.
This regime will soon learn that no one should challenge the strength and might of the United States Armed Forces. I built and rebuilt our military in my first administration, and there is no military on Earth even close to its power, strength or sophistication. My administration has taken every possible step to minimize the risk to U.S. personnel in the region. Even so, and I do not make this statement lightly, the Iranian regime seeks to kill. The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties. That often happens in war, but we’re doing this not for now. We’re doing this for the future, and it is a noble mission.
We pray for every service member as they selflessly risk their lives to ensure that Americans and our children will never be threatened by a nuclear-armed Iran. We ask God to protect all of our heroes in harm’s way, and we trust that with his help, the men and women of the armed forces will prevail. We have the greatest in the world, and they will prevail.
To the members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, the armed forces and all of the police, I say tonight that you must lay down your weapons and have complete immunity, or in the alternative, face certain death. So, lay down your arms. You will be treated fairly with total immunity, or you will face certain death.
Finally, to the great, proud people of Iran, I say tonight that the hour of your freedom is at hand. Stay sheltered. Don’t leave your home. It’s very dangerous outside. Bombs will be dropping everywhere. When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will be, probably, your only chance for generations.
For many years, you have asked for America’s help, but you never got it. No president was willing to do what I am willing to do tonight. Now you have a president who is giving you what you want. So let’s see how you respond. America is backing you with overwhelming strength and devastating force.
Now is the time to seize control of your destiny and to unleash the prosperous and glorious future that is close within your reach. This is the moment for action. Do not let it pass.
May God bless the brave men and women of America’s Armed Forces. May God bless the United States of America. May God bless you all. Thank you.

Not exactly a surprise attack.
I expect few, if any surprises from the Peanut Gallery as well.
Let’s hope this works out well. Fingers crossed.
Tough one for a Trump supporter who voted him partly because he promised to not fight foreign wars.
I thought we were done doing "regime change".
Godspeed to our troops and to the Iranian people. DJT is risking his presidency on doing something he believes is the right thing to do. I respect that. I give inga and kak 30 seconds before sniping that DJT is starting a war to avoid a deposition over THE EPSTEIN FIIIIIIILLLLLLLLESSSSS.
Raise your hand if you're hard as the Rock of Gilbralter right now... (Welcome to the party, annie. Better late than never, eh?)
Operation Midnight Hammer did not dissuade the Mullahs for some reason.
Aw... fingers crossed. How cute.
And a man allegedly wrote that. Lol

Carpe diem.

See the previous thread. lol
All of the Gulf States and the Kingdom of Jordan are launching missiles as well. Bahrain took a hit from Iran. But Fifth Fleet was most likely onboard a carrier already. I wonder though, which admirals and generals will Trump allow to be there at the end game of Iran?
I just finished reading the transcript and there is no mention of "boots on the ground". I thought it was impossible to bring about "regime change" without boots on the ground.
My daughter-in-law in Orange County said her dad was stuck in Tehran’s traffic. My son and his wife were up all night.
The Iranian regime was implacably committed to geographic expanding by the use of force. Their failure to come to terms with Trump whey they were defensively hopeless shows their irrationality. Military actions was, unfortunately, the only way to stop them
I have no doubt that we will win this.
Lem:
The Iranian people will rise up.
Its striking they would hit near manama most of the fleet is in the gulf
Experts have said that Iran is not like Venezuela, where once the head was taken out/arrested, the rest of the regime would scatter. Iran has hundreds, if not thousands of vipers waiting in the wings to continue their plans.
Pure Trump that he is wearing that USA hat during that address.
Well we only struck one node in caracas we left cabello and other players in place
"The Iranian people will rise up."
That's a thin tread to hang a massive undertaking like Trump just announced.
I bet on Kalshi that the Supreme Leader would be out. The value of that bet skyrocketed. I’m rich!
Really the peanut gallery is like charlie browns teacher at this point
Lem: France’s Sun King and the Acien Regime all thought they’d stay in power. 90 million Iranians will not be denied.
What we know is they will always sude against America
AI: "The initial "shock and awe" bombing campaign of Iraq in 2003 lasted for approximately one day before the main American-led ground troops initiated their invasion."
What happens when the Air Force runs out of targets and the Iranian People don't do what they are supposed to. I'm praying, but, honestly, I'm very pessimistic.
This is a primary source for what is happening in Iran.
You wont get anything like this from the media. This will give you an idea of what is actually going on there.
Killing the Mullahs is worth a few missiles.

