Assuming we destroyed their air defense system and established total air supremacy, which I highly suspect to be the case, some of those 2,000 aircraft sorties were probably cargo planes dropping pallet loads of old M-16's and ammo.

If not, they should have been. That alone would probably have been enough to turn the tide.
