Person shot.

Both The Washington Post and The New York Times say that a "person" has been shot. Is there some question whether this was a woman or a man? If not, it's oddly dehumanizing.

From WaPo: "Federal agents shot another person in Minnesota on Saturday morning, Gov. Tim Walz said in a social media post. Police did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the incident, and Walz provided few details. It was not immediately clear which federal agency was involved, and the condition of the apparent victim was unknown."

Checking Walz's X post, I see it doesn't even say "person," just "another horrific shooting" (along with the demand, "The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now").

Perhaps WaPo wrote "person" so it could use the word "another." It could not say "shot another man."

From the NYT: "Federal law enforcement agents shot and killed a person in Minneapolis on Saturday morning, according to local and federal officials with knowledge of the episode.... The circumstances of the shooting were not immediately clear, but video circulating on social media and verified by The New York Times appears to show it from a distance. In the footage, several people, apparently federal agents, are seen holding a person down on the sidewalk while at least one officer strikes the person with an object." An object. That's vague. There's such a dearth of information that the NYT sees fit to quote a woman who "heard a sudden burst of whistles and yelling" and was told to "back up and stay away." She said "I immediately assumed the worst. I figured someone was shot pretty bad.” Shot? But she heard whistles and yelling. It doesn't say she heard a shot.

Why would "person" be dehumanizing?

De-genderizing maybe, but a person is a human person, right?

By publishing as little information as possible, the lie stays viable for a little while longer. Unfortunately for the Bich types there are problems:

1) Unlike Bondi, Kristi Noem runs a tight ship and DHS keeps bodycam footage along with well trained officers. It's why Renee Good is no longer an issue after the 'wife" encouraged felony resisting arrest.

2) The bigger problem is that no one cares if Bich and all his friends were shot the same way. Some would cheer.

I am so tired of this bullshit. You know how you can tell it's bullshit? Randi Weingarten was the featured speaker at the Target Center self-satisfaction celebration/bloviation festival yesterday.

This latest episode happened in Whittier, a neighborhood adjoining Powderhorn, where Renee Good met her Maker. These neighborhoods are full of LARPing leftists and the working class people they essentially hold hostage with their antics. The Lake Street neighborhoods where the George Floyd passion plays took place are to the east and south of there, on the other side of 35W. Some of the people you saw marching around downtown yesterday live in these neighborhoods, but the REI rebel/parlor pinkos with the North Face jackets tend to live closer to the lakes.

These people share leftist ideology, a heartfelt commitment to solipsism and an unwavering belief that they speak for all of us. And their enablers in the local media spread that message far and wide. They can all go to hell, but the problem is they intend to take as many people as possible with them.

Obama deported nearly 3 million people—more than any recent presidency—largely without militarized raids or widespread invasions of U.S. cities and neighborhoods.

By contrast, Trump's current approach features highly visible, aggressive operations in communities, with reports of excessive force, property destruction (smashed windows, doors), and rough handling of detainees—including working people, green card holders, naturalized and native-born citizens, Native Americans, teenagers, and young children—often beyond just targeting serious criminals.

Concerns include agents' possible use of performance-enhancing substances, histories of domestic violence, or integration of pardoned January 6 participants and others with violent backgrounds, fostering perceptions of unchecked brutality and an occupying presence in American streets.

This level of fear, collateral damage, and overreach falls short of fair, targeted, and humane enforcement. Americans deserve better.

Agree with Shouting Thomas. Just because the media is going to rush to print a story without verifying details, it doesn’t mean I have to believe what they print. Did anyone ask Walz how he knew the training record of the agents involved? It can’t just be because someone was shot, as officers are trained to shoot people brandishing firearms. Maybe that didn’t happen, but I don’t know from the story.

Also, why isn’t Walz telling untrained civilians to stay out of the way of law enforcement conducting dangerous arrests? There are so many professional ways Walz could handle this, if he wanted to turn down the temperature. One might be to have ICE give a daily, end of business, press conference on who they apprehended and why? That way, if Minnesota’s are concerned about citizens being arrested, they could challenge it then at a safe press conference. Make sure all those arrested got a trial (not that they may need them, because rulings were already made by a court) because the Minneapolis Boasberg would demand it. Then you would have the data to hold individual ICE agents accountable.

I’m not saying any of that is necessary, but it is an option Walz is skipping past. All of it is normal stuff during major federal operations.

Great angle.

You can clearly see the person who was blocking traffic being pulled off the road and resisting.

You see the agent who took the shot react instantly when he saw the person resisting arrest reach for something at his waste.

You also see the agent pause slightly to look for a clear angle so he wouldn't hit any of the other agents. The decision to shoot was clear and clearly triggered by what he saw.

When the other agents cleared the next 3 shots went off.

There was a weapon on the assailant and he was shot.

Don't wrestle with law enforcement when you have a gun on you. You get shot every time.

If there is a gun on the ground and your hand goes towards that gun you get shot. I saw women go for guns after some guy got shot several times.

Minnesota turns red after the illegals and Somali fraudsters are removed from the voter rolls.

