"On too many stories, the press has missed the story. Because we've taken into account the perspective of advocates and not the average American."

"Or we put too much weight in the analysis of academics or elites, and not enough on you."

Said this CBS News man, presumably the current anchor of the "Evening News," which posts this clip without telling us the man's name.... I have no idea who this man is, I don't find his delivery confidence-inspiring, and I haven't watched the CBS Evening News since the days of its famously confidence-inspiring figurehead Walter Cronkite.

I guess this clip, which appeared at the top of my "For you" feed at X, is supposed to make me believe that change is afoot at CBS. I'm not going to start watching the show to find out. I'll be seeing — and blogging — video clips as they appear on websites I read.

In the middle of writing this post, I went back to X and there was another CBS post at the top of my "For you" feed. This one's from CBS News — the other was from CBS Evening News — and this time I'm given the man's name:
So it's Tony Dokoupil. Okay. Good luck to him. I see I blogged about him on December 10th when he was named the new anchor. He was distinguished by having confronted Ta-Nehisi Coates with nonsoftball questions. (You can see video of  him questioning Coates here.)

At the time, CBS rebuked Dokoupil, and Bari Weiss's Free Press published audio recordings of the meeting. Bari Weiss now runs CBS News, so Dokoupil's new position matters a lot.

Reading that history is confidence-inspiring, but it's one more reason to prefer reading the news. Those video clips of Dokoupil asserting that CBS News would be different left me cold.

This is what happens when the pitchforks are getting sharpened.

The wave of fraud stories on X is epic. And of course it all comes down to Obama. He wasn't proud enough of the 2008 mortgage crisis. He implemented the asylum system the Somalis used to come here.

Hopefully the federal government does not survive this.

The big problem this fraud story makes for the Dem/lefty establishment is that Americans are kind of OK with giving money to poor people, but they are definitely not OK with government money being stolen or grifted away. It is turning out that as much as 50% of gov. spending goes to fraud, so cutting spending is going to be politically mandatory.

Good. My 92 year-old, gone-off-the-deep-end lefty mother, watches CBS News (she also watches MSNBC all day long). Maybe this will moderate her a bit.

Although I won't believe that CBS will change until I see it. And since I don't watch it, I won't see it, I guess. (I did watch it for a week following the Trump/Biden debate, just to see what the MSM was saying, and boy oh boy! I was taken aback.)

Trump has never been much of a spending hawk. He barely fought to keep spending at present levels.

If they aren't deporting Somalis and other "asylum" fraudsters before Novemeber 2026 there will be a revolt. Both parties are protecting this.

They're trying to trick people into watching CBS News again.

CBS News was anchored by Dan Rather. He was fired for using fake, self-typed up memos to try to rig the 2004 Presidential Election for John Kerry.

He almost got away with it, except for those pesky bloggers sitting around in their mom's basement wearing their pajamas. You know, like Nick Shirley - who scooped CBS News with his accounts of fake child care centers run by imported hood rats from Somalia stealing literally billions of dollars of American taxpayer dollars that could have gone to feeding and housing wounded war veterans but instead was sent off to the al Shabaab Muslim terrorist organization in Somalia.

CBS News frequently misses the story because they're taking into account how badly this story will hurt Kamala Harris. Or whichever fucking idiot they have running as the Democrat candidate.

CBS News isn't news. They're fucking frauds.

But they aren't the problem. There have always been fraudulent "news" organizations. However this one is officially licensed by Donald J. Trump to operate on American airwaves. They receive extremely valuable spectrum that is owned by the American people so they can operate broadcast networks inside the United States. These spectrum are worth BILLIONS OF DOLLARS ... but CBS gets them free, thanks to Trump's FCC.

Donald Trump is the problem.

I personally find Bari a little bit annoying, like maybe she’s trying to hard, but I admire what she has done with the Free Press. I don’t really expect a whole lot to change at CBS as far as being some huge counterbalance to the other networks but I think she’ll get things a bit more moderate. I plan to jump in as I don’t really consider Fox News as really news, at least compared to what I can come across elsewhere and welcome something else to watch, so long as my intelligence isn’t insulted. Best of luck to Bari, though.

I haven't watched in decades and I just have no need for it in my life. I don't have time for it. If you already know the stories in the news, what's the point in seeing how the network decided to sum it up at the end of the day? But even if it is new stuff, it is too slow, too low level. I read the news and I skim and skip around a lot. It's much faster and more active. And easier to blog.

Here's the story CBS News "missed."

Grok: "There are multiple reports and allegations that US tax dollars—stolen through massive welfare and social service fraud schemes in Minnesota—have flowed to Al-Shabaab, effectively making American taxpayers an unwitting funding source for the terrorist group."

"These claims stem primarily from investigations into programs like Medicaid, housing assistance, child nutrition (e.g., Feeding Our Future), and child care subsidies, where billions in federal funds were allegedly defrauded, with portions wired overseas to Somalia via informal hawala networks, where Al-Shabaab reportedly takes a cut regardless of intent."

The hood rats stealing our tax dollars to fund international Muslim terrorism aren't even running away. They're now faking burglaries and alleging evidence has been stolen to try to cover up their crimes.

They know they're going to get away with it. They are not scared of US prosecutors or US prisons because George Soros has already bought US prosecutors and ordered them not to prosecute terrorist black people.

CBS is lamenting the gate they used to keep and they're trying to close it again.

It is all so much of the same carefully crafted language, manipulation of the definitions of words to imply what they want them to mean. None of the mea culpa we would need like our organization has a long and shameful history of left wing bias, fraud and propaganda and when correctly accused of it our reaction was reprehensible. Even taken at face value I hear only a commitment to consider the reactions of their political opponents to their propaganda, not the necessary rejection of propaganda itself. No commitment to expose the stories according to their magnitude and importance, like the current widespread federal dollars fraud, or the connection to voter fraud…or the recently exposed voter fraud and election interference of the Biden election. ‘We were dead wrong and we’re sorry’ will never be uttered.

