Impeachment is trending on X, but I'm not sure why.

It could be this:

But it could be this:

Impeachment cuts both ways. Both sides can try to do it (and indulge in rhetoric about how the other side is trying to do it).

Well, yes. Every appointed or elected person is subject to impeachment for certain kinds of malfeasance and non-performance.

That's not the issue. The issue is whether an impeachment is done for cause or is just an attempt to subvert the will of the people.

Came here to say something, but I’ll just +1 to Tim.

Nice execution:
First, you gotta clear that long corridor on a workday, then you gotta find a camera crew adept at walking backwards at a fast clip without stumbling once. Only then can you let Ted go for it. Curious how many takes it took.

There should be some kind of performance measurement for "public servants." For a federal judge, perhaps that could be how many decisions have been overturned. That could be used to determine incumbency.

Elected officials must face the will of the people through voting, but there is no control over lifetime appointed judges.

I can think of how to do it without walking backwards. Tape the iPhone to the assistant's back and have the assistant walk normally while Cruz walks toward the iPhone.

I need to do that with Meade.

…of all the ignoring of the law and abuse of power Hawaiian judges have accomplished these are not the episodes I would have selected, Ted. Makes you look out of touch…

Our good friend who hiked the AT got really good at making walking videos by himself. Not sure I care for Ted’s direct angle, above and from the side looks more dynamic…

Tape to the back? There’s head mounts for that…

You're going to impeach Meade?

What did I miss? ;^)

In the case of Nicholas Roske, attempted murder was a bit of a stretch. He got out of a cab near Justice Kavanaugh’s house, saw there was security, walked away, then called the police on himself. Law school exam question: Where is the attempt? He decided not to make the attempt. He did the prosecution a favor by pleading guilty.

I’m bored with the performative arts of impeachment. No one is going to be removed from office via impeachment. It’s all useless virtue signaling like expressing concern or having another hearing.

It's theater, Fred.

The Left loves theater.

There a a few ways to accomplish this. I've seen "selfie sticks" that attach to the body, and automatically hide the stick in the video. Also could have used a drone, although they'd have to hide the prop noise, and I doubt that's allowed in the Senate office building.

To follow up Fred Says, as long as the senate is almost 50-50, nobody on either side is going to convicted in an impeachment trial. The Republicans in congress could do useful things like pass laws that would codify the most important of Trumps EO's, or tighten voting laws, address birth right citizenship, or repeal Obamacare, but that would take a lot of actual work. Easier to posture and bloviate in front of the cameras.

The latest BS by Judge Boasberg; the US must return Venezuelans deported to the US and give them another trial. These are Venezuelan citizens now in another country that have already gone through due process for deportation to prove they were here illegally and sent to another country because a) Venezuela wouldn't take them back or b) they got a US judge to say they couldn't be sent back to Venezuela.

Boasberg is a total leftist hack. He does not preside over the law - he is a leftist hack. He must be removed.

Ted Cruz and the rest of the teabaggers know impeachment is a dead letter. He couldn't whip together 67 senators so why even bother goingthrough the process? He might be able to whip to 51 or 52 to abolish the DC circuit court, the DC court of appeals, and abolish home rule though. But not Ted. What's his game with this? He must know traditional impeachment is not going anywhere.

They are corrupt judges and SHOULD be impeached. Judges are supposed to be apolitical....and they prove every day they aren't.

Ted is walking and talking backwards. They just reversed the tape.

Last month, Nancy Pelosi (who drove the first two impeachments) said Democrats shouldn't try it again. She won't be in Congress next year, though.

It's doubtful that judges would be impeached and convicted if there's no sign of corruption or high crimes. Something ought to be done about judicial overreach, but impeachment probably isn't the way. For the time being, the Supreme Court can overturn rogue judges.

The key elements for attempted murder are an intent to kill and taking a direct step (or substantial step) toward that killing, which goes beyond mere preparation but doesn't necessarily cause death.

Let's check: Roske traveled by plane from his/her residence in Simi Valley, California, to the Washington, D.C., area. He/she then arrived at Kavanaugh's home in Maryland, wearing black clothing and carrying a Glock-17, zip ties, a tactical knife, pepper spray, a hammer, a screwdriver, a nail punch, a crowbar, duct tape, a pistol light, and boots padded to be stealthy.

Yep.

Republicans learned their lesson after the failed attempt to remove Bill Clinton from office- they could have spent the last 6 years of Obama's time in the White House impeaching him and his various officers but didn't- didn't even seriously consider doing so, either. I think if the Democrats win the House next November, they will impeach Trump multiple times over the final two years of his term.

Bill Harshaw said...

Maybe because he told the Republicans in their meeting at Trump/Kennedy Center they need to hold the House in the fall elections or he'll get impeached?

Judge Boasberg has been having a snit fit for almost a year now. He thinks he was disrespected and he just can't get over it. Judges are human--and sometimes adult humans can act like three year old children. Spend enough time on your feet in the well of a courtroom and you'll learn that. Putting on a black robe does not automatically make a recently elevated lawyer wise.

Dems work as a Borg - they will all vote as directed.

R's are all over the place. At least 20 will not vote to do "impolite" things. The R's will never successfully impeach anyone short of Jeffrey Dahmer.