It isn't the same as other countries where the conflict is driven by tribal conflict.
This is an uprising driven by desperation, thirst, and starvation.
Well a one day bombardment was arrogance, the question is tegarding larger targets like kharg island and what that would provoke the iranians to hit
So Blitzed Wolf just asked a Commie Dem congress critter if Iran was the worldwide leader in terrorism. He couldn’t / wouldn’t answer the question.
Blitzer is still around?
Early returns suggest that tying the strikes to The Epstein files is so idiotic that only an Igna Ramis would believe it.

I was not ever concerned about the "Wars."
I was concerned about the corruption and misapplication of resources.
Everyone knows at one level or another that you minimize war. You never completely avoid war. War will always find you.
Trump is using our Military as leverage to minimize war. He is applying the military in a way that everyone can clearly see will reduce future conflict.
Killing the mullahs instantly makes the ME a more peaceful place.
Trump does say --"The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties."
I take that to mean at least some boots on the ground?
God Bless & Protect our troops and support teams. Not at all happy about war, but I'm pretty confident that Trump isn't, either. I think the intelligence services have probably provided the concluive material required to make the decision an inevitable one, now history will either bear it out or conclude otherwise. I hope it's over quickly, and with a minimal of collateral suffering.
"I bet on Kalshi that the Supreme Leader would be out."
I read, albeit not the most reliable of sources, that the Supreme Leader fled.
One mighr need teams to lase the targets

We have long range drones that can do that.
The boots on the ground will be mostly talking and organizing.
Would any of the lib commenters on this blog explain to me why Obama shipped pallets of cash to the Iranian mullahs? Medicaid? Education? SNAP benefits? High speed rail? Drone production? <<<<<< bingo!
though, if the Supreme Leader managed to flee, it only be a matter of days before we would find him. With the tech we have now, our gov knows everything they are interested in knowing. I'm sure of it.

NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT EPSTEIN TODAY!
Thank you for your attention to this matter
Obana sent tens of billions to iran he even let them have a dronne they undoubtedly reverse engineered along with the drone pilot nurges witte who defected in 2013
I'm optimistic, because our military is the absolute best, especially at this, and in this place. We sacrifice lots of money rather than our soldiers. I think we've learned and developed this ability well. My only concern is that Allah may run out of virgins. Good luck to the Iranian people, and our military risking everything for this opportunity at a lasting peace after 50 years of Islamist tyranny.
But it wasnt widely known till 2019
At this point, it's 90% fog of war with a heaping dollop of disinformation from all sides.
I think the intelligence services have probably provided the concluive material required to make the decision an inevitable one, now history will either bear it out or conclude otherwise.
After the fiasco of the Saddam's WMD, what makes you believe that they got it right this time?
"NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT EPSTEIN TODAY!"
That's your job. How's it working out?
May the kinetics be quick and effective, and all of our brave men and women safely returned home.
""Remember that I predicted a long time ago that President Obama will attack Iran because of his inability to negotiate properly - not skilled!" - Trump, Nov 11, 2013"
Trump was wrong about Obama, but he has proven beyond a doubt that negotiation isn't possible without letting them continue as a threat and a source of unending war. Obama accepted appeasement to avoid this, and it was an abject failure. Trump made sure this was necessary, and then did the only logical thing left.
I voted for Trump in part because I thought he wasn’t a neocon. Sigh.
My general reaction to this news this morning was one of unease.
..."After the fiasco of the Saddam's WMD, what makes you believe that they got it right this time? ..."
How does this even make sense? Didn't we just eradicate their nuclear capability a few months ago? Isn't it their refusal to negotiate a deal, and their steadfast commitment to continuing pursuit of nuclear weapons that has resulted in this? So far, the results speak pretty clearly that Iran hasn't much to respond with. But only time is going to bring clarity.
An effective opposition is important, so you need to try harder.
Agenda-Free TV one guy covering it. He goes silent when he has nothing new instead of talking.
We have given the regime plenty of off ramps but they most behave along the lines of velayat al fagih
What is the casus belli now that was not there after 9/11?
(I just want to use the word 'casus belli')
Trump used the length of time Iran has been doing mischief as a enough-is-enough reason to go after them. But, couldn't the argument be made that because they have been doing mischief for so long, they have in effect become a putative Palestinian State. Can't live with them, can't shoot them.
Your doctor tells you that you have a small, cancerous tumor. It's not fatal yet, but it's inevitable that if not treated it will be eventually. It's gradually debilitating. You are healthy and strong now and could easily handle having it removed, but there is a very good chance you won't be able to in the future. Do you go for it now?
Fix this problem now or wait for a terrorist state to have a nuclear weapon. It was clear that Iran was never going to give up that ambition.
Wars start for all kinds of just reasons... it's the ending that's the hard part. I don't see how this ends quickly. Granted, the fog/misinformation is the thickest, right now. Like 'nothing we have ever seen before' to use Trumpian parlance.
Didn't we just eradicate their nuclear capability a few months ago? Isn't it their refusal to negotiate a deal, and their steadfast commitment to continuing pursuit of nuclear weapons that has resulted in this?
Actually, we "obliterated" their nuclear program. Yet, somehow they are just a week away from having a bomb. And it takes at least two parties to negotiate a deal. Trump is not interested in a deal.
As for Iran's pursuit of a nuclear weapon, Iran has stated repeatedly they are not pursuing nuclear weapons. You and Trump may not believe them (I don't either) but that doesn't Trump the right to lie and claim they have never said it.
Who believes that any number or quality of negotiations was going to result in a meaningful resolution? It's absurd to even suggest it. So, there were really only two possibilities: the Iranians eventually get the means to attack America with lethal force, or we attack their regime leaders (at a minimum) and provide an opportunity for their people to retake control of their country. I voted for #2 to happen in due time with the only President in my lifetime who would take this option instead of #1. And he did.
I voted for #2 to happen in due time with the only President in my lifetime who would take this option instead of #1. And he did.
So your concern about the constitution was bullshit. You wanted and voted for a president who is apparently willing to ignore the constitution. Only congress can declare war and we set up the U.N. and made this type of war criminal.
"You and Trump may not believe them (I don't either) but that doesn't Trump the right to lie and claim they have never said it."
Fredder, if someone repeated lies to you about something and then says the same lie again, what is the purpose of repeating their lie for them? The real lie would be to pretend you believe them, which is what past Presidents have done.
Looks like Iran is hitting back
Achilles:
Ammogold TV just ran a video by an Iranian who explained the economic desperation of the people. Very similar to France before their Revolution. My French Revolution was one of my best classes at Creighton University.
Thanks for the link!
Trump used the length of time Iran has been doing mischief as a enough-is-enough reason to go after them.
Which is not enough, even if you have congressional authority (which he does not).
That was team america lame
"Fix this problem now or wait for a terrorist state to have a nuclear weapon. It was clear that Iran was never going to give up that ambition."
That's as good as it gets, doesn't it?
Skip the Rubio rollout at the UN...
In fairness. We, the world did say "Never Again" following the uncovering of the Nazi Horrors. It would only take on Nuke to wipe out the Jewish State. They can't afford to take any chances.
But, at the same time, part of me says, this might very well be the start of yet another unending war were American men and women, and perhaps transgender Americans too, will lift the heaviest burden of all, the cost in blood and treasure.
Leland - lol.
The real lie would be to pretend you believe them, which is what past Presidents have done.
When did a president believe them? I thought the whole purpose of a deal was the good ol' Reaganite "trust but verify".
And the response should be: "they said it, but we don't believe them", not "they never said it", not compounding the lie with a second one.
THis is being done for Israel. Iran is no threat to the USA. Its 6000 miles away and has the GDP of New Jersey. Too bad Trump has gone down this road, MAGA was supposed to be about no more dumb useless wars, not going around the world attaking small countries.
The Senate doesnt actually debate when it did in 2002, they ignored the consequences of their decisions
Trump is gunning for the Noble Peace Prize again
@narcosi ... According to Trent Telco on X we took out the power plant on Kharg Island.