Let me explain to you what the point is: Because WE are paying for it, Ann.

It's OUR spectrum that CBS News is being licensed to operate in the United States. We, The People, own that very valuable spectrum and it's been GIVEN FOR FREE to CBS News to operate a fraudulent "news" organization inside the United States. A network which is routinely being used to falsify the news and to rig our Presidential elections in favor of a bunch of fucking criminals.

O Mike @ 9:19, I don’t think you quite get it. Don’t conflate defending the rule of law with defending politicians.

People on the left are angry about stolen money from programs meant for the poor — that’s why the cases were investigated, prosecuted, and why sentences and restitution are being sought. Fraud isn’t being excused or minimized.

What many of us are pushing back on is the leap from prosecuting fraud to collective blame, ethnic targeting, and unconstitutional punishments.

You can be furious about stolen money and reject calls to strip citizenship or deport people based on identity or innuendo.

Those positions aren’t in conflict.

If outrage were really about protecting politicians, you’d see resistance to prosecutions. Instead, you’re seeing resistance to turning a criminal case into a permanent grievance narrative.

That distinction matters.

Wisely invested confidence in news coverage consists entirely of content. A truth spoken by a cross-eyed, lisping, stammerer is infinitely more valuable than a rumor, half-truth, or damning lie spoken by a cum laude graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Confidence Inspiring.

Well, you are simply wrong about that. If I admit to someone that I have committed a crime, and that person testifies to that statement in court, it is admissible as a statement against my interest. Otherwise, the exception is worthless.

Tapping Shipwreckedcrew again for a discussion of the Feeding Our Fraud prosecutions. Though the thrust of the post is largely to counter the claims the Trump Administration has not been aggressively pursuing the fraudsters, there are a couple of interesting notes about the trials that occurred under the Biden Administration. It is true that there were extensive prosecutions under that administration

Those are all the defendants charged by the Biden DOJ — 67 total — between September 2022 and February 2024. Every case was related to the “Feed Our Future” fraud scheme involving a childhood nutrition program funded by the Dept. of Agriculture.

However note the date of the last charges being filed

Remember, the Biden DOJ last charged anyone in the FOF fraud scheme on Feb. 5, 2024. No additional charges over the final 11 months prior to Trump taking office, and it had no investigations into any other fraud schemes.

Working almost from scratch, the Trump/Bondi DOJ — beginning in May 2025 — has now charged 21 additional defendants in less than 7 months, and expanded the investigation into Autism treatment, housing assistance, and the Integrated Community Supports services.

Additionally

Note what is completely absent from any of what is described above. There is nothing that suggests the Biden DOJ ever looked into whether Minnesota state officials or politicians were criminally complicit in massive and systematic fraud in programs where Minnesota paid the money out to the fraudsters.

Just curious, have any Somali community leaders rebuked the outrageous fraud, in public? We don’t know how thoroughly entrenched this way of life is in that community until and unless we can see and hear and judge the trustworthiness for ourselves. So far, not a peep of rebuke. Right now, the Somali community has a massive PR problem, if indeed it’s just a smattering of fraudsters there and not the lot, or most of it.

This is why we call you Fredo, Fredo. What you describe doesn't come in under statement against interest but, rather, as a statement of a party-opponent. It is illogical to admit it as a statement against interest since that would provide incentive for any witness to claim even more heinous admissions in order to convict you. In my hypothetical, which took me two tries to get right by the way, the witness claiming you admitted to the crime isn't even testifying in the trial.

Rather always seemed stiff and uncomfortable, quite apart from his dishonesty.

The surprise is that CBS even aired that Mudd interview. But it seems that Mudd's career was effectively over due to his taking down that sacred cow.

Breezy, that’s not equal justice under law. That’s citizenship conditionality.

Once someone is lawfully naturalized, they are a U.S. citizen — not a guest on probation. You don’t get to downgrade their rights because of where they were born or who they’re associated with. Courts have been crystal clear on that for decades.

Also, “remote connection” isn’t a legal standard. It’s collective suspicion. We don’t punish people for proximity, ancestry, or community ties — we punish individual criminal acts proven in court.

Mason, it appears that it’s the MAGA crowd cheering mob pardoning. And sex offender, and drug dealers, he’ll, even government fraudsters, if they’re white or wealthy.

Michele Fiore — Pardoned after conviction on wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud for misusing memorial funds.
Scott Howard Jenkins — Pardoned for honest services mail and wire fraud and bribery involving federal funds.
Brian Kelsey — Pardoned for conspiracy to defraud the United States and related campaign finance violations.
Other fraud figures pardoned include people convicted of Bank Secrecy Act violations (which are financial/anti-money-laundering related) and Joseph Lewis, who was convicted of securities fraud.

Everything you need to know about the Left is in Bertolt Brecht's "The Solution":

After the uprising of the 17th of June
The Secretary of the Writers' Union
Had leaflets distributed on the Stalinallee
Which stated that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government
And could only win it back
By redoubled work. Would it not in that case
Be simpler for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?

You Democrat filth brought this bloodthirsty tribe of lazy, stupid, hateful 70-IQ pirates here from Somalia to "dissolve the people and elect another" after the people of America made it clear you had worn out your welcome.

Trump is going to abandon his Israel First bullshit and his big talk no walk garbage or he is going to be a lame duck. Vance is going to step up or he will be defeated in 2028.

If Vance continues down this weak pathetic path and nothing happens for 3 more years the Republican Party has a choice.

Or it can run someone who will do what Trump promised to do and win.