Without Minnesota Democrats don't have much of a shot nationally. Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, Pennsylvania all turn dark red without illegal voters that have been organized and integrated into the voting system by Obama and his Cloward Piven machine.

Part of the problem is probably lack of law enforcement training by the thousands of new ICE agents. In 2018, basic training for ICE officers spanned 20 weeks. Homeland Security says that training for recruits at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Georgia is now only eight weeks.

That is about half the training time of the Minneapolis Police Department, which requires academy training of 14-16 weeks. The St. Paul Police Department requires five months of training through its academy.

The NYPost has changed its lede sentence online. Earlier versions of the story said the dude was waving a gun at Feds according to DHS and video footage. Now the part about video footage evidence has gone missing from the story. Now, only DHS says he was brandishing a gun at Feds, according to NYPost.

Also from the NYPost: "according to the feds, who said “this looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement"

So there's the government's story: The dude was waving around a gun because he wanted to massacre law enforcement. Case closed.

Part of the problem is probably lack of law enforcement training by the thousands of new ICE agents.

I believe Pam Bondi said the agent who discharged his weapon had worked for CBP for eight years. The agent who shot Renee Good was a combat veteran who worked for ICE for 15 years.

These are not rookie agents pulling triggers.

It is astonishing in the internet commentary the willingness of people to assert things with certainty that they have no way of knowing, and see things that aren't there.
Virtually all of the people asserting that the ICE agents "executed" the guy while he was laying on the ground, and purporting to have exhaustively reviewed the videos, completely ignore the clear evidence of the guy grabbing/dragging the women with the orange backpack, as well as the circumstance that the guy was struggling with the ICE officers and gets up to his knees/feet before the shots occur. (It is possible that he gets pulled up by other officers, but he's definitely getting up).
Its a very chaotic scene.
It certainly does not appear that the guy who was shot was intending to attack the ICE officers. I don't know if the pepper spray caused him to "lose it," or what--but he was definitely struggling and resisting very hard.

Really have to wonder why the governor and the mayor continue to encourage citizens to put themselves in danger. Shootings aside, ICE is not gentle when moving people out of the way. Somebody shoved hard could crack their head on the ground, break a leg or arm.

Seems that letting ICE do their job, with occasionally, temporarily, targeting the wrong person, is much better than encouraging violent resistance, with the occasional, permanent death.

No. We have a Federal system of laws that take precedence over state laws. They take precedence, not 'are provisionally given' preference. If Minnesota decides it no longer abides the US Constitution, then civil war follows. I would suspect most of Minnesota prefers otherwise, strongly. That's where this conflict needs to go, next - isolating Minneapolis from Minnesota.

This group mostly wants to make Walz responsible for this killing. Okay, but your government is telling you that the person killed was brandishing a gun while he was attempting to massacre law enforcement. And that is not what the video evidence shows, so let's not believe what the DJT administration is saying, since we know they are lying.

How about getting back the basics to assess culpability for this killing? Seems like you'd, at least, take a second to look at the actions of the person pulling the trigger, instead of only going to Walz and others that didn't commit the killing.

Logic is tricky.

Achilles said...

It should be pointed out that if this person was from Virginia why wasn't he protesting ICE in Virginia? Because illegals arrested in Virginia are held in county until ICE comes and picks them up and none of this happens.

But In Minnesota Walz has criminals released into society and ICE has to go out and arrest them.

This person got shot because Walz is committing sedition and because he was a riot tourist looking to help his movement.

Now he is dead.

If Minnesota holds the people ICE wants held this is a simple pickup at the county jail. Just like the 49 other states where this isn't happening.

But Walz and Frey are committing sedition by ordering criminal illegals released from prison instead of turning them over to ICE.

So Walz is absolutely creating this situation and is absolutely responsible for this person getting shot.

The person responsible is the guy that took a loaded semi-automatic with an extra magazine to a protest. That’s not something a person brings to a peaceful protest. Especially when they start fighting with agents.

Walz responsibility is to follow the laws he swore an oath to uphold. Included in those are the laws of the United States. Making seditious comments to protect people in the country illegally and committing crimes against the United States is not a responsibility of Walz or Frey.

Let me get ahead of a potential come back. What about Kyle Rittenhouse bringing a loaded gun to a protest?

Kyle Rittenhouse was held responsible for his actions. He was tried in a court and found by a jury to have acted responsibly with his gun in self-defense.

Among things Rittenhouse did responsibly was surrender himself to masked law enforcement present at the scene. Rittenhouse didn’t interfere with law enforcement. Rittenhouse didn’t resist arrest.

Show us the video of that level of responsibility in Minnesota.

The fact that the government is saying lying when it says that that the citizen was brandishing a gun as the citizen wanted to massacre law enforcement makes me not trust the government. Since they are lying to us.

We need Inga and Chuck and Readering to stop being fucking cowards and get on with their resistance to the tyranny of enforcing immigration law. They need to stop trying to get other people shot.

Honestly I can't even see an analogous situation to this where MAGA would be fighting to prevent some criminals from being caught by police.