No it isn't.
You don't have to watch the video I posted. You can remain ignorant.
But don't pretend you know why this is happening.
There's a certain amount you can understand by knowing history and geography. You can understand why the mullahs came in. You can understand why they support terror. You can understand why Trump hit their bombmaking and why it was Trump, not the earlier Presidents. But you can't "understand" why they would try to re-establish bomb making or why they would shoot thousands of protestors. You just have to know that certain people become irrational when they've had power. Putin is one, the mullahs are another. Facing such people, war is inevitable. It's just whether your leaders will let you win or anyhow, have a chance to win. Trump is giving us a chance. And the Iranians, a chance. I knew he would because he loves this country. Have the America haters rotted out the Pentagon and the Army such that Hegseth hasn't been able to bring it back enough for us to win? We had to go, we did what we had to, and now we wait.
Bill and HIllary invited Epstein and Maxwell to Chelsea's wedding in 2010.

How you can connect the Iraq WMD fiasco to the Trump Administration is amazing.
Are you suggesting that Iran’s leaders were just joking when they threatened us and Israel with nuclear destruction?

It would be more analogous to Egypt and supplanting the Muslim brotherhood with Mubarak.
The Persians are a high IQ organized people. They will be able to handle themselves.
I don’t see this going on too long. The Supreme Leader has fled somewhere, either to his deeply buried bunker or to Russia. His top minions are apparently all together, either in their own deeply buried bunker, or paradise. Power to Kharg Island is shutdown, eliminating Iranian oil exports, as well as the cash to pay the paramilitary that keeps the citizenry under control, with brutal rapes and murders (some 60,000 deaths over the last month or so). How long do they fight on, unpaid, with their overlords fat, dumb, happy, and relatively safe, with their Iranian masses desiring nothing more than their brutal deaths. And when do they cut and run, to save their own lives?
My prediction is that this war is going to be very quickly over. I expect that the paramilitary that keeps the populace quelled, will, very quickly, cut and run for their lives.
Achilles.
RC isn’t ignorant. His Jew hatred rules his mind.
One cannot reason with such individuals.
They re not called NEOCONS for no reason .How many countries has trump bombed so far 8-9? He pulled the vcon on those who said he wont start wars,,"WE WONT GET FOOLED AGAIN" WRONG! Yeah lets watch the most chaotic manned by knucklehead admin in history F THIS UP .but right NO EPSTEIN,RAPE VICTIMS MISSING FILES TALK THS WEEK,,,its working huh :( war mongers will always be in its glory of war ,the $$$ maker)wmd's gulf of tonkin, regime change the IMPERIAL ARMY will teach you a lesson, :( let the mid east know F RAMADAN it dont mean nothing just like Easter its all a show.... :( GOD WILLS IT, it never changes)
Are you suggesting that Iran’s leaders were just joking when they threatened us and Israel with nuclear destruction?
Except, like Trump, you are making this shit up. Only two of the three current belligerents has nuclear weapons, and it ain't Iran.
"When did a president believe them? I thought the whole purpose of a deal was the good ol' Reaganite "trust but verify"."
I didn't say they believed them (I hope they didn't). I said they pretended they did. Trump is not. He's the one who is not lying about it. There was no verify. Obama let them negotiate no real inspections, and accepted that. So did he trust them, or just screw us over knowing they would not keep their word? Trump is not that foolish or dishonest. You pick which. I say he's neither.
Freder, your expertise on constitutional law is questionable. Spare us your assertions in that regard.
Explain to me how there is a justification for Trump going to war without consulting congress? Spare us your assertions in that regard if you are not willing to explain how or why I am wrong that, under the constitution. the Congress, and Congress alone, has the power to declare war.
He's the one who is not lying about it.
He is lying. He has said repeatedly that Iran refuses to rule out developing nuclear weapons. He is wrong (lying).
Trump is wearing his war bronzer — heavy and powerful.
Of course this is risky. Saying you think the action is warranted but then making an bigger deal of the risks would be incredibly poor leadership. If it needs done for very good reasons, you admit the risk, but mostly you plan it, endorse it, cheerlead it, and execute, because success is the goal, not covering your ass in case of failure.
"He is lying. He has said repeatedly that Iran refuses to rule out developing nuclear weapons. He is wrong (lying)."

Fredo is going for the Keith Olberman Prize for editorial excellence.
It is sad that you are so arrogant in your ignorance.
Has anyone lifted a finger to come to the defense of our other targets around the world? Venezuela, ISIS, Iraq and others?
Russia is bogged down. If China doesn't act here, it has zero credibility left with any current or (esp) future clients. So I would expect them to act, this time.
Only Congress can declare war. True, absolutely true. Doe this mean we cannot be at was unless Congress declares war? Uh, no.
Here's a question for all the sudden experts in law and warfare- how long have we been at war with Iran? A good date would be November 4, 1979 when Iran invaded the US Embassy- sovereign US territory, and took our ambassadors and others present as hostages. We never signed a peace treaty with Iran after that. We've had all kinds of small brushups with Iran since then. Often with Iran providing material to non-state actors to attack us with. A state of was has existed since that point in 1979 without the USA declaring war on Iran.
Declarations of war are somewhat obsolete in today's international order. Nobody bothers with them. The last few I know that were issued was a series in 1941- Japan delivered a Declaration of War to the USA- a few hours late, from it's embassy in Washington DC on December 7, 1941. We declared war on them December 8. And on December 11 we declared war on both Italy and Germany and vice versa. And the US declared was on a few other Axis nations in early 1942.
Russia and Ukraine still haven't declared war against each other...
Congress abdicated it's responsibility to declare war since 1942 by using all kinds of substitute language. AUMF- Authorization of Use of Military Force being the newest evasion I can think of. But whether Congress makes any formal recognition or not- we can be at war with other nations.
Johnson & Vietnam
What is your point? You appear to be under the misapprehension that I supported the Vietnam War. Regardless, I was two years old when Kennedy was assassinated) and in sixth grade when the war ended (or at least combat operations).
My fear is that Iranian terror cells in the US, conveniently allowed in by Biden's open borders policy will activate, and stage attacks. I hope the FBI has been looking for them as assiduously as they have been hunting white supremacists and rogue school board protesters.
Fritz:
Some on Twitter have argued that the hit on the head of the Jalisco cartel was preparation for this, since Iran and the cartels have been cooperating for years, with Iran paying the cartels to help their agents into the US or even to strike target themselves.

There are different people in charge who have different goals.
Trump isn't the usual band of globalist tools you support.
Bush Obama Bush and Biden were never interested in peace or the people of the countries involved. They were corrupt evil dishonest shitheads like you.
Venezuela was a kinetic investment that has paid off on the investment and risk many times over already. There was risk and there were people killed. But the outcome has been clearly positive.
I don't expect you to understand the difference between Trump and the people you support. Your are a retard with bad intentions.
Here ya go, Freder.
"Timeframe for Presidential Consultation with Congress on U.S. Troop Use
Under the War Powers Resolution of 1973, the U.S. Constitution’s division of war powers requires the President to consult with Congress before introducing U.S. Armed Forces into hostilities or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances Avalon Project+1.
The law does not set a fixed number of days the President must wait before consulting — instead, it says the President “shall consult with Congress in every possible instance” before such action LII / Legal Information Institute. This means consultation is expected to occur as soon as feasible, ideally before any deployment, to allow Congress to consider whether to authorize the action."
Now. Is there something else you'd like to enlightened of?
